I cannot understand, then, how the USA and Britain can have a differing understanding of scripture.
I would suggest, respectfully, that however popular Mr Kirk's views might be, they are not supported by any words of Jesus, so are problematic to be described as Christian.

Traditional Catholic catechism surrounding the rights of the foetus were mainstream CK. I am surprised that the current Pope isn’t defending this.

In the transcripts of the texts between TR and his boyfriend TR says the reason for shooting him was to stop the hate messages or similar .He doesn’t sound to have been a Republican to me.
As his boyfriend was transitioning it was likely to do with that.

I suspect he wasn’t aligned to anything political, but was angry, upset and confused about preaching which made his partner worthless, and his relationship sinful in the eyes of those who followed Kirk. For those who have been brought up in any strict doctrine, those circumstances would be very hard to take. That’s not excusing what he did at all.

All we know is that he was in a relationship with his roommate, who was transitioning.

CK isn’t alone in the US with his form of Christian beliefs, those views are shared by millions there which is why he had such a following.
Not to be compared with the sort of Christian views in the UK.

I'd be pleased to see any of Kirk's mysogynist, racist or homophobic comments explained and put into a different context that didn't make them mysogynistic, racist or homophobic. tbh I find it rather terrifying to think that thousands and thousands of young Americans followed his every word and didn't question the morality of what he was saying in a wider context than one of Christian Nationalism.

I recently nursed three broken ribs about . What does this have to do with the conversation? It didn't affect my ability to think or read.

I was brought up in a christian household with devout parents. I sang in the church choir. I was confirmed. I was even 'born again' for a while. I have a relative who is a lay preacher.

I think I have a pretty good idea of christian beliefs and teachings from years of immersion. They were nothing like CK's.
