Woman shot and killed by ICE officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Yesterday there was a very tragic shooting of a woman leaving the scene of an Immigration raid/incident . The video clips are very disturbing as she is shot and killed by an officer after she was given conflicting information by two officers . One who told her to leave and another who told her to get out of the car.
She was killed by a third officer who was to the side of the car . I can only advise you not to watch the clip if you feel it might be disturbing . I was able to read a good account of it in the NYT and it definitely looks and reads like she was murdered.
She was a white, US citizen not a target of the raid.

I truly feel like the USA is imploding from the inside out and that Trump is creating fires of danger everywhere.

It certainly wasn’t today’s version which is from the government. It wasn’t also the grainy version which has
already been found to have been manipulated.
The agent in the very first version walked away no problem . He was in no way injured.
The good part is that the Minnesota government asked anybody with evidence to hand it to them first so they can then hand it to the FBI. That way there are two eyes on that evidence. Which Trump, Noem and Vance won’t like .
They tried to circumvent the local Minnesota authorities but they are a clever bunch the Minnesotans and they won’t be outfoxed. There will be justice for Renee.

Btw, I see this as as everyone’s fight!

They bundle people into cars on suspicion and often without any care about paperwork. With passports , with green cards. They have harassed American Indians who traditionally don’t often have actual paperwork. There was an actual US citizen who was deported in error that they eventually had to return. They separate children from parents. It’s an utter disgrace. They are kept in inhumane conditions. Deported often to countries that are not even their own countries. Far away from their families. It’s a disgrace.

It is a complete disgrace! I have a friend who is a gay (male) ordained minister. He and his husband are bona fide US born citizens, they’ve been on tenterhooks since Trumps first term and are busy holding vigils and peacefully protesting in the of peace and this poor dead women, calling for the dismantling of ICE.

It isn’t our fight frogoet
If it was then I would be agreeing with you.

But you are here antagonizing since the start of this thread which is greatly disturbing. It’s the country where I was born in. My nephew has been dating someone from Mexico and she comes back and forth to visit with all the right paperwork. She dies her hair blond and doesn’t “ look” blond. What used to be normal is no longer normal and you have to fear what you say and do. What you have on your phone. No freedom to express your opinions. It’s an utter disgrace. I just saw another video clip from the front of the car and it was disturbing. I don’t really want to discuss it as I couldn’t replay it . Her wife was included. I just had the impression she was trying to leave. The presenter was saying it clearly showed that the officer was to the side as she was trying to leave after he went around the car filming inside the car and around it her wife was outside the car and taunting their aggressiveness and telling them here is my license plate and this is where you can find us at our home. It was a set up for sure . That officer knew what he was doing . It was a setup execution( in my opinion ) He is an experienced border control officer and a former war veteran. The wife had a coffee in her hand outside of the truck with distance. It gave me great chills.
The video that the government shown was manipulated in a way to make it look like the officer was hit when in fact he was not.
I was a child during the 70’s and watched the horrors of the Viet Nam war. Saw the University students get mowed down by the National Guard. Peacefully protesting. Putting flowers in their guns.
Here we are again.
That’s why posts are sometimes garbled a bit and shaky.
Yet here you are Oreo, pretending it’s all fake news or commenting it isn’t our fight….hmmmm …looking the other way. We must not. Nobody nowhere must. Trump is truly tiring to create a Dark Empire . He is already designing his very own Arche de Triomphe . Now he wants a walk of heroes along the Potomac …a second floor added to his grandiose plans for the White House. It was so sickening to read all this in the NYT report ….while he ignored January 6 and vilified a brave Mom of 3 who was peacefully observing the agents in her own neighborhood. No different than ANY of the protests in the UK. Now Noem wants to GIVE them a license to kill by giving them immunity ! She said that and then 2 other people have been shot since. This is NOT how a democracy operates .

