Never here Keir?

No longer “two tier Keir” is our PM now “never here Keir” ?
According to today’s Times, some Labour ministers have urged Starmer, who has been nicknamed by some colleagues “never here Keir”, to delegate more to David Lammy and Yvette Cooper, the deputy prime minister and the foreign secretary.
By the end of the month, Starmer will have spent a sixth of his premiership on foreign trips and completed six laps of the earth. Ministers have called for him to “get off the plane” and focus on the UK.
The prime minister has travelled more and further than any other British leader in official history, including almost double the distance that Sir Tony Blair covered in the same period in office .
Starmer has visited 44 countries on 37 trips out of the country to attend conferences, bilateral meetings and sports fixtures. During his first 17 months in office, Starmer has spent two and a half months abroad.
There’s enough going wrong in this country surely to warrant keeping a closer eye on things, a firmer hand on the proverbial tiller?

I have changed my mind on him since finding out who his backers are.

He should be in the Conservatives.

I have googled Wes Streeting’s backers/donaters.

Makes interesting reading especially as he is Health Secretary…

It makes very frightening reading and there is no way on this earth that Streeting, or any of the Labour MPs in receipt of big corporate donations should be anywhere near the LP leadership.

Telegraph, LBC, DM, GB News, Express etc. Wyllow3 probably more but am on way out.

Oh, all the usual suspects. Colour me surprised 🙄

I was wondering when Rayner was going to get a mention….

Need I add - by a respected White male professional 😠

How about finding a brick wall and firmly banging your head against it several times Wyllow

I think you will have some limited success.

Yup 🙄

and thank you Maisie for the correction. I'm currently not at the top of my game due to personal reasons (I was sexually assulted 5 weeks ago and the fall out is still troubling me a great deal although the police have been great)

Lucy Powell isn’t deputy PM, Wyllow. David Lammy is.

Powell is deputy leader of the Labour party.

Wyllow3 Sun 16-Nov-25 09:18:14

Well that is frankly a load of B*******ks.

Didnt take long to google

"The claim that she is currently offering jobs for support stems from a single newspaper report
which has been officially denied by her team"

"Ms. Rayner has also publicly condemned such speculation as "arrogant tittle tattle" that is detached from the real issues facing people"

As a person in the LP I can assure you never been discussed or dreamed of: we now have Lucy Powell as Deputy Prime Minister and no one I am aware of whatsoever has even imagined a Raynor return.

So come clean - ^what is your source, Primrose^ It seems fair enough to ask

Primrose53 Sun 16-Nov-25 09:04:53

Fantastic! Angela Rayner is promising Labour MPs top jobs if she becomes PM.

It’s laughable that she should even be thinking about it after the trouble she caused.

Getting my popcorn ready. 🍿🍿🍿

I'd still like to see Andy Burnham as leader, as I am left of Starmer and pro the "Mainstream" movement within the Labour Party.

Great riposte!!

Agree, great riposte and it was deserved, unpleasant post from Wyllow.

Easy to see the mote in another eyes, and not ones own!

I'm not Primrose so can't speak for her, but I'd like to see Wes Streeting take the helm if Starmer were to step down. Maurice Glassman (Lord Glassman) if you don't like Blue Labour you won't like him, I do. I think he talks a lot of sense, he fully endorses Shamima Mahmood in her role as Home Secretary, we need to give her time, she's fairly new in the job.

Wyllow3 Sat 15-Nov-25 20:22:38

Who would you like to see as leader of the Labour Party and our PM, Primrose?

Primrose53 Sat 15-Nov-25 20:10:42

Norwich Labour MP Clive Lewis has called for Starmer to step down. Never agreed with CL before!

The news media didn’t bury it, it was reported in various places the other day including the FT.

Was it plastered across front pages?

But it failed didn’t it, so your point is?
For those cosily pretending that the BBC’s failure is just a right wing plot, and actually it’s all wonderful take a step backwards and avoid the pit of conspiracy theories so loved on forums.

The point is that the news media is burying stuff like this by constantly harping on about other things.

And the BBC have never buried anything have they 😉😉

I can't claim the credit, it was RosieandherMaw but yes, it was, wasn't it.

It always amuses me that posters get hot under the collar and clutch their pearls over articles they have read in the Daily Mail, which they profess to despise. Most of us wouldn't know about these articles until they are pointed out to us by the posters who hate the DM!
😁

The thing with the Telegraph has been going on for a least two years I think.

MaizieD Sat 15-Nov-25 09:26:30

Don’t people find the thought of a British newspaper being in foreign ownership a bit disturbing given the influence newspapers still can exert (despite assertions that no one reads them any more). on the British public?
