Yet another U-turn for keir

The government has abandoned plans to delay 30 council elections in England following legal advice.

You would think that a former DPP would know the law.

I should think he doesn’t know which way is up after all his U turns and flip flops. 🤣

He doesn't even know what a woman is, never mind which way is up....

No point in my further engaging with you on this AGAA4
Wise indeed to leave the thread for now, long backwards and forwards with others/ spats are boring. We have all said what we think.

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 14:20:15

Casdon has wisely left the discussion I think. And I'm still waiting for my answer. You are bored because you are wrong.

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 14:17:51

I’m getting very bored now with this.
I addressed my comments above to Casdon not you.

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 14:16:11

No all is not well as I don't like lies told about me Oreo

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 14:14:12

I didn't actually say that. If you read back that was not me.
I only disagreed with fancythat's views that's all.
You need to get your facts straight before you accuse other posters!

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 14:09:35

You did say you had enough of the discussion Casdon and told fancythat that she had made her point it was going round in circles and that ‘we’ don’t agree with you.It wasn’t a personal discussion between three people it was a discussion on an open forum.
You’ve made your point now and I’ve made mine so all is well.

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 14:02:55

All posters are the same on a forum, length of tenure doesn’t make any difference and all are free to voice their opinion for as long as they care to.

Who have I told that they aren't free to voice their opinions? You are making false accusations without explaining.

Casdon Wed 18-Feb-26 14:00:24

But what is being referred to was a specific discussion between three people Oreo. You can’t interject to police people saying they have had enough of that particular discussion because it’s going nowhere. Nobody is saying that the other person should not carry on?

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 13:59:58

You haven't answered my question. I think I know what GN is all about without you telling me.

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 13:53:52

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 13:46:32

What are you accusing me of Oreo?
You need to spell it out rather than say oh the irony.
I have been on GN for many years now and listen to others' views but may disagree and that's allowed.

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 13:40:10

AGAA4

Oreo freedom to express their views applies to all on GN not just those you agree with.

Oh the irony!

Casdon Wed 18-Feb-26 13:29:52

Oreo. I have never used the royal ‘we. I don’t care if you disagree with what I said, but I do think it was very clear that I wasn’t using it then either. I’m not interested in hearing the same point from the same person repeated over and over, so I was absenting myself from the backwards and forwards of it, was all.

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 13:21:11

Not rude at all AGAA4 I really dislike the use of ‘we’ aimed at a poster whether it’s two other posters or a dozen.
Each poster can answer for themselves or say ‘I agree with *
I have seen the ‘we’ used on forums before to silence posters.
Actually it doesn’t matter if you and Casdon don’t agree with
fancythat or how many times a poster wants to say something, they are free to go on making their point.

fancythat Wed 18-Feb-26 13:01:25

Thank you Oreo.

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 12:47:26

Oreo

Yes there was.

It was rude to speak of the Royal we if you knew how the conversation went.
As Casdon explained it was clear that we was Casdon and me. Nobody else.

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 12:42:25

Yes there was.

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 12:40:02

Oreo

Yes I have read the whole thread.

So no need for that reply to Casdon was there.

I haven’t seen FriedGreentomatoes on here for a while. Hope she’s ok?

I was thinking that too only I couldn’t remember her GN name.
She said her husband had serious health problems at one point.
A very nice poster who stayed cheerful despite having problems.

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 12:33:44

Yes I have read the whole thread.

Casdon Wed 18-Feb-26 12:25:20

Oreo it is AGAA4 and I, and I was referring to the specific conversation we were having with fancythatI thought that was quite clear from the protracted discussion, perhaps you hadn’t read it before commenting.

AGAA4 Wed 18-Feb-26 12:22:10

Oreo

Is that the Royal ‘we’ Casdon ? I ask as there are many posts that don’t agree with you either on the subject ofLabour wanting to cancel local elections.Telling councils that they needn’t bother if they don’t want to, citing cost and boundary changes in a year when the more likely reason is fear this year that Reform will do well was always going to cause problems.

You need to RTT to see how the conversation went.
