4 of the 5 conditions are fulfilled.

UN report.

Unless someone changes tack, this war in Gaza could well last 30 years it has been suggested. I feel guilty too that there’s nothing I can do to bring about any resolution. The power lies with the Arabs who are supporting this conflict. The guilt is theirs.

When I look at those pics I feel guilty because I couldn’t stop this, I couldn’t help.
And every time I think if my GCs and how it is very much a case of ‘here by the grace of God go I’.

This isn't about defeating Hamas this carrying out what Smotrich demanded to 'cleanse' Gaza of all Palestinians. So not just Hamas.

I know. For a long time now Hamas have been taking defensive not offensive action. The aggressor hasn’t been Hamas for a very long time now.
And Israelis haven’t been the victims for a very long time now.
One only has to look at the streets of Israel and what has become of Gaza to know this is no longer a war but genocide.

Punishing hamas how? Shoot a few and tell the other 20,000 or so to behave?
In order to have peace in Gaza they all, or as many as possible have to be shot. There isn’t another way to do it.

Well there are other ways to do it, establishing a ceasefire, releasing the hostages, and engaging in talks that could lead to Hamas disarming and a fragile peace in the region. And it wouldn’t be easy, it would be extremely difficult, but if a mediator with no skin in the game and excellent mediating skills could be found to broker this I would have felt tentatively optimistic.
Hamas are good at hyperbole, most terrorist groups are, but they want to stop the bombing that is killing them as well as innocent civilians, basically they probably just want to survive after losing so many commanders and operatives in Gaza. They know that the writing is on the wall.

Marina Miron on YouTube- despite all the rhetoric from the UN, nothing really is being done.

Oreo Wed 17-Sept-25 10:22:46

In any case, hamas will never be in a position of power again in Gaza.

Oreo Wed 17-Sept-25 10:21:45

Not so sure about the never ending supply.

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 10:18:32

But there’s a never ending supply of Hamas warriors happily provided by a number of Arab countries. A great example of saying one thing and doing another? The hypocrisy of all involved is breathtaking.

You must realise that it wasn’t just a typical terrorist attack? When around 1,200 were murdered from the governing body from Gaza.

Yes, and that is exactly why all western governments were falling over themselves to support Israel in the beginning and why many posters on here could understand the military action Israel took.
But that was when we all thought Israel would punish Hamas and then seek dialogue after establishing a ceasefire.
Now Israel’s actions have revealed that this isn’t just about punishing Hamas, there is another darker agenda playing out, an agenda that becomes more obvious every day.

I think you will find that on October 7, 2023, Israel decided enough is enough.
Israel has not wiped out a whole population - there are many left still to kill. And Hamas will be defeated somehow whether or not their Qatari puppet masters agree. Babs03

Babs03 Wed 17-Sept-25 09:50:11

Correction - never resorted to wiping out a whole population in order to deal with this.

Babs03 Wed 17-Sept-25 09:49:01

I too am bewildered that posters still cling to the moral high ground despite growing certainty that genocide is taking place.
Their oft repeated mantra that Hamas must be destroyed is getting very tired, many countries have lived with terrorism for decades and never resorted to wiping out a whole population to do this. Usually they try negotiation/dialogue as well as sporadically attacking known terrorist cells.
And don’t even say it is because of the hostages, the hostages know that Netanyahu has sacrificed their loved ones.

I watched an interview on breakfast news with an ex UK Attorney General (think his surname was Ellis)

He said he had read all 72 pages of the UN’s report and according to him it is not enough to prove genocide^ in a court of law.

He was concerned that the majority of evidence emanated from Hamas (not mentioned until half way through the dossier) it could be deemed biased.

Not sure how I feel about his summary, but I am not a legal eagle

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 09:45:56

Okay Oreo. So what next? Israel is not going to back down.

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 09:42:27

Hamas is using Gazans as human shields? What does the UN propose to do about that? Oreo

Why on earth can a very well armed and large Israeli army not remove a small body of Hamas soldiers?

Is that a real question? Asking for a friend!
Hamas operatives melt into civilian backgrounds and due to tunnels conduct sniper type warfare. They use people as human shields which is why they’re begging Gazans not to move out.
They have to be picked off here and there by the IDF.

Anniebach Wed 17-Sept-25 09:30:10

I too , it is not genocide

Whitewavemark2 Wed 17-Sept-25 09:25:10

I am overwhelmed and not a little astounded that there are some posters who contrary to almost the entire world “know” that genocide is not being committed.

If any one of you can address article 2 item by item and show with a good degree of evidence, as well as taking into account previous decisions on genocide, that genocide is indeed not taking place, I will be very interested to read your argument.

Oreo Wed 17-Sept-25 09:19:51

It isn’t genocide, if the IDF could just easily get at hamas then they would do and job done.
It really is a case of hamas eliminated for any peace to follow.
I hope it will be very soon.
