Not much will be given back. A company was set up specifically for this PPE (all goods obtained from China too!) and the day before the Court verdict the account went into administration.

Such a shady pair (her and Barrowman) - well apart from their matching ‘teef’.

I agree, I don't believe that we'll see much money going back. It's like a company going into liquidation before they've fulfilled your order, you have to be very lucky to get any deposit back.

It seems there is no mechanism to remove peerages - so we have had Jeffrey Archer, and now probably Peter Mandelson and Baroness Mone, both of whom have unbelievable brass neck, in the House of Lords. How warming to have such people as the final arbiters of our laws ; makes me proud to be British.

We will never see the money repaid and yes her 'honour' should be removed from her!

My thoughts too but they were desperate for PPE which was in very short supply. Mone had already cosied up to Cameron & Co so she was front and centre when the Government were looking for someone to fulfil this urgently.
I hope Labour have some way of recouping every last penny of the £122m and I hope the Proceeds of Crime Act has the power to seize their assets, which are considerable, that the her and her husband have got through crime.

The Baroness has written a letter of complaint to the PM about the use of the word vendetta. She is certainly not backward at coming forward. I do hope that she can scrape together enough funds to finance her legal remedies.
Concluding her letter, Baroness Mone said: "Prime Minister, I ask you directly: do you stand by your chancellor's assertion that the government has a vendetta against me? Or will you act decisively to end this campaign, protect my safety, and restore integrity to government?

"Failure to take urgent action will leave me with no choice but to pursue all available legal remedies, including defamation, harassment, and misfeasance claims, while also taking steps to ensure my personal safety and that of my family."

I attended a meeting some years ago where she was the guest speaker. There was something about her I didn't like then and I didn't know why. Now I think I do!

The sterile status of the gowns was checked by health officials in September 2020 on arrival in UK and rejected on first sight as not meeting UK legal standard therefore could not be used in the NHS and UK distribution was stopped . Medpor argued they met Chinese sterile standards and the government knew they were being manufactured in China but the judge rejected that argument. The agency that inspected the gowns gave evidence in the trial. Medpro was sent formal notice they were defective, and the DHSC commissioned tests which found a high proportion were not sterile. Medpro disputed the validity of the results, but the judge rejected that argument also.

As for Michelle Mone alleging malicious comments and death threats on her social media have increased since Rachel Reeves joked at the conference using the word "vendetta"- the timing coincides with the trail outcome and Badenoch saying Mone "should have the book thrown against her" so can not surely be attributed alone to Rachel Reeves. The woman feels really hard done by and just doesn't understand the level of public outrage against her. Thats not going to change anytime soon....-

For a woman who stole vast sums from taxpayers, and lied to everyone about it, Ms Mone seems a delicate flower in the face of righteous indignation.
Her family will be safe, I'm sure, as she has millions of pounds to pay for security..some of it ours.

Oh, and in her shoes, I'd be careful about talking about " integrity" in case a thunderbolt from Heaven struck me.

Yes, very sensible of Sir Keir not to respond and get involved in a slanging match with her. I hope he sits back and allows the process of claiming the money back from her to get underway. Clearly a desperate woman who in these days of social media will be getting unpleasant comments. She's an unpleasant woman to put it mildly.

She will have moved most of her money to where the Government cant access it ... we will be the losers ...

She is an astute businesswoman from a humble background. She worked her way up first through modelling then by designing bras. She is very driven. I like her but she must pay back every penny plus interest if she played a leading role in sourcing/procuring the faulty PPE.

Plenty of successful business people with backgrounds llke hers are crooks to the core and have made their money by just such dodgy dealing.

I would say the chances of her being suitable penitent and paying all ther illgotten gains are as likely as me being granted a place in the House of Lords.

If she stayed in prison until the money was repaid, it would soon be forthcoming. We are too soft on criminals..
