Agree with that Fallingstar, but at the same time, I suspect he is not actually the one calling the shots.

Scary stuff, Trump is going rogue and has the might of a super power behind him.
Are we to understand, in this case, that in the US there are no means to rein the president in when acts of aggression that could destabilise whole regions are committed seemingly without any prior warning to allies?
Or are all agencies in the US in favour of such adventuring or too scared to stand up to Trump?
Let’s hope there is a bit more in the way of reining him in if he ever gets near that nuclear button.

Could it be the same game play/tactic he uses when he threatens to sue? Some are immediately intimidated and pay up/comply.
Who recently, has he sued and won the case?
Bluff? Hope so.

So far he has warned five other countries of his intentions if they do not comply with his wishes, since the actions in Venezuela, which he claims the USA is now in charge of. He cannot take them all on, the US just does not have the military might. Not to mention which of the countries would have significant backing to resist US actions.

Trump isn’t hiding, lying, or being coy about attacking and taking over countries for their resources. I now fully expect a Greenland operation if he remains president. Most of US congress is too cowardly to challenge him, and the rest openly support him. We are entering a new age of savage, modern colonialism.

That should have 'Invading' before Greenland but for some reason didn't appear.

flump Mon 05-Jan-26 14:22:00

Just watched this - Greenland? Mistake of a Lifetime by MilitaryRated. It's interesting.

Oreo Mon 05-Jan-26 12:29:17

It will only be achieved with diplomacy ( Greenland) and in the end Denmark may well give in to what the US want, they already have a big military presence there.

Casdon Mon 05-Jan-26 12:20:53

I’d be very worried if I were serving in the US militia, because he’s sounding off in all directions, and they cannot fight multiple ‘enemies’ at the same time as he appears to expect. The might of any one country is less than the combined might of others, and he would do very well not to upset China and Russia any more than he has done already.

petra

Ive just looked on my shipping location app.
Nothing showing.
That could be that tgey have all turned off their transponders or, Trump is talking out of his arse.

Has he just noticed that Russia has warships and submarines? Or did someone alert him to the fact?

That's what ships do, sail the seven seas. His and ours do the same.

Sarnia Mon 05-Jan-26 10:04:17

He's going ga-ga which makes him a dangerous man.

Maremia

Does Trump have enough 'manpower' to carry out all of these invasions?

In 2 words, unfortunately, yes.

Yes, I think it's possible. It also would explain Trump's reluctance to deal effectively with Russia 's invasion of Ukraine, wouldn't it? It's become a very scary world. I wouldn't be at all surprised if China takes advantage of what's happening and marches into Taiwan. Bloody Trump is affecting the balance of power very negatively.

Wyllow3 Mon 05-Jan-26 08:34:07

He really is going for his "threaten and disrupt" all over the place now, isnt he?
On the current Trump thread yesterday we looked at the appointment of an envoy and the wife of that envoy tweeting "soon" on a map of Greenland.

It could still be bluster but all need to be on the alert. Last year he used tariffs to play around with world powers, is this year going to be invasion threats?

A hostile takeover wound either mean bombing or US boots on the ground. How else could he "take" Greenland?

When he took office he promised no more US boots on the ground anywhere else, but at the moment he's horrifyingly toddlerish about issuing threats.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Jan-26 08:32:58

The is where NATO will be really tested. If it lets us down than frankly we are as good as doomed, because Putin will be noting every move.

Maremia Mon 05-Jan-26 08:29:37

It is all so worrying. He already has troops in Greenland.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 05-Jan-26 08:24:08

He went on to say that Greenland is surrounded by Russian and Chinese War Ships, and that Greenland and Denmark are not willing to do anything about it.

We (USA) need Greenland for our security

Up till now I have thought it was just bluster could he be on a roll of hostile takeovers?
