Woman shot and killed by ICE officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Yesterday there was a very tragic shooting of a woman leaving the scene of an Immigration raid/incident . The video clips are very disturbing as she is shot and killed by an officer after she was given conflicting information by two officers . One who told her to leave and another who told her to get out of the car.
She was killed by a third officer who was to the side of the car . I can only advise you not to watch the clip if you feel it might be disturbing . I was able to read a good account of it in the NYT and it definitely looks and reads like she was murdered.
She was a white, US citizen not a target of the raid.

I truly feel like the USA is imploding from the inside out and that Trump is creating fires of danger everywhere.

Menopauselbitch, she did not drive over anyone.
If you are driven over by a car, you are very seriously injured, or dead. No ICE agent was damaged during this event.

BREAKING: National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman pens a moving poem in the wake of the tragic ICE killing of innocent Minneapolis mother Renée Good.

Gorman is perhaps best known for writing and delivering her poem "The Hill We Climb" at President Joe Biden's inauguration. Now, her words come to us as our country is torn apart by MAGA fascism...

"For Renee Nicole Good Killed by I.C.E. on January 7, 2026."

by Amanda Gorman

They say she is no more,
That there her absence roars,
Blood-blown like a rose.
Iced wheels flinched & froze.
Now, bare riot of candles,
Dark fury of flowers,
Pure howling of hymns.

If for us she arose,
Somewhere, in the pitched deep of our grief,
Crouches our power,
The howl where we begin,
Straining upon the edge of the crooked crater
Of the worst of what we’ve been.

Change is only possible,
& all the greater,
When the labour
& bitter anger of our neighbors
Is moved by the love
& better angels of our nature.

What they call death & void,
We know is breath & voice;
In the end, gorgeously,
Endures our enormity.

You could believe departed to be the dawn
When the blank night has so long stood.
But our bright-fled angels will never be fully gone,
When they forever are so fiercely Good.

Please like and share!

So moving.
RIP Renee Nicole Good

I interpreted it as they tried several means to get her to leave her car, Shen drove over an agent.

Oreo, before you start labelling a comment as "silly", you need to see the films (on all channels) which CLEARLY show that the poor woman, who has been a regular documenter of folk being needlessly harassed by ICE 'gestapo', was no threat, and far from driving at an official, he had to go TO the car to shoot her at close range, several times.

There is also a mountain of evidence, from Chump's reign, of all manner of minorities being illegally targeted, this is due to him being a complete racist (look up his record with employed minorities in casinos?). Maybe reference his 2019 attack on the 'gang of 4' (Democrat congresswomen of colour) telling them to "go back and fix your **hole countries" -- some irony as 3 of them were born in the States (& therefore more right to be there than the now-estranged Melania!).

As for "immigrants coming from Latin America", yes, lots of them in the States, the vast majority are QUITE LEGAL. This is due to the situation, now dating back for many decades (to the 60s perhaps?), of Americans not wanting to do the lousy, dirty, low-paid jobs at the bottom of their huge economy, hence the surge of such people to fill those gaps. If racists like Chump and Farage had their way, and all brown-skinned people "went home", the health services here and there would collapse in an instant, which would brutally affect most of their similarly racist supporters, some irony?

Chump isn't just a racist, sexist liar, fraud and political opportunist, he's also a total hypocrite (though I doubt his limited education would know the word). In his first electoral campaign, he was banging on about that famous wall (& how Mexico would pay -- how did THAT go?!) whilst labelling most Mexicans as "rapists" -- but his winery interests were trying to recruit MORE cheap Mexican labour for those estates!

I’ve watched three videos of this incident and I saw her pointing the car at the ice officer and appearing to accelerate towards him. Just goes to show how we all see things differently, it does seem that those who hate Trump see one thing and his supporters see another.

We cancelled our October cruise, leaving from Florida and going through the Panama Canal, partly through ethical reasons and tbh partly through fear. This dreadful incident assures me that we were right.

