If Mr Trump were demented or otherwise unfit for office I think his entire cabinet would have to vote unanimoously to remove him. An unlikely event perhaps. But I'm not very familiar with the US Constitution so maybe I'm not right.

“The 25th Amendment provides mechanisms to remove a president, primarily through Section 4, allowing the Vice President and Cabinet to declare a president unable to serve, or Section 1, where the VP immediately assumes the presidency if the president dies, resigns, or is removed via impeachment, which is part of the original Constitution (Article II, Section 4) and requires House impeachment and Senate conviction.”

Vance would initiate this if he was sure of success, he is ruthless enough and has been a critic of Trump in the past.

Putin has something on Trump I suspect, I think Trump is scared of him.

Trump is trying to pull more power to the Presidency.

IMO Trump actually admires Putin and wishes he had the same absolute power, inc. that of being able to have anyone who dares to question his actions, assassinated.

At which point in the progression of the illness does a diagnosis of dementia become 'official' and 'legal'?
Who will have the guts to make that call?

Putin is unbalanced for sure, but the rumours about Trumps general health and overall grasp on logical thought are becoming an avalanche.

Horrid pair!

I think Trump and Putin have a lot in common personality wise.

This news outlet is very ordinary but I think this article is worth reading about Putin and his thinking...

It means he can say "I will only talk peace via trump"

Just an excuse to stall again.

I have seen NO photos of this supposed attack on one of Putin’s homes, I wonder why 😉. Russia has bombed thousands of Ukrainians’ homes.

Trump is a mad man a believes everything Putin tells him.

I despair.

Putin is a liar, and should not be trusted.

Oreo Mon 29-Dec-25 21:38:46

He wouldn’t.
It’s yet more of Putin’s game playing and stretching out any negotiations probably for the next year until he gets even more land and Trump washes his hands of the whole thing.
It was very predictable sadly.

What an amazing coincidence that the small concessions grudgingly given by Russia to the Ukraine will have to be reconsidered now that one of Putin's homes has allegedly been attacked by the Ukraine. Just hours after a successful meeting between Trump and Zelensky, with both sounding upbeat about some progress, Putin pulls the rug out from under them with this unsubstantiated claim. Zelensky has vehemently denied any involvement and why would he scupper the chance of a ceasefire?
