This is a "short" from Sky News.

Farage plays of people’s ignorance. He speaks in slogans and sound bites and relies upon a non questioning public. Scary.
As for the swans - a bit rich coming from Farage the fox hunting supporter. Every estate has staff looking out to catch illegal poachers - it’s nothing new for people to steal animals for food regardless of who they ‘belong’ to.

Farage living rent free in Ed Davey’s head.

How is Brexit going? Farage sold us a lie. You only have to travel to Europe to see the impediment being put in place for travel from a third country. Ask the voters of Clacton how well Farage is doing as their local MP? His excuse, security. The man is an apologist for unhinged Trump. Trump has ruined America's standing in the world, he is a joke in the office of President.

Agree. I will be voting LibDems in the next GE.

They did nothing to moderate the Tories during the coalition.

Didn't they?

Well done Sir Ed Davey. I like to see politicians standing up for what they believe in, and it’s time Farage got it back.

Ed Davey is a performing clown. How can anyone take him seriously? He has 70 odd MPs and has made no impact on this parliament.

Strange that he dodges questions about the Post Office scandal.

The Lib Dems would have sold their grannies for a seat at the top table. They did nothing to moderate the Tories during the coalition. Just another party who promise one thing and do the opposite.

I spoilt my ballot at the last GE and voted Green at a local level. I know several who are considering voting Reform. They feel they have little choice given Labour and Tories are both as useless as each other. I just don't believe any of them.

I’m not a Lib Dem supporter Mamardoit, but I think you are wrong. The Lib Dem’s are offering more effective challenge to government policy than any other party. You only have to watch PMQ to see that they are on top of the brief in most areas, and they are standing as one, apparently without the same loose canons as the other opposition parties have.

Mamardoit Fri 26-Sept-25 11:28:10

And the bedroom tax?

growstuff Fri 26-Sept-25 11:09:12

Not true*Marmardoit*. The LibDems introduced the Pupil Premium when in coalition. PP was worth £2.9 billion in 2023/4.

I saw an item on the news, I think yesterday, about swans being injured. The man at the swan sanctuary said it was largely dogs that were responsible - owners allowing their dogs to go into areas where swans were present and the swans being savaged by them.

This is very true, we live near two parks with swans and every year cygnets are killed by dogs swimming in the water and parents injured by trying to protect their young.
Signs near the water clearly say to keep dogs on a leash near the water and not to allow them in the water but we have often seen those signs completely ignored.

I just wish Ed Davey would stop all of his silly antics then I could take him more seriously.

Yes I know, he reminds me of an older BluePeter presenter, and I wouldn’t vote LibDem but he does strike me as passionate about what he believes in as a politician.
Trouble is if he did win the next election he’d probably parachute into Downing Street.

With James Bond, like the Queen?

Farage has been to the US more times than he has been in his constituency, for a man who complained bitterly about foreign interference from the EU, he is certainly happy to encourage interference from Trump - and last time I looked the US is also a foreign country.
The man is full of hypocrisy.

I agree, but at least you noticed him - I think that was the idea.

You are spot on there, Growstuff.
I am terrible at recognising faces, but Ed's antics, as cringe-worthy as I find them, mean that even I do now recognise him, and being recognisable must be quite important for any would-be political leader.

Maremia Thu 25-Sept-25 18:39:30

Gosh, who to believe? Farage or the Parks department?

Ed Davey's speech didn't bypass Farage because it caused a reaction. It seems to me that Labour is pussyfooting around Reform - and even trying to outdo them - rather than attacking them head on. I happen to think Davey was absolutely spot on, so more of the same please, Ed!

Casdon Thu 25-Sept-25 17:27:59

I think it probably is illegal to kill wild birds without a licence sundowngirl, but you can definitely legally shoot geese at some times of the year. A lot of illegal wild bird and animal killing still happens in the UK unfortunately.

Thanks for the link DAR. A very clever analyisis from Phil M. And look at what has happened? We have ended up talking about swans rather than NF’s jibe at Davey’s mental state. Perhaps we should get back to that rather than give more oxygen to a fake story.

So true!
