Isn’t it ironic that someone who made statements that some gun deaths are inevitable and justifiable to protect 2nd Amendment rights. - was shot by someone whose “rights” he was protecting.
Before anyone jumps on me - of course no one should be murdered for their views.

Wa# he murdered because he supported Israel?

In an April 2023 Turning Point USA event in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kirk said: "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."[83][84][85]

He isn’t the only one in favour of guns in USA

In a poll of 2023 only 27% are in favour of a total ban

58% are in favour of stricter laws in what sort of firearm individuals can own.

Whilst 86% in 2024 believe it is too easy to obtain a gun legally.

The gun lobby is big and powerful in USA cannot see any big changes in the near future.

And the Democrat senator murdered on her doorstep, her husband bludgeoned with a hammer?
Sadly, hatred occurs on both sides. Charlie Kirk was less than respectful when referring to these attacks.
I deplore this man's death, as I do the senator, as I do the deaths of children in the USA. It is the leading cause of death for children between one and seventeen.
The problem is not left, or right, but the gun culture in that country. Those who defend if have blood on their hands.

I agree with that! Something must be done about their gun Culture for sure.

Sadly, Mt61, some of this gentleman's posts seem racist to me.
He posted that black women were inferior intellectually to white women, and " stole" white women's jobs .

Please could you provide links to these posts? I've only seen videos of Charlie Kirk debating in halls and on campuses, but he always seemed respectful.

No one knows who the attacker was or their politics. Speculation is dangerous and could cost further lives.

It’s clearly obvious where there politics lie.

Voltaire said “I disapprove of what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” Now it seems that if what you say is disapproved of at best you will be cancelled, at worst you will be shot dead.
It is a damning indictment of our society, although this has happened before in America with JFK, RFK, and Martin Luther King.

I had never heard of Charlie Kirk but totally shocked by a young man with a wife and two young children being killed in this way. Sat up on that podium he was an easy target. His death will not shut him up as it will increase support, the opposite of what the shootist intended. As for those who are rejoicing I am horrified.

I haven’t heard that debate! I still think it’s a great shame.

Charlie Kirk has blood on his body

Mt61 Thu 11-Sept-25 09:14:48

Very, very sad. I have watched him a few times. He was a true evangelical Christian. Very intelligent man & great debater.

We are living in dangerous times

And some are happy to make it more dangerous. It sounds as if this man could have been one of those people.

Victim blaming at its best! Whether you agree or disagree with Charlie Kirk's views, he did not incite violence against his opponents. From videos I've seen he was always calm and respectful when debating with those of opposite views.
The justifications and celebrations on social media by some on the left are beyond sickening.

Every young person I know is talking about this, perhaps people don't understand how well known he was amongst those who use social media.

When was the last time you were on GN?
This site talks endlessly about America and Donald Trump. Why do you think this shooting is nothing to do with us?
Is Donald Trump nothing to do with us?

Mt61 Thu 11-Sept-25 09:07:30

"Each man's death diminishes me". You can deplore his shooting but disagree with his views. The man was a racist and a homophobe, as well as an apologist for 'The right to bear arms.' I disagree with practically everything he believed in.

No he wasn’t

Murder is a heinous act in any circumstances. In Utah, the law allows anyone to opened carry a loaded gun without needing a permit.
Thank goodness we have firearm laws in the UK.

Charlie Kirk was only 31y. He was a devout Christian and loving family man with two young children, now fatherless this morning. What an indictment of intolerance when you cannot debate, discuss or disagree with someone else’s opinions without resorting to murder. This is what left liberal intolerance looks like.

It was obviously political. America and our own PM have realised that.

America is a foreign country. It's an American assassination. America doesn't yet know who the shooter was or their motivation and neither do you.

Thoughts are with his loved ones.
