Gaza, or their government hamas were the aggressors by invading Israel, murdering over a thousand residents and taking over 200 hostages alive and dead.They, and only they are responsible for the war.

Oreo, but how exactly countries respond to aggressors is in their own gift, isn’t it? In my ideal world there would be an international peacekeeping force that would thwart the majority of, and be immediately responsive to, acts of terrorism, perpetrators would be caught and tried, and no further innocent bystander lives would be lost.
My fear for Israel is that the national reputation is tarnished as a result of government over-reaction, and that terrorism will rise as a result. I’m sorry if my thoughts offend you, but I can’t help feeling that as I said, wars are ultimately lost by all sides.

Is Israel’s reputation tarnished? If so, does Israel actually care? Who is doing the tarnishing? I got the impression that for Israel just being alive was more important than being perceived as a walkover or Mr Nice Guy. I think the days when Israel cared about its image have long gone.

My son told me there was trouble in Spain when the Israeli team were there and the race had to be abandoned. It seems that wherever they go there is trouble and it is due to the negative image of Israel in many countries.

I’m sure that is true for some. However there are also people who are pro Israel, myself included, who are shocked at Israel’s government response to Gaza. It is that response which tarnishes the reputation. It’s not about prejudice against ordinary citizens at all, they have had no control over what has happened, just as we didn’t as citizens with Iraq.

It really is time Israel opened up Rafah. The medical aid/medicines etc, are desperately needed for the diseases now flying their way through the population, particularly children whose immune system are completely shot through malnutrition.
