Trump promises increased bombing and regime change. They are presently hitting Tehran one of the most populated cities in the region.
My heart goes out to innocent Iranians.

It is a massive gamble.

But one that needs taking.

I think what the genocide taught us, is, that as far as Israel and the USA are concerned there are no “civilians” - they will kill anyone including children with impunity.

So far just on day 1 we know that nearly 60 little girls have been killed. So precision targeting, targets little children? Perhaps Israel will claim that the school was full of Hamas?

Syracute don’t believe anything the Iranian regime puts out as the truth.

How many of their own citizens has this islamist regime murdered, simply because they were fed up of Islamist theocracy. Yet Starmer kept his mealy mouth shut for fear of upsetting the Muslim voters, again.

So you approve of illegal wars Oreo. There is no reason to believe this war will change the regime in Iran. More likely just lead to more death and chaos .

I sure approve of this one!
Regime change for Iranians would be just what so many want and have been hopeful of, but it isn’t the main objective here.
Knocking out ballistic missiles and any chances of acquiring nuclear capabilities is essential.

I can scarcely belive some people seem to be almost revelling in this.

People are dying. It's not a time for cheap shots at KS or ramling about regime change.

It’s no time for naivety about Iran, action should have been taken earlier against it, and very many people in Iran will be revelling in it and will now have hope.

The present Iranian regime is murderous.

And is not only murderous to tens of thousands of its own citizens but to the whole world by its funded proxies.
The regime there needs taking down.

Maremia Sat 28-Feb-26 14:47:28

Fallingstar that's good of you.

Someone should hit him upside the head with the Nobel Peace Prize. Hard.

I doubt he would suspect a little old woman, get me that peace prize and I’ll volunteer for the job.

Those poor wee girls, and all the other innocents who will be affected.

This is what we need to focus on, the human cost. I feel so sad for the Iranian people who have suffered decades of brutal repression and now face being bombed to bits. Must also be devastating for the Iranian diaspora, we have neighbours who are Iranian and they haven’t been able to contact their loved ones for weeks. Am going to take them my homemade chicken soup, not sure what else I can do.

Yes I am pleased to see that Europe is distancing itself.

Nothing of any good will come of this. It never does. Just destruction and death.

Look at Gaza.

I am definitely inclined to agree with you and glad that Spain as well as the European Union have distanced themselves from this "pedaphile lunatic and his war-making on innocent victims".

This war is predicted to be a long one.
It is being said that this is an illegal war as no immediate threat from Iran.
So many lives will be lost if this goes on for a long time.

No immediate threat, so the world should just wait until the threat is there? No, hit them now is the way to go.

That really went well with Iraq didn’t it confused?

Can only think of those people living under the bombs being dropped, must be so terrifying, is there any sense that the civilians were warned so they could get to safer parts of Iran??

The US knows exactly where to hit, and it’s what huge numbers of Iranians have been waiting for, never forget that.

Well a school has been hit and children have been killed.
There is nothing that is OK with that.
This is what will happen . Many innocent people will die.
Trump’s excuse on Truth Social that Iran interefered with past US elections ( no proof of that) in the past he said we obliterated Iran’s nuclear capability with the last bombing. Suddenly, these “obliterated” nuclear weapons have reincarnated.
Trump is also again declaring war without congressional approval. The man who thought he deserved a peace prize is now showing his true colors.
He is just a puppet of Israel and his cohorts that pull his strings in his unofficial cabinet.
Utter disgrace !

AGAA4 Sat 28-Feb-26 13:33:09

This war could affect the wider world so of course leaders of other countries will be concerned.
This war in the name of defence seems ludicrous given the might of the US and Israel against one weakened country, Iran.
I just hope Trump hasn't caused a bigger problem than the one he has decided needs a war to settle it.

Fallingstar Sat 28-Feb-26 13:31:50

I agree Tuliptree, in fact all major parties should form a coalition right now and decide upon how to respond to this war.
This isn’t the time to split hairs.

"Starmer Chairs COBRA Meeting" so says the BBC.

A timely distraction from the Greens trouncing Labour?

An utter disgrace of a post - people are being killed and the world is facing danger and you can’t resist a cheap shot. You should be ashamed of yourself. Of course if he hasn’t called a COBRA meeting you would be criticising him
