Corbyn & Sultana (also irreverently known as The Fruit & Nut Party) slinging accusations at each other.

She says it’s ’a sexist boy’s club’.
He’s furious because she went ‘off piste’ and asked for donations on line.

Oh dear.

Getting off on a good footing aren’t they?
Tooting Popular Front was more organised than this lot.

That’s funny FGT must be honest I didn’t think it would last long.

This seems to be what all political parties do now. There doesn't seem to be any loyalty to the party, the manifesto or the Leader, just All About Me.
No wonder the electorate are disenchanted.

It’s like the Farage /Lowe spat all over again. Who is the biggest fish in the small pond syndrome I think they call it.

Galaxy Thu 18-Sept-25 19:47:05

It is very funny.

Splits have little splits on their backs to bite 'em...

Left wing men sidelining and excluding women 🌞, well, who’d a thought it !

Galaxy Fri 19-Sept-25 09:34:28

I know I am amazed.

It always happens in extreme parties, I've observed.

Good news for Mainstream

(If you've not heard of it, it's the middle ground grouping thats been formed in the LP, Andy Burnham being a major force.)

Yup. Years of experience. in politics. It's better, but it's very far left. (I just don't know re the Far right, although they have some Leading Ladies).

Sarnia Fri 19-Sept-25 09:45:26

I will always now think of them as the Fruit & Nut Party. That's made my day.

Galaxy Fri 19-Sept-25 09:52:49

Actually, whilst I think it is very funny, the issues with members money is quite serious, reading the comments on her twitter, it seems people are having difficulty getting refunds, having to cancel their cards, etc. It isn't really treating people with fairness and dignity is it.

TerriBull Fri 19-Sept-25 09:57:35

Whatever the political persuasion they all fall out sooner or later, just a bit sooner than expected with this new party barely off the ground. People might loosely agree politically, often the devil is in the detail, and I imagine there's an overall louder voice, me thinks possibly it's not Sultana's. She has a point about the 'sexist boys club' it's often there lurking under a veneer of egalitarianism, thinly disguised, even on the left, suppressed, but simmering below the surface until it can be constrained no longer round of teas luv, and make mine strong with three sugars

I would hope that people have heard of Mainstream. I started a thread on it just over a week ago.

The point is to discuss an issue that is on every major news channel.

I haven't seen any coverage of it at all...

I’m sure the only section of society who think these people are credible are university students and the BBC. 😁

Mind you Starmer can breathe a sigh of relief I imagine, not taking too many votes from Labour going forward.

On the other hand, Andy Burnham & Mainstream will have him reaching for the paracetamol. Especially with Lucy Powell causing waves. (Revenge being a dish best served cold).

Cumbrianmale56 Fri 19-Sept-25 15:09:58

I can't see this party doing much. Maybe some students, left wing activists and union reps will support it, but I reckon it will fail like Socialist Labour did in the nineties and Respect in the noughties. Also without Corbyn, it will do even less.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 19-Sept-25 15:49:52

Apparently Corbyn says it will be named properly in October.

Please call it "The Banana Party"
I want to see the headline : Banana splits.

I know. I need to get out more. 😂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 20-Sept-25 15:13:17

The thick plotens …. Jeremy Corbyn has warned Zarah Sultana that she should not be trying to “run” his new hard-Left party as their row deepened.

The former Labour leader appeared to take a veiled swipe at his co-founder after she announced she had called in lawyers to defend her from “baseless attacks”.

Mr Corbyn was speaking at the annual conference of the Peace and Justice Project, the organisation behind his new Left-wing party.

Galaxy Sat 20-Sept-25 15:18:16

Instructing lawyers with regard to defamation is high level drama.

Maremia Sat 20-Sept-25 17:08:12

Hadn't heard of Maintsream, thanks.
Any views on how the new Green Party leader is getting on?
Such a pity that the Reform Party is turning into a Retirement Home for clapped out Tories.

Iam64 Sat 20-Sept-25 18:08:06

Honestly, such high drama. I remember Corbyn being so grumpy with journalists , “let me finish “ he’d snarl. He doesn’t like it up him MrMannering
