This is going to be a huge mess. What is really sad is, all those companies will get refunds. Think the consumer will? Think prices will go down? Billions of dollars of our money gone. He already announced another 10% tariff and has said the rest will remain. That is illegal too.

This is illegal, too. This is what is puzzling me, imaround. The current tarrif imposition has been judged to be ilegal and all over my social media there were business people rubbing their hands at the thought of getting their money back. But who is going to order the implementation of that?

Likewise, who is going to implement this further 10%? What are steps from presidential rant to EO and instruction to the bureaucracy who will implement it?

The 'real' message usually comes out in the overnight rant.
Haven't seen that yet.

Trump said he was ashamed of members of the Supreme Court and then went on to say that the US has the power to destroy other countries but can’t put a few extra dollars on tariffs, indeed was bigging up how great the US is in general as usual. He sounds positively demented and someone should whisper in his shell like ear that tariffs punish ordinary Americans as much as those he wants to issue tariffs against.
Perhaps what has happened to Andrew should underline the fact that nobody is above the law, not even this poor excuse for a president.
Can’t someone have him assessed for dementia. Have never heard a sane grown man talk like him. Is like a badly written spoof.

Perversely this ruling will actually help the economy.

Our predictions that this will be his last year of any real power to change things domestically seem correct, however, he is still free to wreak havoc around the world.

I suspect that this is how he will spend the last couple of years of his presidency - threatening, doing deals, shunting in his son-in-law to finalise deals for the Trump family etc. - if his cognitive ability stands up to it.

His Presidency is on life support now IMO. No one takes him, or MAGA seriously any longer. Even MAGA is turning on him. They no longer have the upper hand. We've seen too much. He will still do damage while he can, but his days are numbered.

I was not expecting the Supreme Court to grow a backbone, given that some of them are Trump appointees.
Mr Trump has explained that the reason for this is foreign infiltration.
Perhaps it's those aliens he's looking at just now

I think two of his appointees voted not as he wished and so swayed the vote. Amazing

Trump has announced a 10% global tariff after the disappointing result from the Supreme Court.

Maremia Fri 20-Feb-26 18:32:02

They played a clip, from the time when he first announced the tariffs, and then a clip from him at a conference yesterday.
The difference in 'voice' power was very obvious.

US citizens must be relieved to know that the checks and balance system is not entirely dead.

Just watching it now…don’t suppose anything much will happen as he seems to do what he wants regardless.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 20-Feb-26 18:26:36

He’s not happy is he😄😄.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 20-Feb-26 17:33:44

I’ve heard that he has a plan B.

Tuliptree Fri 20-Feb-26 17:29:51

Apparently he’s giving a press conference shortly. £130bn has already been collected in tariffs and even Brett Kavanagh has said sorting this out will be a mess. It can all be sorted it seems imposing tariffs individually but will take time. He’s just going to be so furious he’s been thwarted and by his own specially constituted SC. How very dare they?

LemonJam Fri 20-Feb-26 17:22:58

Excellent news Tuliptree. I look forward to the fall out and unravelling of the implications.

Tuliptree Fri 20-Feb-26 17:13:24

Flipping heck - by a majority of 6-3 the USSC has ruled he exceeded his powers in imposing tariffs when there was not a state of national emergency. He is going to be do very very cross - he’ll be sacking the six naughty ones I expect
