Don't think Congress was consulted.
A drop in the ocean in the great schemes of things....but replicated by how many more
Trump promises increased bombing and regime change. They are presently hitting Tehran one of the most populated cities in the region.
My heart goes out to innocent Iranians.
Don't think Congress was consulted.

Doesn’t Congress have to authorise this?
Still I suppose it takes the voters’ minds off Epstein and the dismal poll ratings.
True enough, but starting a war in order to "save" a badly tarnished reputation is the act of a seriously unstable individual.
I think this can only add to the growing rumours that the President is at some stage of irreversible dementia.
The US have bombed the Ayatollah's residence but he left days ago.
Europe and the UK are distancing themselves from this war thankfully.
Trump believes that "might is right" so force and killing will get results.
As we have seen in most other wars this is not so.
Wars only result in suffering, death and chaos.
I understand Iran is a threat to world peace. I don’t understand why Trump believes it’s America’s role to go to war with Iran. Enforced by the west, Regime change in Arab Middle Eastern countries has been disastrous. Iranian people will suffer and die. America, for now, appears safe from the kind of attacks it’s making. In the future I fear we are all at increased risk.
I’m in the north west. Our village Facebook pages have had frequent posts about the huge noise from aircraft at night, speculation it’s US jets. I’m relieved Keir Starmer and govt not involved - ?

I can see how desperate the Iranian people must be so can only hope the majority are seeing these attacks as a necessary evil.
Is just such an awful situation. Would help if the military turn against the regime in order to save their own skins as so often happens when regime change is on the cards.
There are no credible organised civil opposition leaders/a party organisation ready to "step in".
I quote from Al Jazeera:
"As of early 2026, there is no single, unified, or widely recognized, organized opposition party inside Iran that poses an imminent, structured threat to the Islamic Republic's hold on power.
While there is persistent, widespread discontent—evidenced by massive, nation-wide protests between late 2025 and early 2026—
the opposition remains deeply fragmented, lacking a centralised leadership or a common, cohesive political platform
So.....If the military turn against their leaders, do the people of Iran want a military dictatorship?.
Well Trump promised "no US feet on the ground", didnt he? so the only option unless he does, is to bomb, bomb, bomb.
War very rarely solves anything, as we have seen in so many places over past years.
Presumably Trump has given up designs on the Nobel Peace Prize now.

A post on Facebook, so maybe, maybe not, about USA sailors in the region, sabotaging their ship's toilets.
It's true the Gerald Ford has aircraft style toilets and are being sabotaged deliberately, which is a problem if you have 5000 personnel on board.

Yes I am pleased to see that Europe is distancing itself.
Nothing of any good will come of this. It never does. Just destruction and death.
Look at Gaza.
Nothing good about this attack for those who think it is. There are no immediate reasons for it except as some have suggested its the old old story of politicians
"Trouble at home?"
"Ratings falling"
"Lets have a war"
There will be so many innocent Iranian lives.
I read the BBC report carefully.
Now....*This is what Trump hopes*
"Trump has urged Iranians to "take over" the Iranian government, saying "it will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations"
The ordinary people of Iran are not in a situation where they can possibly do it. Thousands, so recently, were shot down innocently protesting in the streets. There is no really organised resistance or known structures to do what Trump thinks.
It's an evil, war mongering action and I see no good coming of it for Israel either. What do they gain? Its one thing acting back when Iran attack, but to invite full on war
I think I can see both sides to all this?
I think?
Trump has broken his promise to the people of the US. He said he would not get involved in other countries wars.
As he is losing popularity will this play out against him. Iran were no threat to the US.
I think regime change is needed more in the USA and Israel….warmongers both
Does the world never learn? War doesn,t solve anything it just inflames any problems there were
Why kill innocent civilians ….in Trump and Netanyahus thirst for power

I understand that regime change is needed in Iran but am not sure this is the way. If innocent civilian lives mount up, which they probably will, the population may cease to see this as liberation and rally round the regime and the military.
It could just go horrendously wrong and the cost to human lives will high.
Listening to Lyse Doucet on the radio this morning claimed that the people on Iran are ok with the attacks.
One person told her: what have we got to loose 😥
In the car last night BBC radio news announced that the all UK diplomats and embassy staff were relocating out of Tehran.
Our PM obviously had advance notice of these strikes.
A post on Facebook, so maybe, maybe not, about USA sailors in the region, sabotaging their ship's toilets.
As always it will be the Iranian people who will suffer the most. The Ayatollah and others have fled to a safe haven.
Awful! Whilst I absolutely abhor the regime in Iran, this surely isn’t the answer.

This war is predicted to be a long one.
It is being said that this is an illegal war as no immediate threat from Iran.
So many lives will be lost if this goes on for a long time.
Maybe, more likely a ceasefire after a few days to give Iran a chance to back down. Iran has very limited offensive weapons and won't be able to resupply easily because ports and airports will be closed
We must hope the USA does not have to drop Nuclear bombs on Iran to stop them in the same way it stopped Japan.
But
Iran needs to be stopped. The head of the monstrous snake should be cut off. The Mullahs emasculated.
The present Iranian regime is murderous.
I wonder how Trumps' Middle Eastern allies will react to this?
Iran is not a threat to the USA, so how will he sell this attack to the America First MAGA supporters.

David the base that the US wanted to use was one of very few that the US could launch their missile. May have been Diego Garcia?
Probably B52s carrying cruise missiles, they have plenty of alternatives, it it becomes critical Trump will take it over anyway.
