Is the country ready for a Farage government?

According to a poll on the radio, if an election was held today Farage would be in government with 100 seat majority.

Not sure what policies people are supporting.

Trumpland here we come.

Outside the Labour Party Conference - lots of support for Thatcher! confused Do you think they know it's a Labour Party event?

I very much hope this is not the way we will go as a nation and that the other parties do not try to copy Farage in a hopeless bid to get votes. Let us look for an inclusive humanitarian non-racist vision complete with costed and practical plans.

👏👏👏👏👏

Educator Mon 29-Sept-25 15:54:37

....and who are you to judge that?

Educator Mon 29-Sept-25 15:56:51

. ...and who are you to make that judgement?!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 29-Sept-25 15:59:54

Blimey where on earth have all these new posters popped up from.

Babamaman Mon 29-Sept-25 16:02:18

This is exactly what Farage did when he spouted out the EU Brexit rhetoric! Give back our borders! Etc! He winds people up and then disappears, and denies his actions when they fail!
Remember £350million per week for the NHS on the side of the bus!
And he still gets his MEP pension, has a home in France! Very much ‘do as I say’. ‘Not as I do’!
A dangerous prospect as PM

Does Starmer realise that he's indirectly calling anyone who supports Reform racist? He's brassing off a LOT of people. Not clever at all.

Applegran Mon 29-Sept-25 16:05:30

Starmer in an interview I saw specifically said he thinks Farage is racist but not Farage's followers.

A lot of Reform supporters are racist though 🙄

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 29-Sept-25 16:06:53

Hmm. So his supporters just agree Farage is ‘racist’ and go along with it? I don’t think so.

It would be much better for the Labour Party if transparency was apparent when assigning government contracts. So no relative of a current or past government minister was able to work the system. I wish ….

I agree. Mind you, every time I think of government contracts Mone and PPE spring to mind!

Dreadnought Mon 29-Sept-25 16:07:30

People say Reform would be bad but look what we have now - bad. A government of u-turns, half-truths and only seems to react to Reform instead of pushing policies.
Much of Reforms support comes from the white working class - the people who once were labour but have been left behind by the middle class trendy labour party of today. Where are some sensible ideas - what about housing, health and education?

@MayBee70
The media wants to stir the pot in order to see what bottom feeder rises to the surface.
They want sensationalism and outrage not to actually factually report something.
Imho the media are morally bankrupt and in no small part responsible for the mess we find ourselves in.

I thought he actually stated Farage’s policies on settlement status and indefinite leave to remain were racist?

AnotherAppleCrumble Mon 29-Sept-25 16:09:10

Starmer may have qualified his remarks but he gave the headline writers a gift and that is all that many people will read.

They will therefore think that he called all those worried about migration are racist.

I wonder if Andy Burnham told him that this would be a good idea!

I agree.

This is all so reminiscent of the 1930’s and Mosley. Have we learned nothing, or do we enjoy going backwards, much as many USA States are, particularly with women’s rights?

I would hazard a guess, but I might get barred meself! grin

Wasn’t that what the misguided thought Brexit was about? We’ve been this way before.

Nobody would describe themselves as racist. Neither Farage, Trump, Musk, Yaxley Lennon, or any of their followers.
And they get upset when people call them this.
Of course they always have justification/an excuse. But of course if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck…

I hope not!
Not sure that anyone knows what their policies are - nor how they dream they might fund them! But I expect they will wriggle out of that too.
Would be good to hear proportionally on news programmes from the other parties who have far more seats eg Liberal Democrats who have 72 seats rather than Farage's 5.

There are columnists in The Times, Sunday Times and The Spectator who have all written that 2TK has more or less shot himself in the foot by making such an inane statement. Silly silly man.
