I’ll be really interested in how this will be applied. I can’t think of a way 🤔

There was a feature on the news this evening, garages will monitor mileage when they do MOTs, people can pay in advance annually by estimating how much mileage they will do, at the end of the year they will get a refund or pay extra depending on the accuracy of their estimate. For vehicles that don’t need an MOT because they are other three years old they can have their mileage checked at a garage free of charge. There was also mention of paying monthly by direct debit.

It’s not the decision, it’s the practicalities that are exercising my thoughts.

I just can’t see how

Well, the government is losing a lot of money from fuel tax so it has to be made up from somewhere.

3p per mile🤣🤣🤣 Thats just for starters.
How is it going to be monitored?
RR didn’t seem to be aware that new cars don't need an MOT for 3 years.
Is she really going to trust owners to put in the correct mileage?
Or will a new government body be set up to monitor people’s use of credit cards at chargers?
Or will fuel providers be obliged to give details of those people who have signed up for a home charging deal?
Or will people suddenly be rushing to pay for their charging in cash?
