Charlie Kirk shot

Isn’t it ironic that someone who made statements that some gun deaths are inevitable and justifiable to protect 2nd Amendment rights. - was shot by someone whose “rights” he was protecting.
Before anyone jumps on me - of course no one should be murdered for their views.

I am deeply deeply saddened, I was aware of him because of his stance on the men in women's spaces isdies, so I have been watching him for a long time.
I think I left the 'left' last night.

I feel so sad, I have followed CK for some time.

I hope Turning Point will continue his good work.

Are you American Galaxy?

Galaxy Thu 11-Sept-25 07:39:19

No, human though.

Cossy Thu 11-Sept-25 07:52:23

Awful! No one should be murdered, for any reason, certainly not for their views/beliefs/opinions

GrannyGravy13 Thu 11-Sept-25 07:59:20

Awfully sad for his family and associates.

Spinnaker Thu 11-Sept-25 08:01:48

A very sad indictment of the times in which we all now live 😢

vintage1950 Thu 11-Sept-25 08:09:40

Well, now everybody should know what happens when gun control is so lax, even Charlie Kirk's supporters. Murder never solves anything, and his children no longer have a father.

Anniebach Thu 11-Sept-25 08:09:44

So distressing linking his murder possibly with something he said,

Grandmabatty Thu 11-Sept-25 08:10:55

"Each man's death diminishes me". You can deplore his shooting but disagree with his views. The man was a racist and a homophobe, as well as an apologist for 'The right to bear arms.' I disagree with practically everything he believed in.

JenniferEccles Thu 11-Sept-25 08:12:35

A terrible shock for his family indeed, and it also must have brought back dreadful memories for Donald Trump who survived two assassination attempts.

Meanwhile the gunman is still at large.

Anniebach Thu 11-Sept-25 08:14:01

To speak of a persons belief when speaking of his brutal murdered !

DaisyAnneReturns Thu 11-Sept-25 08:14:33

That doesn't explain you leaving the "left" in your own country Galaxy because a man was killed, presumably for his alt-right views, in a foreign country.

Normally I would think this was none of my business but you did declare it to the whole world and I found it puzzling.

Iam64 Thu 11-Sept-25 08:15:14

Galaxy - this morning, I saw photographs of people called leftwing, celebrating his death.

We seem to be increasingly polarised.

AGAA4 Thu 11-Sept-25 08:17:16

This was a political assassination. Very sad for his family and friends. The right to bear arms has rebounded on him in a tragic way.

“It’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment” [Charlie Kirk].

Isnt it a case of hoist by his own petard?

Galaxy Thu 11-Sept-25 08:20:51

Iam64 knows me well. Yes it was the reaction from the left all over social media that horrified me.

It's an American assassination. America doesn't yet know who the shooter was or their motivation and neither do you.

I agree Galaxy

This assassination, murder whatever it is called will only add to the polarisation in the USA.

The anti-Trump followers have been extremely vocal overnight, I hope this is not the beginning of a tit-for-tat assassination frenzy.

We are living in dangerous times

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 11-Sept-25 08:35:45

“The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the heart of the youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” the president posted on Truth Social.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 11-Sept-25 08:37:25

Charlie Kirk was only 31y. He was a devout Christian and loving family man with two young children, now fatherless this morning. What an indictment of intolerance when you cannot debate, discuss or disagree with someone else’s opinions without resorting to murder. This is what left liberal intolerance looks like.

AGAA4 Thu 11-Sept-25 08:38:22

It was obviously political. America and our own PM have realised that.

J52 Thu 11-Sept-25 08:39:21

No one knows who the attacker was or their politics. Speculation is dangerous and could cost further lives.
