And so they should! Had any other TV channel done this they would have been closed down. The truth will out.

The BBC have got away with so much over the years and have always been biased and many would say, corrupt. Martin Bashir, Jimmy Savile, Huw Edwards etc

DT’s next step might be threats about tariffs if Starmer doesn’t grovel satisfactorily.

I covered that upthread. An obvious move.

We should never give in to threats of that kind, just think for a moment - Trump never made the trade deal without it being in the USA's interests

How vulnerable that would make us on the International Stage: whose interests would that be in?

(not to mention a laughing stock, and Starmer would be pilloried by the right, perversely)

Trump could then take other countries' reporting on him to pieces, and undoubtedly find similar in those other countries.

Well only if they edit/splice it incorrectly.

About time to sell the Beeb to one of Trump's rather rich cronies? Then we can enjoy wall-to-wall ads and lots of 'lovely' reality shows such as the highly intellectual "Love Island".

Willow3, I heard it early in the morning of November 14, with explicit mention of the birthday. Didn't realize it used to be broadcast daily. Interesting research.

They used his OWN words.

With Marjorie Taylor Greene turning away from him he might have other things to worry about. Someone else to bully.

On the R4 news today (opps, the BBC, oh dear)

A US lawyer saying that since the Panorama episode was not only not seen in the USA but was not licensed to be seen Trump is unlikely legally to have a leg to stand on with nay proceedings in the USA.

ronib Sun 16-Nov-25 07:23:09

Richard North’s blog on Turbulent Times is worth reading.
Trump may not have a legal case for a number of reasons and compensation won’t be paid. But Trump does hold the moral high ground over Starmer. Trump could say that he feels very let down by the actions of a supposed number one ally and that he will review the special relationship, trade deals etc. Ultimately the UK may lose much more than the £5 billion being touted.
The BBC is going ahead with the Reith lecture given by an anti Trump advocate and so life trundles on.

“The BBC is going ahead with the Reith lecture given by an anti Trump advocate and so life trundles on”

This is exactly how the BBC can have a biased agenda, in this case broadcasting anti Trump features and exactly what is likely to make Trump dig his heels in.

This is going to be quite a fight.

And this has finally split along party lines. All the right wingers are behind Trump. Who are the true patriots?

Elegran Sun 16-Nov-25 09:54:50

There must be ample grounds for someone to countersue a US media company for false statements about the UK?

Galaxy Sun 16-Nov-25 09:59:23

Well yes if they have edited a piece to put forward a particular viewpoint. Go for it.

Maremia Sun 16-Nov-25 10:04:10

Could be mega distraction. Keeps everyone from talking about the EPSTEIN Files.

Well JDVance for a start. What nonsense he has waffled about the U.K. I bet it was reported as fact in the USA

It seems Trump thinks the BBC is the voice of the UK, Starmer getting involved only reinforces that, we all know the BBC is independant and sets its own agenda, Trump does not believe that.

I’m wondering just what Trump really wants.

Lots in Sundays on Epstein. Epstein seemed to be of the opinion that Trump was border-line insane!

The trouble is that we have got so normalised by Trumps behaviour that I think that we have overlooked just how outside the normal his behaviour really is and what nonsense he spouts.

ronib Sun 16-Nov-25 11:03:57

On the insanity stakes, Epstein wins outright.

Galaxy Sun 16-Nov-25 11:28:45

I don't think epstein was insane, he was a predator who carefully planned and organised abuse.

David49 Sun 16-Nov-25 11:36:05

Not insane but very manipulative, he knows exactly what he’s doing, and why he’s doing it, enemies have given him a lot of grief, now he is giving it back.

IOMGran Sun 16-Nov-25 11:46:19

Cheered on by our very own right wingers, who cover themselves in the flag at every opportunity. They should be open and show the stars and stripes.

AGAA4 Sun 16-Nov-25 12:15:32

Trump has successfully gagged any news in the US that is detrimental to him. He wants to do the same here and some people are cheering him on. They don't seem to realise that the Trump regime wants to manipulate the news here to our detrimental.
Think what rubbish Vance and Musk have said about the UK.

Our detriment*

Unfortunately the BBC has played right into his hands.

They have admitted that his speech was edited 🤷‍♀️

IOMGran Sun 16-Nov-25 12:39:30

Gravy, everything is edited as things have to fit into a time slot. It's pretty foolish to expect everything to be broadcast in it's entirety. You can freely access Trumps speech in full if you want. Here's a transcript for you. He's unhinged and inciting a riot.

And to those demanding Trump be given massive damages by the BBC, where the F do you think that money will come from???
