He "wants to make a life for himself after he is released" !!!

That should prove "interesting" - given some people have long memories and I'm not the only one who - once they are quite sure and certain someone is a criminal - will have "binned them and told everyone nearby" within the week.

Joshua Radcliffe, defending Niazal said:
Niazal was still seeking asylum and intended “to make a life in this country after he has been released”.

The court was told Niazal pleaded guilty a day before his 17th birthday – the cut-off point for automatic deportation of foreign criminals sentenced to more than a year in custody.

Robert Holt, for Jahanzeb, said the teenager had spent nine months travelling from Afghanistan to the UK, eventually arriving in British waters on a small boat.

Israr Niazal...on the news it says that he spent 9 months travelling to uk, eventually arriving in british waters in a small boat, he wants to make a life for himself in this country after he is released. He pleaded guilty 1 day before his 17th birthday, it seems that was the cut off point for automatic deportation.
Surely this government has to start looking after the British people instead of bending backwards to accomodate migrants.

Can someone show me where we discovered Israr Niazal (aged 16) came on a small boat? We know ^when he arrived but I don't think anything has been said about ^how he came here.

I am aware Jan Jahanzeb was 17 and did come on a small boat. He will be deported as he was 17 I believe.

!!! to "The receiving country has to agree to the deportation" !!!!

Seriously? Their own country having to agree to have them back = wow! just wow!

I guess the answer to that is "We have to agree to keep them - after they've served their sentence - and we don't". So unless they want to be stateless (which I reckon we'd have no problem with that happening to them.....)......

The receiving country has to agree to the deportation.

I totally agree with all here, but it's a mistake to think "oh, it's the governments fault". It's not the first case and wont be the last.

definitely, should be deported,

Allira Mon 08-Dec-25 19:55:40

They should serve half their sentence then be escorted back to their home country.

Smileless2012 Mon 08-Dec-25 19:48:52

I agree Cossy, why should we pay to keep them in our prisons.

Cossy Mon 08-Dec-25 19:43:36

Personally I think they should have been deported as soon as they were found guilty, and I’m normally a fairly vocal supporter of asylum seekers.

They should both be deported once the sentence has been served.

They had only been in this country a few months prior to raping this poor child.

One of them may not get deported after his sentence.
