Of course as you say Oreo the IDF had to react when they came under fire while dismantling tunnel entrances that does not though compare to shooting a 10 year old for throwing a stone and killing a family for going over the 'yellow line'.
Hamas are a ruthless terrorist organisation, the IDF are soldiers and perhaps naively some of us believed they would behave differently.
In a rush to condemn Hamas there is no attempt from some to condemn the IDF for their brutality.

Breaking Peace in the Middle East? Continued thread.
(333 Posts)In a new violation of the ceasefire, Occupation Forces carried out a horrific massacre yesterday against the Abu Shaaban family on the outskirts of Zaytun.
Victims include:
• Ihab Nasser Abu Shaaban (38) – husband
-Randa Majid Muhammad Abu Shaaban (36) – wife
-Nasser Ihab Abu Shaaban (13) – son
-Jumana Ihab Abu Shaaban (10) – daughter
-Ibrahim Ihab Abu Shaaban (6) – son
-Muhammad Ihab Abu Shaaban (5) – son
Also killed were his sister Samer Muhammad Nasser Shaaban (Abu Shaaban before marriage), her husband Sufyan Othman Shaaban, and their three children:
-Nesma Sufyan Shaaban (12)
-Karam Sufyan Shaaban (10)
-Anas Sufyan Shaaban (8)
Every announcement by Hamas is accepted as truth and as more wrongdoings by Israel
In the rush to condemn Israel (as always on these threads) there is no attempt to acknowledge that hamas attacked soldiers therefore violating the peace deal, and which they had already violated by murdering a bunch of Gazans in the city square.hamas were killing anyone thought not to be supportive of them or working for the family clans.
The IDF were dismantling tunnel entrances in Gaza City and came under fire so of course they are going to react.
Hamas have everything to lose now with the ceasefire and were always going to try and regain control even if it was just in a limited way. They have no future.
It’s one of the Goalhanger podcasts.
Its title is Empire and one of its series is about Palestine and the history of the region from about 1450BC to present day.
Maremia
What's the Empire podcast WhiteWave?
I found what I think they are referring to - on YouTube.
A podcast series on various issues.
I think possibly the one meant is "Origins of the Israel-Palestine conflict".
A very quick glance at it and the title probably gives the clue of what side it's coming from......"Origins of the clue clue clue-Palestine conflict". Substitute the words "clue clue clue"....
But there are some very good ones up on YouTube about the Nakba and that explain exactly what happened and why.....for those who've not been eyewitnesses to the murder/land dispossession of the Palestines (or, as in my case, had a father who witnessed it).
Also worth checking out that there are videos on YouTube as well that told me something I didn't know - about why the oppressors don't want to take DNA tests - ie because they disprove the notion that "We're older than you Palestinians are....we personally can trace back a heritage in your country for longer than you can" and then refuse to take the DNA tests that would prove otherwise....as they're trying to trace back 2,000 years - but won't get the evidence (because they know they're wrong).
What's the Empire podcast WhiteWave?
Try Empire podcast as well - 8 or 9 episodes about the history of the region.
I had hoped (naively I suppose) that Trump would have control over Netanyahu’s excesses, and his never ending warmongering.
The only people who can possibly stop him are the Israelis I think.
Possibly not....probably not.....as it isn't exactly peaceful and when people aren't being allowed back into half of Gaza now then = it's not surprising if (when!) it doesn't.
I can't see this being peacefully resolved in my lifetime for sure or another lifetime beyond it.
Meanwhile - I can feel a lot of reading coming on. I've been on the lookout for good objective history books specifically about this - as I certainly know the general gist of this through from the 1940s.
So lined-up on my "to read" shelf now:
- "the Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine - Ilan Pappe
and
- "the Hundred years' war on Palestine - a history of settler colonial conquest and resistance" - Rashid Khalidi
That ain't gonna be an easy one for me - as I'm future-oriented. But sometimes one has to know the past to understand the present ....
The children of Gaza have lost their childhood and now Netanyahu has told the IDF to act forcefully so more children will be killed.
He was never going to abide by a peace deal. The IDF have been killing people saying they have been a security threat like the little boy with a stone. It was all a ploy to get the fighting going again.
This peace is not going to hold is it😢.
Both Hamas and Israel are champing at the bite.
Those poor, poor people.
The Guardian has some poignant stories just now about how schoolchildren have been trying to cope during the bombardments and destruction.

And of course by commenting, you are helping to keep this thread thriving, thank you, so that some of us will be able to continue to express our concern for the people of Gaza, and the injustice and crimes still being committed against them.
For example, an innocent family being executed in that way, simply trying to find somewhere safe
Would hate to see this Thread fade and fall though lack of support
No fear of lack of support for all announcements made by Hamas

My apologies Annie for making the assumption that you would be against the IDF shooting a family in a bus.
It is, of course, for you to express your thoughts on a family being killed in a bus.
Thank you, I will comment on anything i choose, always done so

I’ve just come into this post and I cannot find anything in our main line news about this so called massacre which has been described by partisan parties in the Middle East. Is there anything by a more independent organisation to verify what has happened? I’m not saying it didn’t but I’d just like be satisfied the information is correct. So many atrocious on both sides.
You might find it useful to look up the American news channel on "YouTube" that is called "Democracy Now". Despite it being a channel from one of the countries well -known to be on one side (and that ain't the Palestinians side) = it is nevertheless objective and well-balanced and that Amy Goodman does seem to know her stuff.
Israel will carpet bomb Gaza as soon as the,ast hostage is handed over.I said that on here at the start of the bombings and I still believe it to be true,.
Trump said Netanyahu asked for bombs and used them well!,, There is no hope for peace the Israel government don’t want peace, they never have ,they want ALL Palestinians off the land they know as home .
It’s sickening but predictable
Israeli war planes have bombed an area by the Rafah Crossing. They say Hamas have breached the ceasefire. Hamas say Israel have done the same by funding gangs in Gaza.
There hasn't been a massacre. The US are concerned that an attack by Hamas is imminent which will breach the ceasefire. BBC news website.
There's nothing in The Washington post but CNN has just reported that Hamas violated the peacefire agreement by firing rockets near Rafah. Hamas has denied this and say they are committed to the peace process. Nothing about a massacre.

Well Anniebach I rarely agree with you but as Voltaire has quoted I will defend your right to say it.
I didn't say it was Annie I was responding to you suggesting that Maremia was claiming to speak for all on this thread.
