Interesting that Robinson has been applauded. Taking his own form of racism to Israel.

Maremia Sun 19-Oct-25 20:10:14

When it suits them.

Israel has said it will return to ceasefire hours after carrying out strikes in Gaza.
A ceasefire occasionally 🤔

windmill1 Sun 19-Oct-25 19:05:22

Just listened to BBC Radio 4 news. Sad. The ceasefire seems to be breaking down.

What now Mr Trump?

MayBee70 Sun 19-Oct-25 18:52:12

Fom The Times of Israel...
'British far-right and anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson is heckled during a speaking event in Tel Aviv, with an attendee shouting, “Tommy Robinson is a racist.”

The interruption is met with loud boos and chants of “shame on you” from many in the audience, followed by Robinson inviting the heckler to join him on stage.

“The far-left extremist has left the building,” Robinson declares as the protester exits'.
Wondered how people felt about this [apologies if it has been mentioned elsewhere].

Members of Netanyahu's government have made the same declaration Annie.

....and their actions back up the fact they would dearly love for the Palestinians to vanish totally from their own country in a puff of smoke. But, meanwhile, they'll kill them, imprison them, help the settlers steal their land, etc.

Anniebach Sun 19-Oct-25 18:19:12

One group has declared many times , it will kill all of the other group.

The IDF can do no wrong of course while most of us heartily condemn Hamas. Seeing both sides is more balanced.

Now wondering how to "see both sides" - when one group of people is steadily stealing land from the rightful owners, imprisoning the rightful owners, etc, etc.

Maybe I'm supposed to go off to someone I realised wasn't really a friend of mine when it became clear he was trying to steal from me - and I'd not realised I'm supposed to forgive him and resume what I thought was "friendship"? Hmm......I'll need a while to think that one through. Maybe I shouldn't have done the "instant - cut off within literally 5 minutes" thing I do if I realise theft has happened or is planned to happen.....

Theft at any level = there is no "other side" and it neatly balances out. If they're a thief they are a thief and the same applies at individual level and national level.

Maremia

CNN is usually a reliable source.

I find CNN more balanced than Fox news but tbh it's impossible to know what's going on without proper oversight by foreign journalists. However, Netanyahu has admitted that Israel is funding militia groups in Gaza so it's a definite possibility that Hamas are attacking them and not the IDF but who knows? Netanyahu helped to create Hamas so he's very capable of creating other militia groups as a counter balance. What an absolute mess!

Annie Israel is not fighting to free Gaza of Hamas…they just want the land for themselves and the Palestinian people gone.By whatever means they decide to use against civilians.
THis didn,t start on Oct 7th it started over 70 years ago.
My friend and colleague has been here for well over 30 years as a result of Israeli governments greed for land that isn,t theirs and anyone who has got in their way has been incarcerated or killed and Hes that does include children. You really need to look at facts ..and NOT hark back to the Holocaust which was without a doubt a stain on humankind BUT it wasn,t Palestinians who carried it out .Netanyahu appears to have learned some of his tactics FROM the Nazi,s so shame on him and all who support him .!

So, possibly the ones that are of most danger to the ordinary folk are actually the 'gangs' who have been armed by Israel?

foxie48 Sun 19-Oct-25 17:47:09

This is on CNN's website regarding the violations of the peace deal. "While much is unknown about the incident in Rafah, it occurred on Sunday morning as Hamas said its internal Rada’a security force was targeting a “hideout” of an Israel-backed militia led by Yasser Abu Shabab. In June, Israel confirmed it was arming several such militias in an attempt to counter Hamas.
Muhammad Shehada, a Gaza expert at the European Council on Foreign Relations, said these militias now operate from within Israeli-occupied areas in Gaza from which they “descend on the other half of Gaza, carry out attacks, then go run back to those protected areas.”

Netanyahu will keep fanning the flames: if there were a genuinely solid and lasting peace then he'd be in real danger of being handed over to the International Criminal Court.

Who would dob him in?

Trump of course. He owes no loyalty or faith to anyone but himself, he's de-ranged and he would do it out of pure and warped vindictiveness.

To think that man has the password to the nuclear option.

Maremia Sun 19-Oct-25 17:26:45

It's just back to the same sad story. Families thinking they are safe.

Anniebach Sun 19-Oct-25 17:21:57

Hamas will not give up their power and Israel will not give up the need to free Gaza of Hamas

Smileless2012 Sun 19-Oct-25 17:21:02

I agree Jane.

Israel have said they will suspend aid into Gaza as Hamas have breached the peace process. Hamas is blaming Israel.

This is so tragic but sadly predictable.

25Avalon Sun 19-Oct-25 17:16:17

Well WWM2 I too had hoped Trump could do something to keep the peace process. Big question is what will he do next with both sides seemingly breaking the peace agreement although that was probably only a temporary agreement as a start towards obtaining some kind of workable and peaceful solution.

foxie48 Sun 19-Oct-25 16:15:27

Has there been a "rush to condemn Israel?" Oreo Having read through reports that are currently available, there seems to be some confusion as to which side violated the peace first. If you have completely unbiased information, please share it.

AGAA4 Sun 19-Oct-25 16:14:38

Thanks foxie. Sounds interesting.

foxie48 Sun 19-Oct-25 16:05:03

There is an extremely interesting documentary on BBC sounds called "A people's history of Gaza", if you don't have the time to listen to the full programme about 3/4 of the way in there is a section on the 2006 election in Palestine, which is well worth listening to. The programme talks to ordinary people in Israel and Gaza about their experiences and covers the period 1948 onwards linked with the history of Gaza.
