In response to a tweet that asked, “Who controls the news” from another account, Kriel claimed the news is “96 per cent Jewish owned but not sure what percentage Zionist”.

When challenged on her comment, she continued to spread the antisemitic trope.

Kriel said: “I’m reliably informed that it’s 96 per cent Israeli controlled.”

She continued: “What... Israelis have no access to the internet? Most of us have been following the live-streaming of the genocide that way especially as 96 per cent of all media is Jewish owned.”

Daniel Sugarman, Director of Public Affairs for the Board of Deputies called the tweet a “prime example” of “virulent antisemitism.”

Sugarman said: “A proud self-declared ‘anti-racist’, previously a well-regarded headteacher, now an education consultant. Just casually and publicly coming out with Der Stürmer grade antisemitism.”

Government adviser, Tom Bennett OBE wrote on X/Twitter that Kriel’s comments were “A ghastly anti-semitic conspiracy theory.”

He told Kriel to delete her tweet: "take a while to reconsider your stance towards one of the most oppressed groups in history. It may be unintentional, but it contributes to a climate of fear, hatred and racism.”

Kriel’s tweets were still online at the time of publication.

Apologies for quoting such a long post but imo it’s an important one. Kreil has set out clearly anti semitic tropes. I will check but I don’t know what proportion of pupils at her school are Jewish. I’d be moving my children if Jewish

I’m also very concerned that a headteacher with anti semitic views has influence over children.

I have heard Trump speaking about his peace plan and he doesn’t seem open to giving either side the option of not complying. This will be interesting.

For what it’s worth, most people in and around major cities and towns will have had the opportunity to get to know Jews. It’s not hard to make friends with them - and some of us will have Jewish ancestors. The same doesn’t apply to Arabs and Palestinians. I have not had the same opportunities to mix and befriend. It doesn’t mean that I don’t want to - more the opportunity is not available.

Goodness all this talk of ageism is a bit silly IMO. I'm coming up to 77, do I expect to live for decades more.? Absolutely not. But it was not the first ageist post from CariadAgain anticipating with hope that an older person will soon be dead and, as has been pointed out, it is deeply unpleasant on a site aimed at older people, some of whom are living with incurable or life-limitin illnesses.

As most of us are neither Israelis or Palestinians in other words disinterested parties to this conflict I wonder why some have compassion for one side only. Surely both have suffered immense loss.

We do have to adjust for the fact that (all of) Palestine is the Palestinians country and they were living there anyway. Whereas, as I understand it, the vast majority of people that decided to live there too from the 2nd World War onwards and chuck the previous occupants out are not Palestinians or anything like - there's all sorts of nationalities of people that have gone to live in the grabbed part of Palestine and those people could have just as well stayed in their own country they personally are a native of or moved to another country instead - and not tried to take over the Palestinians' country en masse.

It's like "Why would anyone have compassion for someone else that has tried to set up camp in one's garden? It is one's garden and they are intruders trying to grab one's garden for themselves". Something many of us have experience of - and so we understand just how it feels to have someone trying to steal some of our land from us. Even those of us that have never had that issue can see "It is their land - ie the Palestinians - so why were outsiders trying to make out it's theirs and being very violent about chucking the rightful owners off" (those settlers for instance!).

We know that it's a part of land-grabbing to tell a lie and say it is yours anyway (even when it isn't) - but some excuse is found as they scrabble desperately for some means of justifying the theft. So - yep - that is why some of us have our sympathies more with the Palestinians - because they are the rightful owners (even those of us that havent been given our family trees to prove our family goes back centuries in that country).

I truly believe that most Posters on this Thread want peace and safety and stability in this troubled region for all of the races and religions affected. Apart from the Criminals, on both sides.

If phase two is reached that will be enormous as phase one was achieved for a short period back in January until the Israeli government scuppered it.

TRIP been talking to Blair, who says that Kushner and whitkoff have been impressive throughout the proceedings.

The basic framework is Gaza without IDF and Hamas, neither yet achieved.

Israel has the tools for heavy lifting and moving rubble. They occupy 53% of Gaza - surely now is the time to help the Israeli bereaved and look for their loved ones remains by working with the Palestinians.

I guess that the Palestinians have a ball-park idea where they might be, and it could be speeded up with Israeli assistance.

That could, at least, be one constructive suggestion there. Not remotely near to any "building bridges" - but it might help all round (ie using those tools to lift the heavy rubble).

If it is indeed the case that various factions in the Gaza part of Palestine are fighting with each other = then maybe the other lot (Netanyahu's lot) are doing what they can to deliberately encourage that - on the basis of "Less of them to 'deal with' and less people trying to live on that bit of land that we want (ie Gaza) if they kill each other". It makes a horrible sort of twisted sense...

Yes I do know that but the WH knows that the ones on the ground are the ones they are working with.

If that true they havn’t had any success yet in weakening Hamas, the executions we are seeing is more likely hard line Hamas killing moderate factions.

I fear the situation we have in Haiti where armed gangs rule the streets and nobody wants to get involved to provide security, this is a very real prospect for Gaza. Israel of course doesnt mind Palestinians killing each other.

Recovering bodies in a war zone is very difficult a belligerent Hamas makes it more difficult if not impossible.

And yet we read that they are in contact with the WH.

There are no accurate data on what weaponry they have, other than what was/is on public display over the last few days and weeks back on the release of hostages (which was turned into a disgusting pantomime of propaganda)

Terrorists do not think rationally, their aim is to kill or be killed and be greeted by virgins on their death. Oh and the virgins will have no bodily fluids, do not urinate, defecate, cry etc.

One really shouldn’t be surprised given the level of destruction and chaos. The very least the Israelis could do is to send in a delegation to give them a hand in trying to find the remains.

Stooping aid will do nothing to help the bereaved.

I think Hamas is stretching out the return of the bodies to prolong stage 1 of the peace agreement. I can only guess that this tactic is stalling for time so that weapons can be shipped out or in some way concealed. Or maybe more specifically, to make it harder to proceed to stage 2.
We’re not dealing with a bunch of boys scouts after all.
