Woman shot and killed by ICE officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Yesterday there was a very tragic shooting of a woman leaving the scene of an Immigration raid/incident . The video clips are very disturbing as she is shot and killed by an officer after she was given conflicting information by two officers . One who told her to leave and another who told her to get out of the car.
She was killed by a third officer who was to the side of the car . I can only advise you not to watch the clip if you feel it might be disturbing . I was able to read a good account of it in the NYT and it definitely looks and reads like she was murdered.
She was a white, US citizen not a target of the raid.

I truly feel like the USA is imploding from the inside out and that Trump is creating fires of danger everywhere.

I've seen a few video reports of the event and just cannot make out clearly what happened up to the shooting.

This is what an interaction with ICE is like for the protestors. This is just one example. There are countless out there.

Not everyone, including myself would agree with you.
We simply cannot rely on other European countries, look what happened when Starmer and Macron tried to drum up support over Ukraine, the so called coalition of the willing….very few were actually willing.

Wyllow3 Fri 09-Jan-26 18:32:48

She most certainly is.

Fallingstar Fri 09-Jan-26 18:21:28

It is the US under the Trump administration that has gone out of its way to prove it can no longer be relied upon to be an ally, not the UK or European countries that once didn’t question that relationship.
Times have changed very quickly and now we have no idea whether the US will instead of being an ally prove to be as much an enemy as Russia under Putin is.
So you are right Smileless.

Smileless2012 Fri 09-Jan-26 17:51:45

Yes in my view as the US being our best ally in the world is your view Oreo.

The USA is not ally of ours Oreo or anyone else's; not anymore.

In your view and maybe that of various people too, but the US is def our best ally in the world, we can’t rely on the assorted other countries in Europe and only the US is powerful enough to deter our enemies.

I don’t think many people in the UK would object to illegal immigrants being targeted by the authorities, but it would be done differently here and nobody would be shot.

It isn’t our fight frogoet
If it was then I would be agreeing with you.

Oreo there are many ways to fight back !!

Yes, if it can be done without direct confrontation.

Frogoet Fri 09-Jan-26 17:18:28

I’m afraid Oreo that it is attitudes like ‘let them get on with it’ that leads to a country going past the point of no return. Protest should and must be allowed.
In this country the government are making this more and more difficult but thankfully the Police dot have guns.
The woman was observing. She wasn’t even on the street.
To say they should be unimpeded in rounding up people shows a lack of empathy. I fear that because that is how Reform talk.
We are citizens of the World and if I was in the US I would hope I’d be brave and observe/ protest.
Collusion with Trump is Starmer’s worst failing and it will be worse if Reform get in more

The USA is a shit show right now, so no offense taken. smile And yes, we do things much differently. I remember in my Criminal Justice classes in college we learned about the UK system of policing. I was always so surprised at the difference! I was young and naive back then

Of course a discussion like this will bring about a discussion of the differences!

Oreo Fri 09-Jan-26 16:43:13

imaround I don’t mean to denigrate the US, it’s your country and our best ally, but am just pointing out that things are done differently here and mostly without lethal weapons.

God forbid if she'd been black there would have been riots.

What does that mean?

The lady who was murdered was monitoring ICE activities in her neighbourhood. She had been doing this for some time, not just on this day. She was unarmed so posed no threat to said officers! She was waving cars on to go past her. How anybody on this forum can justify her being shot 3 times at close range by a masked man is beyond my comprehension as a female. Shame on anybody on here who can justify this crime against a fellow human being. Shame on anybody who accepts the views of Trump and the ever obnoxious Vance as being acceptable . This is how it all began with SS, Gestapo and the nazi party. The US seems to, to me, to be a thoroughly unpleasant place at the moment but all credit to those who are challenging and fighting back. I never thought I would observe this behaviour in the US .

I haven’t seen a single post on here that justifies her being shot ,
So be prepared to point it out?
Nothing justifies a person being killed by the authorities unless they pose a real risk of injuring others around them, and that’s what we abide by here in the UK.
The US is quite different, have you seen the figures there for the police shooting people? Even when they are running away in many cases. If you even look like threatening police or immigration officers or anyone else armed and in authority you can be shot.
I don’t think citizens there should be fighting back, challenging, yes if they want to but not taking an active part in any kind of obstruction, it’s too dangerous.

I’ve watched three videos of this incident and I saw her pointing the car at the ice officer and appearing to accelerate towards him. Just goes to show how we all see things differently, it does seem that those who hate Trump see one thing and his supporters see another.

Those videos are AI generated, and only appeared once the stills and videos of the actual incident had been seen. Whether Trump knows or cares that the videos he may have seen are fake, he does enjoy a bit of violence, confirmed by his enjoyment of the live feed of the kidnap of Maduro. No ICE agent was injured, it's all a total lie.

Oreo Fri 09-Jan-26 16:24:25

DrWatson I agree with all you say about Trump. The comment to me was silly and I stand by that. Also you have only got to read the many interpretations of the event on this one thread to realise that unless you were there staring into the car then you can’t truly know what and why things occurred as they did.

Frenchgalinspain Fri 09-Jan-26 16:14:25

Definitely murder ..

The Ice thug should be imprisoned for life .. It was also taped on video ..

Terribly cruelty and sadistic on part of this Thug ..

Whitewavemark2 - totally agree. The body language of the shooter is pretty revealing too. He holsters his gun & walks towards the dead woman as though out for a casual stroll.

There are many protests . The one where she lives had 1000s of people. There have been many more all over the USA. People are fed up with the ICE thug tactics. They will not rest until there is justice for Renee.

I interpreted it as they tried several means to get her to leave her car, Shen drove over an agent.

That is patently untrue but it is what Trump and ICE want you to believe.

I understand she had just left her child to school.
