Was this on anyone's bingo card?

Sadgrandma Tue 30-Sept-25 23:17:30

Does this mean that, if Hamas doesn’t agree, Trump is gives Israel permission to kill more children in Gaza by bombing or starvation?

Sueinkent Tue 30-Sept-25 22:47:24

The three of them: Netanyahu, Trump and Bliar should be in prison.

Mojack26 Tue 30-Sept-25 21:43:14

Worth a try but.... there will never be peace in Middle East. Trump wants The Nobel Peace Prize and Heaven knows about Blair! Don't treast any of them.

CariadAgain Tue 30-Sept-25 21:20:11

The live coverage is up there on various channels from various countries. Probably the best is the Maktoob channel on YouTube. Heading is "LIVE: Global Sumud Flotilla entering 'danger area' near Gaza"

CariadAgain Tue 30-Sept-25 21:16:54

Re Gaza - the global aid flotilla to Gaza is about to enter the dangerzone in about 15 minutes time. They are streaming their yachts about to sail into it live - especially so that the world will know/see if they are attacked by the Israeli Government. Videos up there now on YouTube giving the live coverage.......

Hope so 🙏

There are Hamas residing in Qatar , and those on the ground in Gaza. It will be the Qatar contingent who will likely to have had some input into the baseline document. It will, be those on the ground who have not been consulted who will object to it I think.

Let us hope the “bosses” in Qatar prevail.

AGAA4 Tue 30-Sept-25 19:52:19

A senior Hamas figure has told the BBC that they are likely to reject Trump's plan as it serves Israel's interests and ignores those if the Palestinians.

David49 Tue 30-Sept-25 19:11:23

All we can do is wait and see if Hamas accepts the deal, then it will depend on what “actually” happens.

If the US is funding the peace keeping force and rebuilding, others will join in everyone wants peace in Gaza

Anniebach Tue 30-Sept-25 18:20:03

There are others who will be named in next few days

Allira Tue 30-Sept-25 18:03:03

Well, if he has Trump on-side he might have a chance of succeeding but I'm wondering just what he has achieved so far over the past 18 years.
Maybe I am just a sceptic.

This has been on the cards for many months now. Blair has been active both in the Middle East with the Arab nations and Washington, beginning to get the basics together for an interim government.

You will find fewer people more knowledgable about the Middle East so if this can be pulled off then - bloody brilliant. Of course Blair and the USA were involved in the GFA with almost impossible odds. So all power to them I say if it saves a single child’s life or ends such dreadful suffering.
Frankly I couldn’t give a damn about Blair’s past in this, I wish him every success with all my might.

Peace for the people of Israel and Gaza -

Just quoting this again as I agree with every word. There will be no better way to get the hostages out alive, it’s a last chance for them and for hamas to get out of there and a safety measure for anyone in Gaza City.It could bring things to an end straight away, and Tony Blair is a very good choice.

I’m reposting as I’m another in agreement.

Blair was wrong on .iraq but he’s been right on many things. He’s a skilled negotiator and I’ve no reason to doubt he wants peace

Maybe my memory is short here, or convenient, but didn’t Tony Blair anoint himself as Middle East Peace Envoy?
Apologies if I’m wrong

I think it was a UN position.
www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/may/27/tony-blair-resigns-as-middle-east-peace-envoy-report

It was over ten years ago anyway and after that he founded the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change in 2016, and currently serves as its Executive Chairman. Its aim is to counter populism and extremism.

EEJit Tue 30-Sept-25 17:37:44

I wouldn't give Trump and Blair a single inch.

I neither like nor trust either of them. One is an American warmonger and complete moron, and the other is a complete and other pratt.

Two points, Trump wants peace
Gaza could be the Riviera of the Middle East.
Thinks he should have the Noble Peace prize.

tattygran14 Tue 30-Sept-25 16:15:58

What could possibly go wrong?

keepingquiet Tue 30-Sept-25 16:00:29

Israel won't recognise a Palestinian State and without it there will be no peace- let's all come back next year...

If this peace plan goes ahead I will give Blair the benefit of the doubt before condemning him.

But how long will it last?

AGAA4 Tue 30-Sept-25 15:49:51

I don't really care who wants to take credit for peace. I doubt the people of Gaza and the hostages care either. They just want an end to all the suffering.
It will be a huge achievement whoever is involved in stopping this war. I wish every success to those trying to bring peace.

Babs03 Tue 30-Sept-25 15:41:10

Talking about the GFA of course

Babs03 Tue 30-Sept-25 15:40:51

I give credit to Blair and the inimitable Mo Mowlam but not forgetting Major started the process. Am not a Tory but am aware that his role is often overlooked.

Maremia Tue 30-Sept-25 15:39:09

This is the nearest it's been. Time will tell, but today most of us are in the Hope Zone.
Everything crossed.

Amen to all that.
👏👏👏👏👏

Netanyahu is well known in the Arab countries for agreeing to things to get himself out of a tight spot. Perhaps he feels sure that Hamas will not agree as he knows them well having funded them for many years.