Oreo - maybe ‘don’t get in their way’ with regard to ICE is the advice you would have given here in the picture?
Is it also the same advice you would give when you see thugs attacking people in the streets of the UK?
We need people with moral fibre to stand up and be counted against injustice and barbarity. Otherwise the world will be populated only by cowards and bystanders who become part of the problem.

Yes it has been obvious for months that neighbours and friends are those trying to help people being so badly treated, even though they put themselves at risk.

Easy to turn your back and say “nothing to do with me” but when it’s your turn, don’t expect anyone to come to your aid.

I met a friend yesterday whose DH is very active regarding help for Palestine.

He, along with a couple of friends decided to start a Palestine help group in their Sussex village. They advertised the meeting and to their astonishment over 200 local people turned up, and it has grown from there.

People do care and are willing to put themselves on the line.

If people wish to protest immigration trying to find illegal immigrants it’s up to them ( can’t think why they would do it) then they just have to do it in a way that they can stay safe, in a group away from cars with no kind of obstruction at all.
It’s the only way.

Well you ought to see how they are doing it !
I watched a video where they dragged a pregnant woman from her car across the snow. These are human beings . If you saw a dog being dragged by his leash where he was collapsed on the ground would that not upset you ?
People, who care, who are feeling human beings , get affected by watching these scenes. These are not all vicious gang members like Starfire would have you believe. They are peoples neighbors who have lived and worked and paid taxes.
People who have been a part of the community. I am glad that there are people brave enough to watch, to witness and object. If it not for those private citizens with phones that bravely recorded on their phones what happened this officer may have gotten away with this murder. Because that is what this was . I need though the hope there will be a court of law because the way it is going it may be an attempt to exonerate this officer.
To whitewash the crime we all know happened.

Well said Mamie. So true and so pertinent.
Oreo. there are times when silent protest will not do and when people have to speak out to be counted, I fear this is one of them

They needn’t be silent.

Her car was not blocking the road.
She was not protesting.
She was attempting to move away, as ordered by one of agents.
She is a victim.

The video showed me three things, firstly one officer was telling her to move on then another told her to get out, and thirdly it was icy on the road so was hard to move the car with three officers in close proximity.
If I were driving that car I would be totally panicked and unable to decide what to do with such conflicting instructions and then seeing an officer pull his gun.
She must have been terrified.
Nothing about this looks like a woman using her car as a weapon and everything about it looks like an innocent woman trying to cope with a very scary situation and then being shot dead without enough time or clear instructions to do what was required of her.

I wasn't meaning to be rude to David. I should perhaps have said 'boasting of British exceptionalism' instead of 'xenophobic' 🤔'

I’ve travelled in countries where police and army road checks are routine, you answer questions and obey orders because they have machine guns at the ready. If you attempt to drive off they will open fire.
I’ve seen others marched off a gunpoint because they thought it was funny to make smart comments., customs and police often don’t have a sense of humor.

But how often have they shot anyone, David?

In a country where criminals routinely carry guns like the US or many or many others, quite often, when someone points a gun at you it’s not a good time to argue.

Last year 1300 civilians were killed by police in the US.

Is there a reason apart from not wanting illegal immigrants?
We don’t want them here either.

But we don’t have armed and trigger happy border forces.
There is a world of difference.
Trump has sent in this bunch of obviously badly trained gun toting cowboys because this is how he approaches any problem, with brute force, in order to show what a strong armed dictator he is.

I would agree, and that’s all the more reason for citizens there to be very very careful.

“Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.”
John Stuart Mill 1867

Citizens can take part in protests peacefully on the sidewalks there, hold placards and show what they think of this strongarm immigration policy.
There’s a big difference between that and confrontational actions which could lead to injury or death.

We saw much of this behaviour in Trumps first term, but this time it has got far worse.

The trouble was that it ended in an attempted coup with the insurrection on Jan6th.

What will happen this time?
