Never here Keir?

No longer “two tier Keir” is our PM now “never here Keir” ?
According to today’s Times, some Labour ministers have urged Starmer, who has been nicknamed by some colleagues “never here Keir”, to delegate more to David Lammy and Yvette Cooper, the deputy prime minister and the foreign secretary.
By the end of the month, Starmer will have spent a sixth of his premiership on foreign trips and completed six laps of the earth. Ministers have called for him to “get off the plane” and focus on the UK.
The prime minister has travelled more and further than any other British leader in official history, including almost double the distance that Sir Tony Blair covered in the same period in office .
Starmer has visited 44 countries on 37 trips out of the country to attend conferences, bilateral meetings and sports fixtures. During his first 17 months in office, Starmer has spent two and a half months abroad.
There’s enough going wrong in this country surely to warrant keeping a closer eye on things, a firmer hand on the proverbial tiller?

He’s weak. So much for a huge majority if his back benchers don’t back him.

He’s always off abroad isn’t he? Probably relieved as he fastens his seat belt on boarding …

Who would you prefer? Mr Farage?

From what I’ve heard Keir totally ripped into Farage at PMQT but things like that never get any publicity. I don’t think many PM’s have had so many international problems to deal with at any one time, exacerbated by another problem being that the leader of the western world is Trump.

He’ll be shed a tear Keir soon if things carry on as they are now.
How can Labour be falling apart at the seams so quickly?!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 14-Nov-25 20:13:40

I am not a Labour supporter.

I did hope for better things from Sir Starmer and his front bench. Sadly I am disappointed,

Wes Streeting is not only on top of his brief, but on top of others as well.

Yes.

I have a bit of a soft spot for streeting but I supported Starmer so my judgement may be questionable.

sundowngirl Fri 14-Nov-25 19:23:36

I’m not a labour voter and I despair at what they are doing to this country, but Wes Streeting was on LBC with Nick Ferrari this morning and he was a breath of fresh air.
He answered every question from the calls without prevaricating and agreed with many callers about the problems within the country at the moment. He is much more of a man of the people and a better speaker than Keir Starmer could ever hope to be. During and following the show, LBC was inundated with texts and emails all voicing how impressive Wes Streeting had been
Starmer shoukd be very worried

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Nov-25 19:05:02

Streeting?

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:59:23

If he goes, who will replace him? Lammy? Cooper?

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:58:02

"Two Tier Keir" and "Never Here Keir" are tame when you think of what is chanted when he goes anywhere.......

henetha Fri 14-Nov-25 18:57:47

Let's be careful. There's no-one fit to replace him.

He is used to the strictly regulated world of the law. He does not have any idea of how to deal with ordinary people. He was touted as ‘a safe pair of hands’ and we were told ‘the grown ups are now back in charge’.

Gawd help us. Four more years of this give or take.

Lathyrus3 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:22:18

Still, peace and love and all that🙄

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:21:40

The sharks are circling but nobody wants it till after May next year … which is why (for now) they all seem ‘so loyal’.

Lathyrus3 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:21:24

Gosh four posts in and a personal attack.

It usually takes a bit longer than that. 😬

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:20:08

I think they need more than that Iam.

Galaxy Fri 14-Nov-25 18:20:01

To be fair labour aren't as funny as Your Party comms at the moment, they could have their own sitcom.

Iam64 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:18:38

Wyllow, when interviewed Starmer is good, the government is doing some excellent work but they’re only telling party members. They need effective comms

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:18:22

Wyllow various media outlets have dubbed him ‘never here Keir’ for months now! Surely you’d heard it too during the summer?

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:16:45

He's weak, not up to the job of being PM. He has the audacity to lecture us all about climate change whilst jetting of all over the world. He ought to be dealing with the problems here. Never voted Labour, never would.

Galaxy Fri 14-Nov-25 18:16:37

When the Tories particularly Johnson were in power we had one of these threads every single day. It is the price of power

Iam64 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:16:29

There’s a lot of work needed internationally and he’s good at that. I’m being worn down by the dreadful comms, awful communication between him and the back benchers. This weeks briefing against Wes Streeting was ridiculous, embarrassing, pathetic. Does Morgan McSweeny want a rebellion, a leadership battle

Wyllow3 Fri 14-Nov-25 18:15:01

This is so short sighted. Even critics admit has got the UK good deals by doing this, and have you really really forgotten matters around the Ukraine coming to a head?

Just another lets knock Starmer thread.

Would another leader of any other political persuasion have spent less *How, exactly"

As for Reform, look at his travels abroad!

And you can't even be original RosieandherMaw. You nicked the O/P from GB news, didnt you? took a one click google

Cant you find your own headline?

I voted for Starmer in the leadership campaign. I liked Lisa Nandy but thought she lacked experience and gravitas. I’d no time for the third candidate, the Corbineester Rebecca Long Bailey. Starmer presented well on the Hustings. He was a good lawyer, good work at the CPS

I’m despairing at what seems like a lack of leadership from Starmer in the LP. He’s good on the world stage, invisible at home
