Travellers have been stuck in transit too.

Dubai in particular is a huge hub en route between many countries and Europe and the UK. Doha, Abu Dhabi are also important hubs.

We have friends who have had a 10 hour coach trip to Oman ( two small children) and are now awaiting a flight to Saudi Arabia and then on to the UK. They have been looked after very well by Emirates though.

Our past experiences with Emirates were superb.

The Emirates have been wonderful apparently.

I’m sure the majority of ex pats living there will be staying.

Some of the UK travellers are home safe.
Complaints in the USA that no arrangements have been made for their citizens.

Flight paths have been changed. DD is flying home with Singapore, but times may be changed, I would think.

There was a young woman on TV last night who was stuck in transit in Dubai. She had left her two small children at home in Australia to visit her sick father in UK.
I do hope she and others can all get to their destinations safely.

Apprently the flights leaving have to keep under a certain air speed and hight so not to be confused as Military planes.

That must be nothing short of terrifying for the passengers and crew. I don’t think I’d ever set foot on a plane again after touch down!

Emirates flights are still cancelled. Dubai is a stop on many of their routes between the UK and the Far East.

Will the Iranians care who their missiles are aimed at? It must be very frightening for people caught up in this. On Sky they said flights were leaving from Oman instead.

Neither of Dubai Airports are open as such.

They are currently trying to ensure that a few flights can take off tonight (their tonight not ours)

People are being told not to go to the airport unless they are messaged by their carrier

Looking at Flight Radar there is very little activity in Dubai (which I would imagine is usually very busy) I can't find any flights in the immediate vicinity which are destined for the UK.

There appear to be hundreds of flights north and south of Iran, obviously avoiding Iranian airspace. It must be an air traffic controller's nightmare.

Like everyone else, I hope that we manage to evacuate as many of UK citizens as we can. Particularly holiday makers and those working in the area who have been caught up in this mess without any prior warning.

My niece is flying home to Australia from the uk today. She flew here with Emirates who use Dubai as a hub. She had to rebook with Singapore Airlines to get home with a stop in Singapore. I think there are only a few flights out of Dubai to get people back to the uk.

Have to say I’m surprised after last night’s announcement from the US that its citizens must get out of 14 countries in the region, to “Depart now”. That suggests huge escalation to me. I wouldn’t be on a plane in any ME air space atm !
Though as Whitewavemark says, maybe a very convoluted route.
Don’t pray, but fervently hoping everyone who needs to get out, does, safely and as quickly as possible.

They must be flying away from the combat zone though I would have thought. So perhaps it will be a convoluted flight home?
