And so they should! Had any other TV channel done this they would have been closed down. The truth will out.

The BBC have got away with so much over the years and have always been biased and many would say, corrupt. Martin Bashir, Jimmy Savile, Huw Edwards etc

Many of have heard of the books about the hunk hero Reacher, by Lee Child.

Pretty non political, I always thought, as per righting wrongs.

But no.

The quote deliberately posted by Lee Child himself on his Facebook page Feb 12th soon after the US election:

www.facebook.com/LeeChildOfficial/posts/i-dont-care-about-the-little-guy-i-just-hate-the-big-guy-i-hate-big-smug-people-/1167180641432047/

I just hate the big guy. I hate big smug people who think they can get away with things

(in the novel "Persuader", out as TV series on Prime, which is where I picked it up from).

Correct: its at 1am of course.

Trump was on the news this morning saying everything on the BBC is fake. Shows how ridiculous he actually is.
He, along with others, has been trying to undermine Britain for a while now.
Even though I am disappointed in the BBC for allowing this to happen I will stand up for our British Broadcasting Company against Trump.

Does he realise what he’s trying to do? People might moan about the BBC but it’s ours and we’ll fight to protect it against someone who wouldn’t know the truth if it hit him in the face.

I don’t agree that DT has been trying to undermine the UK as such, he loves visiting here and admires most things British.
He gets along in public with Starmer but admits he doesn’t like the Labour Party ( in so many words.)

AGAA4 Sat 15-Nov-25 15:23:34

Trump's close people, Vance, Hesgarth and Musk have definitely tried to undermine the UK. Trump himself may not have done but he will have been aware of the animosity.
Trump loves all the pomp and ceremony he gets in the UK and does have regard for the king but his people aren't with him on this.

Well in that case why's he attacking us?

Galaxy Sat 15-Nov-25 15:27:27

He is sueing the BBC as they misrepresented his words. I don't feel under attack. I to be honest don't care either way who wins, if it goes ahead.

Because the BBC have transmitted a programme that used clever and untrue editing of his speeches.I can’t think of anyone that wouldn’t be very unhappy with that. The BBC has prestige in the world, it’s not just any old news channel.

AGAA4 Sat 15-Nov-25 16:01:31

Trump will have to prove that harm was done to him and as he was voted in as president soon after then he may find that difficult. He lost no money or prestige. He was also accused of incitement to riot in the US so not innocent.

ronib Sat 15-Nov-25 16:08:30

In what way is Trump not innocent? He was acquitted.
Is there a concept of personal emotional harm? Of course emotional harm was caused.

Kandinsky Sat 15-Nov-25 16:12:40

I wouldn’t want to be taking on Donald Trump whatever you may think of him. grin

Bullies always need to be taken on.

ronib Sat 15-Nov-25 16:40:07

But who is the bully? The BBC in this instance?

The legal requirement for a UK TV licence is that you must have a TV licence if you watch or record live TV programmes as they are being broadcast on any channel or service, or if you use BBC iPlayer to watch or download on-demand BBC programmes. This applies regardless of the device or method used, including terrestrial, satellite, cable, or internet streaming. The requirement is mandated by law under the Communications Act 2003 and related regulations, and it applies to any device capable of receiving TV broadcasts live or simultaneously.

You do not need a TV licence to watch on-demand or catch-up services from other providers like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or All 4. The licence typically costs £174.50 per year for colour TV and £58.50 for black and white sets. A single licence covers all live TV watching in one household at a given address, but if multiple tenants with separate tenancy agreements live in one property, each may need their own licence. Failure to have a required TV licence can lead to a fine of up to £1,000.

You also do not have to allow any Crapita employee into your premises. I would advise anyone to just tell them to go away.

Thank you, great explanation.

For financial gain. He likes money.

Yep. I doubt his thoughts are as deep as he is being credited with, it’s just another potential cash cow.

Yes, the BBC were in the wrong and have apologised so that should be an end to it.

You don’t think Trump is a bully?

AGAA4 Sat 15-Nov-25 18:42:16

Trump is going to sue for up to 5 million dollars for having his feelings hurt as no other damage was done.
Sounds like bullying to me.

ronib Sat 15-Nov-25 18:51:36

Million - no
Billion

Mollygo Sat 15-Nov-25 18:59:05

DT’s next step might be threats about tariffs if Starmer doesn’t grovel satisfactorily.

Of course. Thanks. Even worse though!
