BBC expected to apologise for doctoring Trump videos

And so they should! Had any other TV channel done this they would have been closed down. The truth will out.

The BBC have got away with so much over the years and have always been biased and many would say, corrupt. Martin Bashir, Jimmy Savile, Huw Edwards etc

True. Only 86% of the license fee goes to the BBC.

At 01.59

Boz Mon 10-Nov-25 09:26:15

I simply can't imagine how difficult the job is, fighting institutionalized bias at all levels in a huge corporation. I do have some sympathy for him.

And exactly who is the unfortunate editor or team of editors involved in the splicing of the Trump film? Were they freelance? On whose authority, if any was the alteration agreed? How often does this happen one wonders?

I would like to know all this too.

And especially the bit about how often this happens.

Surely editing is entirely different to spling and doctoring?

Maremia Mon 10-Nov-25 09:30:05

Editing is probably the overall process.
Splicing is done by a technician, at the behest probs of the Editor or Director

Boz Mon 10-Nov-25 09:30:07

Can the woke incompetent board also now resign?

Maremia Mon 10-Nov-25 09:31:34

What is a 'woke'?

Casdon Mon 10-Nov-25 09:35:16

Maremia

What is a 'woke'?

It’s people who have views that Boz doesn't approve of, I would guess?

ronib Mon 10-Nov-25 09:38:45

Pro Hamas, anti Israel, single sex marriage, anti Trump, anti wealth, pro climate change, pro abortion, anti Christianity…. Children changing gender identity… is this woke?

Oreo Mon 10-Nov-25 09:46:28

Woke has gone way past what it meant originally and has expanded to accept all kinds of craziness.Schools aiding and abetting any furries in their midst for one.😬

I note that the Telegraph editor is triumphantly tooting that Trump has thanked them for attacking the BBC.

Surprise, surprise!!!

And thanks for your excellent post above WW (8.39) - astute, thoughtful and measured, unlike some of the ‘oo, shock, horror’ hyperbole posts currently swirling around.

This is a shame really as I grew up thinking you could trust BBC news.
Clearly not.
And people moan about GB news.

GB News has been voted best news channel for the 4th consecutive month beating BBC, Sky etc.

I have been flicking through all the channels this morning and the BBC is the main topic. It seems that the majority of people on all channels are very disappointed in the BBC and all the coverups that have taken place. The lists just go on and on as people remember past failures of the BBC. Even Jeremy Vine, who has made millions out of the BBC, is agreeing with callers.

Don’t know why I’m bothering actually as you will just pick holes in it.

Tim Davie’s salary as DG at the BBC was £540,000 p.a.
Crikey.
No wonder he hung on.
Mind you he’ll be given a golden handshake, doubtless. A fancy package of some sort.
Out of our licence money?

The right wing bias of the BBC has damaged our politics. It's relentless promotion of Farage and his "party" is disgraceful. In the years running up to 2016 Farage appeared on Question Time 29 times.

Just compare the amount of BBC coverage give to Farage and his 4 MPs with the time they give to Sir Ed Davey who has 72 LibDem MPs.

nanna8 Mon 10-Nov-25 10:37:10

What a shame. I used to love the BBC, it was something reliable and trustworthy. Things have obviously changed for the worse - splicing a video like that would have been unheard of not so long ago.

Maremia Mon 10-Nov-25 10:49:29

Just looked up 'woke' for myself and it means
'to recognise systemic inequalities and advocate for change'.
Are you against that?

Maremia Mon 10-Nov-25 10:50:32

Gosh, varian, maybe with a new boss we will see less of Farage.
Result.

Allira Mon 10-Nov-25 10:52:13

Very true varian
Something which has always puzzled me.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 10-Nov-25 10:53:44

For those wanting to get rid of the BBC, to whom would you like to see it sold?

Who could afford it?

Musk?

I’ve looked at that before now Maremia
But nowadays, woke is often used
either as an insult towards anyone who says something you don’t like
or
As a claim that you know more/better, than anyone who says something you disagree with.
Oreo’s description also fits a current use of woke!

I've looked at the BARB site and can't find anything about voting for a news channel. But there's so much information I might have missed it.

I do note that their last figure for the 50 most viewed shows, which only gives figure for 15 shows, doesn't include anything from GB News.

If it is correct that GB News has been voted the best news channel that is what it it is, but it says nothing about the integrity of what the channel presents.

In view of the OFCom judgements detailed by LizzieDrip on the other thread (Sun 9th Nov, 21.52) it appears that GB News isn't exactly a beacon of accuracy and impartiality. This clearly doesn't bother its viewers. A number of which are here screaming blue murder about the BBC hmm

Well, Sky America want to buy ITV. Perhaps Fox News could have the BBC?
