4 of the 5 conditions are fulfilled.

UN report.

I see no point at nearly midnight when we are all tired Oreo in rushing to look for the reference when silverlining has found a relevant one we can read in the morning, which is all I suggest .

No need for the "fgs".

Oreo Sat 20-Sept-25 23:42:37

If only! The salary would be nice Allira. Strangely enough where I used to live in London, the young woman next door actually was, she came and went and we looked after her cat.

Allira Sat 20-Sept-25 23:33:13

Well, Oreo's version seems to be rather similar to Reuters version.

Are you a Reuters reporter, Oreo?

Please can you give me the reference, silverlining48 or Oreo's version will "stick" and the real truth should be shouted.

Yes, it’s important for you to not be naive on this subject and think that silverlining48 has all the answers.

The only thing which is confusing posters is that Israel added underground rooms to the al Shifa hospital , for operating and added storage which were linked by tunnels.Possibly at another hospital too when the hospitals were renovated. This is why the IDF knew that these rooms would be used by hamas before and after 7th October, they knew to look there.
The 500 k of tunnels were built over the years by Palestinians firstly for smuggling purposes and then by hamas for smuggling and weapons and being able to get into Israel for purposes such as leaving bombs in cafes and taking of hostages.

Allira Sat 20-Sept-25 23:20:10

Tunnel construction began in Gaza before Israel withdrew its troops and settlers in 2005.

But it was ramped up after Hamas took control of the Strip two years later, which prompted Israel and Egypt to begin restricting the movement of goods and people in and out for security reasons.

At its peak, almost 2,500 tunnels running underneath the Egyptian border were used to smuggle in commercial goods, fuel and weapons, external by Hamas and other militant groups.

I'm waiting for Silverlinings reference, which will probably be tomorrow now.

It's important not to be naive. Jewish people like every other group have peace makers and war mongers. Many Jewish people arrived in the area in the 1930's and some were in terrorist groups determined to make as much of Palestine as possible into a State when they could.

"In the 1930s, Jewish terrorist groups operating in Mandatory Palestine included the Irgun (Etzel), an offshoot of the larger Haganah paramilitary organization that became more militant in 1931,

and the Haganah itself, which also conducted violent attacks and sabotage.

These groups used violence and terrorism to undermine British control and advance Zionist goals, notably during the 1936-1939 Arab revolt against British rule"

Reuters are usually reliable, I believe.

After the last hostilities in 2021, Hamas's leader in Gaza, Yehya Al-Sinwar, said: "They started saying they destroyed 100 km of Hamas tunnels. I am telling you, the tunnels we have in the Gaza Strip exceed 500 km. Even if their narrative is true, they only destroyed 20% of the tunnels."
There has been no corroboration of the comment by Sinwar, who is thought to be hiding underground ahead of an expected Israeli offensive.
But the estimate of hundreds of kilometres is widely accepted by security analysts, even though the blockaded coastal strip is only 40 km (25 miles) long.

Wikipedia

vast network of underground tunnels used for smuggling and warfare exists in the Gaza Strip. This infrastructure runs throughout the Gaza Strip and towards Egypt and Israel, and has been developed by Hamas and other Palestinian military organizations to facilitate the storing and shielding of weapons; the gathering and moving of fighters, including for training and communication purposes; the launching of offensive attacks against Israel; and the transportation of Israeli hostages. On several occasions, Palestinian militants have also used this tunnel network, which is colloquially referred to as the Gaza metro,[1][2][3]‌ to infiltrate Israel and Egypt while masking their presence and activities within the Gaza Strip itself. According to Iranian military officer Hassan Hassanzadeh, who commands the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from Tehran, the Gaza Strip's tunnels run for more than 500 kilometres (310 mi) throughout the territory.[4

And much more, but I am sure you know

Wyllow3 Sat 20-Sept-25 22:28:03

Well I didn't know the tunnels were dug by Israel.
All their propaganda hinted "dug by Hamas". didnt most in the world think that?

I'm very, very angry.

silverlining48 Sat 20-Sept-25 21:44:22

Edud Barak was PM at the time .

silverlining48 Sat 20-Sept-25 21:42:01

I already knew that the tunnels were built by Israel but found the clarification very easily on line.
The Israeli PM at the time Edward ? stated that the tunnels were built by Israelis in the 1980s which is years before Israel under PM Sharon returned Gaza to the Palestinians in the early 2000s.

Oreo Sat 20-Sept-25 20:53:01

The ignorance about the tunnels is staggering!
Israel did not build them, they were built by Palestinians initially for smuggling and extended into Israel and Egypt.
They were used intermittently for lightening attacks on Israel and hostage taking ( yes, Gazans have been doing that well before 2023).When hamas took power they dedicated themselves to building more and more, boasting they had 500k of tunnels, getting every more deeper and more sophisticated.
They have been at it ever since.
At one point the President of Egypt ordered the flooding of the tunnels that affected his country, the previous President had been a friend to the Muslim Brotherhood and encouraged it.
These tunnels are so deep in some cases and so long that they will be very difficult for the IDF to deal with. There are certain to be both live and dead hostages in them too.
Google Reuters reports and Wiki amongst others to read about them, it isn’t hidden so there’s no excuse not to know.

Babs03 Sat 20-Sept-25 20:09:26

I was unaware Israel built the tunnels. Well, well, well, what a tangled web we weave when we endeavour to deceive.
Hmmm.
Sort of blows the whole argument to bits that the IDF were using bunker blasting bombs indiscriminately because they weren’t sure where the tunnels were.

AGAA4 Sat 20-Sept-25 19:30:27

Thanks for the information about the tunnels silverlining. Throws a new light on this.

Anyone who thinks this isn't genocide should read the legal definition.

silverlining48 Sat 20-Sept-25 19:24:53

Indeed Maremia. They were built in the 1980s/ 90s, Israel woukd have known exactly where they were because the Israelis built them. No need to bomb the hospitals.

bonbons01 Sat 20-Sept-25 19:22:51

There are a network of underground tunnels in Gaza.
These tunnels are sited under buildings.
Hamas hide in the tunnels under schools, hospital and civilian housing.
The tunnels have access and egress points.
Hamas hide the hostages inside the tunnels.
Schools, hospitals and civilians housing have been turned into rubble.
Where are the egress routes for the hostages now?

Amnesty International's latest appeal was for funds, to gather and collate evidence, to use when this Genocide comes to the International Courts.

valdavi Sat 20-Sept-25 18:52:21

ronib

Very few Jews remaining in Germany in 1950. The numbers are available on the internet.

But there were ways & means of getting them out, & many escaped, which isn't true in Gaza which was, even before Oct 7th, a very large-scale prison compound,

Maremia Sat 20-Sept-25 18:52:12

ABSOLUTELY

AGAA4 Sat 20-Sept-25 18:51:15

Not all Jews were killed
Not all Palestinians have been killed.
Both genocide.

Maremia Sat 20-Sept-25 18:50:46

If you are saying that the Holocaust was a genocide, which it was, then the mass murders in Gaza are also a Genocide.
