Interesting reading the guardian this morning, re Bardot

Allsorts

Feel sorry for the son she didn't want. She was attractive to look at whilst young but her views were extreme to put it kindly.

We can't help how we feel but as adults we can keep our mouths shut rather than saying something hurtful. How awful to know your own mother has called you a cancerous tumour. Vile woman.

Isummer, I remember that tragedy at Baginton but didn’t know that Bardot came to the funeral at Coventry Cathedral.

Yes, I remember it caused quite a stir, I think I remember being told she arrived in a Rolls Royce at the cathedral.

A beautiful woman, inside and out RIP flowers.

Have you x-rayed her?

WithNobsOnIt Mon 29-Dec-25 19:02:30

And God Created Woman in Brigitte Bardot.

A Love Goddess Incarnate.

She certainly had that je ne sais quoi.

Au Revoir Brigitte

Xxx

MartavTaurus Mon 29-Dec-25 18:07:21

😂
Brigitte's fourth husband, who survives her, is a former adviser to the late far-right politician Jean-Marie Le Pen. But that's as far as any relationship with Le Pen went!

TeddyDog

She was also married to the far right father of Marine le Pen, pretty grim!

She had many faults TeddyDog, but she was not married to Jean-Marie le Pen. 😂

I didn’t know that she was trained as a classical ballet dancer before she was “discovered.”

A lady I worked with was an animal rights activist. In the 90s she protested at a local airport about importing calves on planes. A lady called Jill Phipps who was also protesting was killed under the wheels of a lorry containing calves.
Her funeral at our city cathedral was attended by Brigitte Bardot and my colleague met her. I understand my colleague remained in contact with her for many years and she supported local activists who protested on fox hunting and animal testing. She often spoke of her friend Brigitte!
Since I retired not sure if colleague remained in contact up until her death.

Lived a good life? She was arrested at least four times for inciting racial hatred and was famously homophobic!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Dec-25 12:11:27

All human beings have flaws.

France was rapidly changing when BB made her remarks, doesn’t excuse her, I haven’t heard about her attitude towards her son, so will not comment.

Grantanow Mon 29-Dec-25 11:47:58

RIP a great actor. Some of her public comments were appalling, far right and racist.

Am afraid being ‘good’ at something doesn’t equate with being a particularly good person. Artists, writers, musicians, actors etc., are put on a pedestal by their fans but this doesn’t mean they should be adored and idolised, that is down to us.

There is also the association with looks and character. Bad people are ugly and good people are attractive. Very dangerous in my opinion.

My goodness the more I m learning about her the more I m disliking her Apart from the animals she seems to stand for everything I abhor
So I ll not be mourning her Her poor son what an awful thing to say, my goodness that’s evil

Iam64 Mon 29-Dec-25 08:41:58

She was a stunning looker. Not a role model for me, even as a teenager I wasn’t impressed by her beliefs or lifestyle.

Later she did some good work on animal rights. Her racism, homophobia and treatment of her son tell the story about who this woman was.

Grammaretto Sun 28-Dec-25 19:18:47

1956 with Picasso

Grammaretto Sun 28-Dec-25 19:16:00

She was very pretty. I used to draw her profile over and over in my doodle book.
I suspect she was forced to be a sex bomb from an early age.
Picasso painted her, she married Roger Vadim.

I thought she had retired to spend her life saving animals a long time ago.

RIP

Visgir1 Sun 28-Dec-25 16:38:11

I didn't know much about her, but just read her Obituary in The Sunday Times on line..
She was without doubt a Beautiful younger woman.
From age 40 she was champion of Animals but she was a racist, homophobic an awful Mother to a Son she wanted aborted.

theworriedwell Sun 28-Dec-25 15:22:33

Chardy

Unfortunately Bardot was convicted in 1997, 1998 and 2000 for inciting racial hatred. She was criticised in later years for homophobic slurs.
But she was a world leader in championing animal protection.
She liked animals more than humans?

Also 2008. Her son also took her to court about what she'd written about him in her autobiography.

A beautiful woman, inside and out RIP flowers.

Didn't bring her own child up, likened him to a tumour and said she'd have preferred him to be a dog. She was beautiful outside, not so much inside.

Esmay Sun 28-Dec-25 14:13:39

I think that Bardot started the long bed hair and the pouty sexy look before anyone else. .
I admired her devotion to animals ,but what a shame that her attitude to her only child was so cruel.
