Woman shot and killed by ICE officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota

I hope this is the beginning of the end of the Trump administration because the American people turn against this lying thug.

And now the FBI has shut down the investigation of the officer by refusing to work with the local authorities and not sharing crucial evidence, thus stopping any independent investigation.

There are at least 3 Supreme Court Cases that have settled case law on this, and none of those cases are in favor of the ICE officer in this instance. Even DHS policy states that they aren't allowed to fire into moving vehicles unless there are a limited number of circumstances.

I understand what Oreo is saying in that this could be a gray area, and it does look like she tried to run him over. I doubt this will ever go to court, but if it does, this is what I would expect to see from the Prosecutor.

1. she was trying to leave the scene and she waved the ICE vehicle through to go around her.
2. She was given a directive to leave the area before the masked ICE agents got out of their unmarked truck, which she was trying to do. There was 2 other police officials behind her car that show no fear of their lives being in danger.
3. After she was given a directive to leave, the masked men got out of the truck and surrounded her.
4. The officer that shot her had walked around the back side of her vehicle, then across the front of the vehicle from what I can see. She was distracted by the other 2 officers yelling at her to get out of the car. I wonder if she knew he was there.

Her car drive away straight because he shot her point blank in the head. She died, her foot hit the pedal and the car went until it hit whatever stopped it. A pole I think?

The ICE agent who shot her, who Trump stated was hospitalized from this event, calmly walked away from the vehicle and then the rest of the agents refused her medical help.

There is enough reasonable doubt, in my opinion, to cast doubt that this man's life was really in danger and this excessive force was needed.

Add on to that the history of ICE agents harming protestors.

I am not a court, nor a jury though. This man needs to be tried and a jury can decide if he was justified. He wont though, because the investigation was just taken over by the FBI.

This is absolutely horrendous. What an awful world we are living ! Mind you as a Jewish person I am glad I live in the UK!

And what excuses are being offered for not allowing medical aid to the victim?

To stop the vehicle 'getting away', all the officer had to do was pump the three bullets into the tyres and not into her face!
No excuse!

What is so worrying to me is that at the end of last year, we mentioned the fact that 2026 is Trumps last year of real power, after which for various reasons he would not be so powerful.

We then went on to say that to expect some pretty unpleasant stuff in 2026.

I am sure that no one expected so much just 8 days into the new year.

We all get upset at what we witness. We are human, and to my mind you are not normal if it doesn't affect you.

Personally I don't agree we should just let ICE officers " get on with their jobs" if this is what they do and the outcome- dead citizens. I'll just agree to differ with you on that and trust that the ICE officer in this incident and Homeland Security is held to account.

You have not explained Oreo in what way this last was "messing" with ICE agents. Neither have you given any reason why the burden falls on individuals to not "mess" with ICE agents, whatever that means, rather than ICE agents carrying out their role appropriately and within the law.

15.52 post clearly sets out ICE officer's requirement to uphold their role on the streets ie "prioritising public safety", "use reasonable and necessary force when someone resists arrest". "Ice officers and agents prioritise safety of the people they arrest- are highly trained in de-escalation". "Everyone ICE arrests receives due process".

This woman was not arrested, her safety was not prioritised, proportionate and necessary force was not sued and I saw no attempts of ICE to de escalate - well anything and unclear what exactly if anything the dead woman did wrong....

Doesn't look good to me either....and there are videos all over YouTube now showing what happened.

See 15.52 post re ICE officer role. Looking at the videos in this post I can see not legitimate reason or jurisdiction within the ICE officers role and powers to shoot and kill this woman in her vehicle at close range.

Bellingcat have recreated the positions of cars and people on an aerial shot and alongside it is video shot at the actual time. It is absolutely clear that there was plenty of space for other traffic.

There is no question that this was murder of a US citizen and a mother of a 6 year old child.

MayBee70, I went onto the ice.gov website to find out more information about their role. Also includes detail of training if you care to look. Their key role is to be "on the streets prioritising public safety by locating, arresting and removing criminal aliens and immigration violators from our neighbourhoods". "ICE officials use reasonable and necessary force when someone resists arrest. Ice officers and agents prioritise safety of the people they arrest- are highly trained in de-escalation". "Everyone ICE arrests receives due process".

Trump has increased ICE officers powers by executive order and decreased funding for other things like drugs and child sex trafficking enforcement to boost funding for ICE.

There is no mention at all in the latest news section on the ice website regarding this fatal shooting or the other incidents listed below.

ITVX news has some good information. It reports last September ICE fatally shot another person outside Chicago and 2 others died after being struck by vehicles whilst fleeing ICE and a Californian farmworker fell to his death during an ICE raid last July. Homeland Security issued a statement in relation to the September death that the person shot "evaded arrest and dragged an officer with his vehicle". HS said the officer "opened fire fearing for his life and was hospitalised". However local police body cam videos showed otherwise and the agent who shot the victim dead walked around afterwards dismissing his own injuries as "nothing major".

A further non fatal ICE shooting occurred last July and the person shot charged with a felony by ICE. However the case was dismissed after videos emerged that showed an ICE agent steering his vehicle into the truck of the person they shot, not the other way around.....

No ICE officers have ever been charged in relation to these deaths.

I don’t just jump on bandwagons MaizieD but if you or anyone reads all my posts you’ll see that I don’t exonerate anyone.I have watched the video, or the only ones available and there was obstruction as her car was sideways across the road. What happened earlier is a moot point at the moment as we don’t know.
All US gun carrying authorities seem at times to be trigger happy as I have already said.

Oreo I can only repeat what my friend , living in Chicago tells me. Her Jewish neighbours are so worried about ICE that they are frightened to leave their apartment block.
There are examples of ICE picking up American Citizens and detaining them . They don't seem to ask questions but are handy with the pepper spray , their fists and now their guns.

The US is now a fascist state and it’s terrifying. I wonder how all the rational American citizens are feeling and will be watching the mid-terms with interest.
