I am not happy that UK is assisting in this illegal war, especially without consulting parliament.

We just become a target. And completely unnecessarily.

The UK was not involved in launching the initial US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

The UK has now permitted the United States to use British bases for strikes against Iranian missile sites, under a limited and defensive remit.

British forces are also engaging in defensive operations against Iranian attacks.

The UK interprets this as part of protecting its own forces, its citizens in the region, and regional allies, not as entering a full-scale war against Iran.

Trump saying he is disappointed in Starmer for taking so long to let him use airbases on the Chagos Islands.
This does make me cross. Trump didn’t bother to ask allies about the sudden pressing need for a huge war with Iran that would lead to allies being dragged into it, nor did he bother to put it before congress.
But now he expects everyone to join in, despite distancing himself in every way from Europe and the UK, saying they never helped the US out before - completely forgetting Iraq abd Afhanistan, or that we should go our own way and not rely on the US.
So how about the US not relying on us in this latest war game?

I do feel for the Arab states that opposed this war and have been brought into it.
Trump ignored their thoughts that war was the wrong way to go but sided with Netanyahu who is always in favour of war.
Pleasant for Trump peacefully playing golf while those countries are being bombed because they have US military there.

Trump isn't as disappointed in Starmer as I am for agreeing to this Fallingstar. He insults us and other European countries, shoots his mouth off about how great and wonderful the USA is so doesn't need anyone else, embarks on a war that only him and Netanyahu wants and then expects to receive any support he wants, when he wants it .

I think it’s highly likely that any UK government would allow their bases to be used, as are other European countries. We are defending our allies, unwillingly, but what other choice do we have exactly? We aren’t taking aggressive action. Should we have refused to allow defensive actions to operate from our bases and jeopardised our allies in the Middle East?

I am opposed to the action that USA and Israel took in the first place, but I’m struggling to understand where some people are coming from on this particular issue, particularly those who thought that it was a good plan to attack Iran.

He says things may not be as clear cut as Trump and Netanyahu think as there have been thousands of protestors on the streets of Iran showing support to their current regime. I think these two may have opened a large can of worms.

I am not usually one for conspiracy theories, but there is something about this surprise attack that doesn’t seem to be much of a surprise to some organisations.

(I have already posted that the U.K. Embassy in Tehran closed Friday evening with all staff relocated outside of the city)

Im sure nobody was tipped off it was pretty clear that it was close to starting with the build up thats been happening in the last month.

My conclusion, I'm not very happy tho, but lets see if the US transgresses the agreement on the use made of them.

Three US fighter jets shot down mistakenly may distract.

With so many aircraft chasing drones it's always risky loosing track of each other is always difficult to avoid it's not an air show display when everything is coordinated, thankful all crew are safe.

Germany, France and the U.K. seem to be coordinating their responses. France is extending its nuclear umbrella. (Whatever that means?) I guess it will use it to protect the alliance in Europe?

I hope someone suggests a stop soon to understand where we are going with all this. We can’t have WW3 by default, as happened with WW1.

I also hope someone still has their eye on Putin. He may well take advantage of this fandango and move to grab further territory.

Trump is suggesting that Starmer is not getting involved in this war as he is pandering to the Muslim community. The special relationship is very sad he has said.
Starmer has made it clear that the UK didn't join the USA in attack because the war was not legal and there was no plan for the aftermath.
Trump has to make cheap digs if he doesn't get what he wants.

He is best simply ignored. Just as you do a toddler with a tantrum.

I don't think he had a choice there but Iraq is on everyone's minds above a certain age.

BTW, we have other interests in the region - remember when our fuel prices shot up when the war commenced with Ukraine -so we bought more from the middle east.
