Birmingham Bin Strike Still On-going

The Council is a disgrace. Apart from the bin strikes you try and get any help for anything, zilch. The only thing that is effective is the collection of the Council Tax. Building plans approved then ignored by the people concerned and the effects on areas and neighbours..I feel sorry for your brother and others like him, who try to keep areas clean. It must be soul destroying. Pest controllers should definitely be paid for by the council how are people on low incomes to find the money continuously. Why are the council allowing people who refuse to work to keep holding the whole city to ransom. Surely there is a standard pay system for refuse collectors in the UK and rules they must all work by or does Birmingham Council flout or make their own rules up. I do not know does anyone?. It is either legal or it is not. Keir does what he does best, pretends it's not happening. .What about the danger to public health for those citizens..Fly tipping is rife, why are people allowed to get away with it? If they spent more time collecting fines for people breaking the law. Dog fouling an example, have you ever heard anyone being fined, yet lots of areas have a problem with owners putting it in little bags and hanging it on hedges or throwing it on gardens, filthy people. Thats a public health concern. Has your brother contacted local councillors?, I think I would be temped to go to the National Press.
Do hope for people like your brother and thousands more, something is done and quickly. Daresay the council house rubbish is collected.

Maybe if people refused to pay their rates en masse they might ‘solve’ the issue? It would take some organisation but could be possible.

Get the BBC to make a 'Post Office Scandal' type drama to make people sit up and take notice. I don't have anyone living in the Birmingham area so I assumed it had all been sorted. It's a disgraceful state of affairs. I saw Keir Starmer on the news last night saying he would talk to Trump over Venezuela but that's the first time I have seen him in ages. No wonder many of his own party want him out.

Two excellent suggestions there CabbAgeWars, I would ensure the Fire Brigade and Police parts are paid, because they must be as frustrated as everyone else and are doing their job but where is the rest of their council tax going? Contact the Daily Mail as well.

Maybe not when there are piles of rubbish outside your house and rats are running riot. This strike is a disgrace as both the city council and Unite seem not to want to end it soon.

The residents have put up with this for too long now.

I have said this before on another thread, the media are reporting from the parts of Birmingham that suffer with fly tipping and rubbish being strewn around anyway. A lot of the people in those areas just don't care, but there are some who really try and take pride in their area. In my area, which is south of the city, there aren't the piles of rubbish amassed and of course, we all have the option to take excess rubbish to our local tip. The council also send round the large collection lorries every few weeks, so people have an opportunity to get rid of their rubbish carefully. And I do understand that this is not ideal, the bin strike needs resolving, and the council for whatever reason, are not taking action as speedily as they should.