I will just take up a couple of things with you.
Antagonising? Does this mean you simply don’t like my comments as I am putting my own thoughts into my posts and not trying to agree or disagree with anyone else.Nor am I saying, if you took the time to read my posts properly, that anything about the ICE shooting was fake news.
I am saying that it isn’t a fight for either us as individuals or for the UK government.
It’s a fight or a challenge for those who actually live in the US.
Maybe you are a US citizen, in which case it’s up to you and you have every right to protest about it.
What do you suppose we do about it here in the UK?
Our government can’t and won’t interfere with US domestic policy.

It isn’t like someone deliberately driving a car into a crowd which no one can escape from. And if it’s correct that the officer had been badly injured by being driven into previously then he surely overreacted with tragic consequences.

I’ve watched three videos of this incident and I saw her pointing the car at the ice officer and appearing to accelerate towards him. Just goes to show how we all see things differently, it does seem that those who hate Trump see one thing and his supporters see another.

Actually, even if this did “turn her car pointing at ICE agents” if they were that scared, they had other choices, move out of the way, shoot her tyres, I don’t believe in any shape or style this killing was justified, it doesn’t matter if do or do support Trump

It is the US under the Trump administration that has gone out of its way to prove it can no longer be relied upon to be an ally, not the UK or European countries that once didn’t question that relationship.
Times have changed very quickly and now we have no idea whether the US will instead of being an ally prove to be as much an enemy as Russia under Putin is.
So you are right Smileless.

I agree

I hope this is the beginning of the end of the Trump administration because the American people turn against this lying thug.

The senate have voted to reduce his powers but according to the news item I listened to even if congress do the same he can just overrule everything. I never realised how much power the president had. And this is someone that has power over all of us in the west, too. It’s terrifying.

This is why it's an insurance to have a monarchy. They are constitutionally above the elected Prime Minister. So if parliament has voted to reduce powers in an extreme situation like Trump, where all the executive posts have gone to his cronies & he's turning the country into a Police State, he either complies or the Monarch can dissolve Parliament & force an election. And they have the power - they are commander in chief of the armed forces and they personally work to retain their loyalty.

I am very careful right now about where I get the footage for that very reason Maybe. This coming from CNN seemed like a trustable source vs. a social media video.

Not much news on the Portland shooting today, other than the FBI seems to be working with the locals.

Syracute Fri 09-Jan-26 20:57:37

You can very clearly hear that the agent said get out of here and that is what they tried to do. I saw one that showed him aggressively filming their car very quickly closely that happened just before this clip. He certainly was making no attempt to deescalate .

MayBee70 Fri 09-Jan-26 20:56:18

I’m probably wrong about this but I’ve been seeing more footage of the event on social media and my gut feeling at times like this that the only footage to believe is what comes out straight after an incident and further down the line it’s likely to be AI confused.

imaround Fri 09-Jan-26 20:35:12

Here is cell phone footage from the agents perspective. I have not had time to look in depth.

As I stated before on this thread, I believe this needs to be investigated and sent to a jury to decide.

Sorry it’s a bit stream of thought .. but the video clip was unnerving.

Maybe we can't rely on other European countries Oreo but that doesn't mean we can or should rely on America.

It’s a pretty sad state that Europe cannot defend itself, we would rather add to our lifestyle and rely on the US, our defence industries have sunk to a very low state it’s shameful..

Just step aside, and let them get on with it?
They are only targeting illegals.
Depends on what you define as an illegal.
Weren't the European Jews so defined, during an horrific time in Germany?

I've seen a few video reports of the event and just cannot make out clearly what happened up to the shooting.

BBC say AI altered videos are out there. They show the original, slowed down and with explanations. It is on the BBC news site.

I don’t think many people in the UK would object to illegal immigrants being targeted by the authorities, but it would be done differently here and nobody would be shot.

My understanding is that ICE don't just target illegal immigrants.

I read a report that they have been harassing Native Americans many of whom do not have the "correct" paperwork. This is particularly ironic as many of the ICE thugs are descended from the white Americans who came over in boats as illegal immigrants not that long ago and snatched land and resources from the indigenous population. They also murdered large numbers of them.
