Trump promises increased bombing and regime change. They are presently hitting Tehran one of the most populated cities in the region.
My heart goes out to innocent Iranians.

In Sydney the Iranians are throwing a big party and cheering together because that murderous man is dead. He has killed. hundreds of people . If you support someone like that then why not go and live under his regime? Totally and utterly disgusted that anyone thinks the regime in Iran was good and should just be left to prosper. I am horrified by comments here.

Can you name the posters who support the regime and/or thinks the regime in Iran was good and should just be left to prosper?

Or do you mean that anyone who is questioning what these air-strikes will, ultimately, lead to and how this will all pan out is, in your book, therefore a regime supporter?

We don’t know what really happened Maremia. There’s no harm in making sure….
Also Trump wasn’t President at the time of the October killings in Israel. It might have been different?

Yes. It is beginning to look like it. Anarchy where those with power will dominate and repress.

It is absolutely essential that we join up with Europe.

And then do what though?

Trump destroyed Iran's nuclear capability last summer.

And wasn't it Trump who tore up a non nuclear proliferation?

He had to destroy everything that Obama did.

Yup, this is absolutely right. Trump has to destroy anything of value or put his name on it, hence the Kennedy Centre becoming the Trump Kennedy Centre and now no one wants to perform there. It's why he's torn down the East wing of the White House to build the Trump ballroom, it's why he's covered the White House in gold, Trump style idea of taste and beauty. Yuck, the man is vile. He ripped up a perfectly reasonable agreement with Iran because it was negotiated by Obama and has now attacked Iran, not because it is a threat to the US but because Iran is weak and Israel wants to finish it off. He doesn't give a damn about the Iranian people but he does care about money and keeping the Epstein files off the front page.

Am I right in thinking that the UN has been thrown under the bus at this point?

And stuff about "illegal" or "legal" war has been rendered irrelevant?

Rulebook been ripped up/thrown away?

The trouble with Trump is that abnormal behaviour by politicians is now becoming the norm. If someone had written a futuristic dystopian book about someone like him decades ago no one would have taken it seriously.

Iran as a nuclear power is guff? I wish ….

sixandahalf Sun 01-Mar-26 18:01:18

The lunacy will be to allow Iran nuclear power.

Oh for Heaven's sake, do you really believe this guff we are fed?

He is acting like John Wayne in a really bad cowboy film.

The talks were stalling I had read. Not serious.
Well the Iranian navy has lost 9 ships so damage limitation should be key for negotiations?? There’s no way that the huge power of the USA and Israel won’t win through against Iran…. Said DH.

Fallingstar Sun 01-Mar-26 17:58:02

I really can’t get my head round this. So Trump and Netanyahu cause a serious loss of life which many Iranians think is to free them from the yoke of religious oppression, to renegotiate with the regime on nuclear refinement??
Good God!
This is lunacy!!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 01-Mar-26 17:53:30

Yes, there was a working agreement, which Trump tore up in 2018

Maremia Sun 01-Mar-26 17:50:57

And wasn't it Trump who tore up a non nuclear proliferation?

Maremia Sun 01-Mar-26 17:50:05

Correct me if I am wrong but weren't the two sides already in talks, before this latest escalation?

ronib Sun 01-Mar-26 17:45:10

Well I do think the Iranians were given some options which they didn’t take before this assault. If this is what needs to happen before sensible discussion then so be it. fallingstar.

Dorisdodar Sun 01-Mar-26 17:44:12

Haven't the negotiations been going on since Obama was President.

Fallingstar Sun 01-Mar-26 17:42:31

Seems it really wasn’t about liberating the Iranian people.

Fallingstar Sun 01-Mar-26 17:38:27

Is this his MO from now on, bombing people to the negotiating table if they don’t get there quick enough.

Casdon Sun 01-Mar-26 17:37:44

‘President Donald Trump said on social media Sunday that the United States has sunk nine Iranian navy ships and “largely destroyed” the country’s naval headquarters.

“I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships, some of them relatively large and important. We are going after the rest — They will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also! In a different attack, we largely destroyed their Naval Headquarters,” the president said on Truth Social. “Other than that, their Navy is doing very well!”

Trump did not share photos or video of the damage on social media.’

From CNN just now.

Fallingstar Sun 01-Mar-26 17:36:24

Have just read a news article that says Trump now wants to talk with the regime.
So is back to business as usual.
