has anyone seen the support for Starmer & Labour on Threads today? it's unbelievable!! People are joining/rejoinig Labour cos they know a good man when they see one!

It can't be easy to find someone to work with Trump, he's mercurial at the best of times & so Starmer made a mistake, he quickly rectified it and apologised.

I'd far rather he & Labour were in charge, we're not having billions passed to their mates via Covid contracts or planning permission hurriedly given to pals (Jenrick)

I'd rather know how much Farage is in the Epstein files but the media continues to big him up, the BBC's Kuensberg giving him 1 hour publicity disguised as a documentary.

In my own field, fostering, I see fab new regulations including stop to the huge profits private fostering agencies were making by charging enormous amounts for providing foster homes for kids, these companies are often based overseas too.

Well done Labour!!

Yes I agree that circumstances can change Basgetti, but how many of these families do you see, where parents have tattoos, Botox, lip fillers, drink, or smoke.
When I am in the supermarket, they are ordering taxis to take them & their many bags of shopping home.
Yes there are genuine families struggling.

There are badduns in all walks of life - as the news headlines currently demonstrate - but it’s for those genuine families that the help is needed. I do believe they are the majority.

How do you know they are claiming Universal Credit?

I don’t know much about the Greens.
Just heard that that they are getting stronger.
Still, I won’t be bothering to vote for them.

I know a good few people who have family, or know of people who claim UC.
Quite open about it.
I just wonder how they afford all these beauty treatments, or taxi to & from the town centre.

I sent a supportive email to K Starmer today and suggested they keep the country informed of the good things they’ve done far. Just saying.

Yes, their comms people have done a terrible job!

There isnt going to be a GE and Starmer isn't going to resign.

This government is working hard to improve things but you don't see that in the press.

There is too much at stake to begin short-termism again.

We need long-term stability and level headedness.

Do people really want a return to chaos- or worse?

Exactly.

Throwing the toys out of the pram every time a politician is not perfect leads to constant political instability.

Just be glad that we a free of the buffoonery and blatant disregard for the law of the Tory regime.

Basgetti Sat 07-Feb-26 17:25:14

People really do have very short memories, don’t they?

sundowngirl Sat 07-Feb-26 17:55:21

There is a lot of ‘whataboutery’ on this thread - the Tories, Reform, etc It is just deflection.
Starmer made a serious error of judgement. He may have been badly advised by Morgan McSweeney and co. but the buck stops with him. Unfortunately there is no one waiting in the Labour wings who would do a better job of PM

Wyllow3 Sat 07-Feb-26 18:22:09

Please can someone point me towards any serious information whatsoever that any more than a few people want Angela Raynor as PM

I'm in the LP and she's not seen as a runner in any way at all in our discussions. Scare/dirty story stuff from the right.

No it isn’t.
The unions would support her in a heartbeat.

At this stage am thinking that almost anyone would do a better job.

I don’t know how you came to that conclusion, as she has been suspended by the Unions. Why would they back a non endorsed candidate?

Maremia Sat 07-Feb-26 18:42:48

As the song goes,
You say deflection, I say comparison

Oreo Sat 07-Feb-26 18:42:56

Because they always like a left leftwinger is why.

Casdon Sat 07-Feb-26 18:50:13

The Unions don’t see Angela Rayner as a left winger. They don’t think she represents the members in the way they want her to. That’s why they ditched her.

I can’t see them getting behind anyone else that’s for sure.
Only Corbyn and he’s toast and not even in the LP now.

Oreo Sat 07-Feb-26 18:54:43

I see her as a strong contender with many backers.

But the others are not running the country are they?? Starmer is doing a terrible job. How can we trust him now?

Casdon Sat 07-Feb-26 19:19:29

I don’t get this fear of ‘the left’. They are a minority in the parliamentary Labour Party. Their choice of candidate won’t win. It won’t be Angela Rayner either. Look to the recent process to appoint the Deputy Leader.

Primrose53 Sat 07-Feb-26 20:53:02

“Unbelieveable support” for Starmer and the Labour Party?
You’re havin’ a larf encha? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Casdon Sat 07-Feb-26 21:29:49

Labour will still be in government, with or without Starmer, that the fact we do know.

Grantanow Fri 13-Feb-26 08:36:44

I don't think people are joining or rejoining Labour because Starmer is a good man. I think they know they can vote in a Left wing leader and PM once Starmer goes. Angela, maybe.

Casdon Fri 13-Feb-26 08:51:18

Membership of the Labour Party, or any other party is not an indication of the number of votes they would get in a general election though Grantanow. People who seek to influence join, but they are not representative.
