This grooming gang situation and the lack of action is the worst thing I have ever heard about Britain in my lifetime. Far worse than the Epstein scandal. I would be so ashamed if I was one of those politicians turning a blind eye. Hope they can’t sleep at night.

Grooming gangs in London
(391 Posts)If everyone stuck to the OP, it wouldn't be the GN style, now, would it?
last sentence correction -should read
"Thank goodness on the whole these have been left behind by a chunk of younger men and women" but..etc.
I feel under no obligation to follow exactly the subject as in the O\P
because I do not believe they neither should or can be separated out.
As far as I am aware we are not obliged in GN to follow the views of the O/P, and they are just that, views on part of a wider subject.
We are talking about endemic abuse of women and girls by powerful, nearly entirely all men and its up to us women to call it out wherever it is.
You'd maybe be surprised by the number of women who when I have opened up admit quietly that, well, such and such does/has happened in their lives - because many men are still repeating old patterns.
Thank goodness on the whole these are been by a chunk of younger men and women, but its still endemic.
You mean you don't like or agree with what I said.
Posts upthread are also a spin in that sense, ie just a different "take" on an issue.
Having experienced Domestic Abuse over quite along period myself I feel very entitled to speak out:
I also am about to volunteer at our local support and counselling organisation for those girls and women who have been subject to abuse and been invited to speak out at a conference at the end of November run by the L Party local women as we are unhappy with burying the subject in its entirety.
So why are we only talking about those abusers yet again and ignoring the huge levels of domestic abuse going on day after day, in homes of white people, white gangs?
Primrose just said grooming gangs.
You are putting a spin on all this, too, Wyllow, which is detracting from the horror of it all.

It is dishonest and quite deliberate, and a tactic that Labour employ with increasing frequency; refusing to admit the situation, denying it exists, then agreeing to an investigation but simply ignoring it.
Inquiries were promised after Jess Phillips did her best to limit them to five only; there was footage of her in Parliament blaming the Tories for everything because it happened during their watch. Perhaps now she realises the difficulties and obstructions they and anyone else has in conducting an investigation with people as unfortunately influential as Sadiq Khan denying the facts.
Excuse me: the initial report on the grooming gangs came out in 2022 under the Conservative government, with 22 recommendations, and only one was put in place by the conservatives, that was to set up units in some cities with special knowledge and powers
It was left. Nothing was done to follow up on prosecutions nor protection for women and girls still being abused
So the Labour Party combine and have actually implemented more of those recommendations. Clearly coverups are completely wrong, I would never defend them, but lets ask the question
Why didnt Boris Johnson and then Truss and then Sunak move ahead on prosecutions? Why didn't they put any more measures in place to protect those still being abused
and note: Maggie Oliver is not just concerned with abuse done by those of non white origin: she covers all abuse, including that of young men
So why are we only talking about those abusers yet again and ignoring the huge levels of domestic abuse going on day after day, in homes of white people, white gangs?
Speaking as a victim of co-ercive abuse over 11 years and a member of the Labour Party I can assure you that most of us do not support suppressing any abuse whatsoever. And I ask again
why was it not immediately tacked after the years long, huge cost,
Here is the report: there was ample evidence to then proceed further over 3 years ago

And apart from that I just read that two victims of the grooming gangs in Bradford have resigned from the supposed inquiry there. In four months nothing has been set up and proposed chairs are from former police and social services.
The women have had enough of both in the past and it’s akin to them marking their own homework.
It’s just so depressing.I saw their interviews on breakfast news, my heart goes out to these brave young women.
It is disgraceful that those who were there to protect them sided with their abusers 🤬🤬🤬
Listen to one of the victims giving us the reasons why she ( and 2 others) are not attending)
It’s a complete stitch up.

10 pm tonight GB News has a lengthy interview with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood about the grooming gangs.
GB News is the only TV Channel she is talking to or at least the first.
Maggie Oliver coming on shortly.
Deny! Deny! Deny! Victim blame, acceptance after an overwhelming tsunami of evidence is produced, lessons have been learned, An enquiry. Meanwhile it will be carrying on somewhere or other

SK is on record 10 times denying the existence of Asian Grooming Gangs in London.
I am not in the least bit surprised he has been found to be wrong 🤬🤬🤬
How SK can sleep at night is beyond me.
The authorities have finally admitted they got it wrong and they covered up something they were fully aware of and it seems are still doing so.
We only have to read of all the rapes and sexual assaults on young girls and women by immigrant men to know these men think white women are considered fair game.
Big U turn tonight from the Police who now say there ARE grooming gangs in London despite Sadiq Khan saying otherwise. Should have listened to Maggie Oliver. 😉
This needs updating but explains some of it
