There are newly released e-mails, which implicate the big beast. Time to watch and wait I think.

I can’t begin to understand those who support Trump. I wish I could.

I think they scrubbed the files.

Nothing can happen until Senate is back in session. Which is Wednesday.

I understand, from an item on facebook, posted by a British acquaintance who emigrated to the US many years ago, (so take care over this) that Epstein’s brother is claiming that the files have been ‘bleached’ to eradicate anything incriminating Trump and high profile Republicans.

I think a good many people are prepared to believe this as Trump has captured the FBI.

I do wonder about the level of inappropriate behaviour Trump shows. It could be a symptom of one of several mental health conditions.

DaisyAnneReturns Wed 19-Nov-25 09:05:57

They have certainly had time to do it Maizie.

It puzzles me, too, because to me it seems that admirers of Trump have completely lost any moral compass they might have had. They might be perfectly nice people in their day to day lives, live by the law themselves and usually deplore people who break the law, but deep down they clearly hugely admire a lawbreaking maverick.

Is it because they aren't wholly on board with the 'rules' that keep a vast body of people (society) reasonably safe and comfortable in their everyday lives, Is it because there are 'rules' that they don't agree with and would like to change so they admire anyone who cuts through them? Likewise, if it is agreed that a 'rule should be altered or abolished is the pace of change too slow for them?

Not being a psychologist there is no way really I can account for this phenomenon.

It is true the brother is saying that. I wouldn't put it past him.

Most don’t especially support Trump most voted Republican because they hated the ultra liberal Democrat agenda, immigration policy and diversity in particular. They would still vote for him on those policies today, probably the biggest losers from the tariff policy has been farmers, regardless most are natural Republicans, unlikely to vote Democrat.

Not sure about that, as he’s always done it.

Senate has "deemed as passed" the bill to release the Epstein files. That means that once the files hits the Senate floor, it will be deemed as passed (unanimous vote) without needing a physical vote. It immediately goes to Trump to sign.

I don't anticipate more this evening, but I will post if there is.

I very much doubt anyone will see the real Epstein files, they have had them for ages and having seen their previous behaviour I have no hopes of any honourable behaviour.

There are people on here that do too.

Saw a video interview on Facebook, yes, I know. The reporter was asking all the usual 'whys'.The young man being interviewed included in his reasons, 'Yes, we are racist. He is racist. That's why."
So, for some people, like that young man, they support Trump because he allows them to be racist.

Yes and there is no question that people have felt emboldened by Trump, Farage etc, to voice opinions that in the past would have been considered pretty shocking and certainly racist.

I have certainly seen a change in GN over the past 14 years. It is sad to see.

winterwhite Wed 19-Nov-25 16:45:23

Well of course the files have been doctored in some way to vindicate Trump - or have been or will be. Surely that goes without saying.

Does the West have nothing more important to discuss than Epstein? That's what depresses me.

MayBee70 Wed 19-Nov-25 16:53:07

Whatever is in those files I’ve seen and heard enough about Trump to know what his attitude is towards women. Which is still ongoing by the way he speaks to women reporters.

imaround Wed 19-Nov-25 17:15:43

Johnson was asked questions as he headed into the meeting with the Saudis, which could be its own thread, and he stated that neither he nor Trump are happy with the bill being passed without amendments in the Senate.

What could happen is Trump pocket vetos it. That means he sits on it for 10 days without signing it. Then it never becomes a law and it can't be overridden in Congress because it wasn't vetoed. They move on with their lives and we never get answers.

Casdon Wed 19-Nov-25 17:24:27

Surely his credibility would be blown if he did that at this stage imaround, his party and the electorate would all be convinced he was hiding something big?

Neither Trump, nor Johnson, have credibility any longer. They don't care because, so far, there have been no repercussions.

I will be surprised if Trump signs this bill. I hope I am wrong.

I think you are right neither man has been held accountable for anything. And normally intelligent and rational people just turn a blind eye to their transgressions as if what applies to the rest of us mere mortals doesn’t affect them.
I cannot figure it out and have stopped trying, certainly other leaders and politicians would be judged harshly and resignations demanded if it were thought a leader was sitting on important documents that outlined his association with a sex offender.
Am wondering just what would shake Trump’s followers belief in him.

I agree with Whitewave. I fear Trump has had a malign influence on people in the UK. Misogyny, racism, rude boorish comments and behaviour is increasing.

Those people who claim “we aren’t allowed to speak” are Shouting.

Keep shouting back. And realize that they don't play by normal rules of engagement.

I just wanted to drop this by. grin

We are trying to do so.

The trouble is that two of our members have shouted back - and got banned.

So it isn’t that easy.
