Starmer rebukes Trump

Britain would not get directly involved in the Middle Eastern conflict without a thought through approach from the US and Israel.

Starmer said British troops are shooting down drones and missiles to protect American lives in the Middle East on our joint bases; that is the special relationship in action. Sharing intelligence every day to keep our people safe; that is the special relationship in action.

Hanging onto President Trump's latest words is not the special relationship in action.

Well done Keir.

I concur.

And me.

So do I. This is an extremely difficult and critical situation.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 04-Mar-26 20:13:33

Stand firm Starmer.

Well come the day we are threatened by a larger foreign power I for one hope Donald Trump and the U.S are on our side.

LizzieDrip Wed 04-Mar-26 20:39:32

Well done Keir - stand your ground!

thanks

Thank you to Starmer and the people of Great Briton for trying to keep our soldiers, and yours, safe.

They deserve better than to be ruled by this monster. 6 US soldiers have already been killed for this illegal war, and these soldiers can not deny orders.

Yes I believe Starmer has proved his worth as one of the only leaders willing to use common sense right now.
Trump has just made a spectacle of himself again by making childish and rather peevish remarks.

Maremia Wed 04-Mar-26 21:12:17

Trump has tried to drag us into an illegal war.

Of course soldiers can’t deny their orders, and why would they?
Soldiers serve their countries needs, that’s their job.Joining up isn’t just to see new exciting places around the world.

Please do not speak to me like I am stupid Oreo. I am not the person who wants to entertain your current tirade.

Starmer is a complete embarrassment. Now he’s visiting mosques to say the UK isn’t helping the US …. Well, it kind of is actually.
Some mosques and university students are lauding the late ayatollah to the skies ( even though in January he sanctioned the murder of over 36,000 Iranians) he was a monster and they want candle lit vigils for him and no doubt will be marching through London having a protest any day now.

And I don’t wish to entertain your current tirades either, so we can agree on something.

Oh mate, give it a rest. The PM has got this spot on.

Our service men and women and US service men and women are proud to do their jobs serving their countries and above all they enjoy their jobs, it’s what they have trained for.

No.

Polls indicate that the majority of the British public support the PM’s actions and position.

By “give it a rest” I meant surely even you can admit that sometimes he can get it right?

Dogma isn’t a good look.

Have you worked in a care home Basgetti with some very elderly residents with many physical needs and some with dementia? There is no time for political opinions nor should there be.

Oreo Wed 04-Mar-26 22:50:07

I voted for Starmer and have been disappointed at every turn by him.I still want Labour as the government but not him as PM or Reeves as Chancellor.Am sure he’ll be replaced before the next GE.
It doesn’t matter to me about opinion polls on the war with Iran and what the public think.Generally speaking the public will never want to get involved with any war.

No. My mum is in the latter throes of dementia, though, so well aware.
(Was referring tongue in check to a snarky comment you made on another thread about tv shows inflicted on poor, sick patients).

Wyllow3 Wed 04-Mar-26 22:56:28

I can't imagine stopping being political even in a care home with substantial physical needs.

You are who you are and that's patronising to assume people don't want to engage politically imo. I know a 92 year old who needs a lot of care but is as sharp as a knife.

Of course it's significant what the public think! We don't want another Iraq!!!
