I don’t agree, “the whole thing is awful”, I’m actually glad that this illustrates that “no one is above the law”

To have arrested him so publicly the police and CPS must have shedloads of evidence to have taken this step.

It’s his victims and his poor daughters whom I pity, not him and not his ex-wife, whom I actually quite like. They are both abhorrent.

Happy Birthday Sarnia I'm sure yours will be much happier than Andrew's.

I truly thought that this would never happen.
I really believed that the Royal Family were above the law.
I am relieved this is not so.

I’m astonished. What it says to me is how much more is to be exposed and the egregious nature of that so Charles snd other senior royals realised they had to ‘allow’ the arrest. It’s an existential issue now for the royal family .

Quite right too. Nobody should be above the law.

No. I think that’s what Magna Carta was about. Nobody is above the law.

It’s his birthday today, they must have wanted to really rub it in!

It's my birthday today too. I am not guilty by association I hope.

I’ve always believed that the only person above the law is the Monarch. Not their siblings or children, just the reigning King or Queen.

AGAA4 Thu 19-Feb-26 10:25:58

The police must have solid evidence to arrest AMW. Surely he will face a prison sentence if found guilty which is only right.

Nannylovesshopping Thu 19-Feb-26 10:24:17

Not the birthday surprise he was expecting…

paddyann54 Thu 19-Feb-26 10:23:50

They are all complicit as they apparently pooled recourses to pay Victoria Guiffre
They have the best PR and without it nobody would be interested in royalty.
It’s a medieval concept and should have been left in the Middle Ages.
No one should be treated with such privilege just because of birth …

If there are no charges it will not be believed

Really ?

The police must be pretty sure of the evidence. There is no way I assume that they would arrest the King’s brother if they were not convinced of his guilt?

We should be careful about our language. The police clearly believe they have sufficient grounds for an arrest and have been granted search warrants. Having investigated further if they think there’s sufficient evidence for charging him, they’ll pass the case papers to the CPS to decide.

I bet he’s sweating now!

Oh well it might sort out the problem of where Andrew spends his retirement…. Or not?

Now will he be forced by law to testify?

There are two different issues - the one he’s been arrested for which allegedly happened when he was trade envoy. The call for him to testify is about the sex trafficking / paedophilia issues although of course the flight records been investigated may help with that

The whole thing is awful . Let's see what happens next . We don't know the truth and probably never will .

No. But Andrew definitely needs to help the police with their enquiries as all other law abiding citizens do, and to cooperate fully with the investigation. No more silly denials please that can be so easily disproved.

Yes I just heard that! Wow! Will he take his teddies to the local nick?
On a more serious note, it had to happen.
