Mr Trump Can't Shut This War Down........

.......even if he wants to because he's lost control of Netanyahu.

The Israeli military is going berserk with the full blessing of Netanyahu. The US giving him support was a disastrous mis-calculation and now Israel seemingly doesn't need Trump anymore.

If he thought he would have the Iran business done and dusted in about a week, and he would come out of it as King of the World........well, his biggest mistake (among many) so far.

This illegal war has nothing to do with freedom for those Iranian women.
Absolutely nothing.
If their was genuine concern for Iranian women, then why are they carpet bombing Tehran?
Why?
Bombing civilians, instead of concentrating on military targets?
Whatever makes you think that a man found guilty of sexual assault is ever going to be interested in the fate of Iranian women?

ronib Thu 19-Mar-26 09:49:36

Surely acting when Israel wanted to go in with America and defeat the ayatollahs years ago would have seen a much happier result for all parties now?

….and the Hydra wasn’t real.

It’s not all they are achieving Wyllow3 they have really damaged Iran in many ways.Regime change would be a bonus but was never the real intention.
Damaging the regime and infrastructure of the regime was the intention.

Thank you Wyllow this is what I believe too.

Wyllow3 Thu 19-Mar-26 09:31:48

fleeing not felling

Wyllow3 Thu 19-Mar-26 09:31:20

Most certainly not so imo.

If you cut off the head of the snake, then it grows many more.

Remember Hydra?

Look at the current pro-government demonstrations in Iran.

all you do is potentially create more and more hard-liners.

It has been thus in other countries and to me its common sense that there are more Khamenei's in waiting. All Trump and Netanyahu are doing is to firm up the hard-liners, kill more civilians, create yet more refugees who are felling across the borders

and how is this all exactly going to bring regime change ?

I very much hope I am wrong but I do not think Trump knows what to do next. He hasn't had the support he thought he would get, he has created mayhem, hurt so many innocent people, solved nothing, alienated world leaders, my thoughts are he will pull out as suddenly as he went in, leaving carnage. He is like the Mad Hatter on speed.

I think he will pull out suddenly too.
And claim victory of course.

Not at all sure what Israel will do though.

I am sad to read a thread written by women about the war on Iran, that barely mentions the oppression women experience in that country. I have followed the White Wednesday movement in Iran that campaigns against mandatory hijabs and limits upon freedom since 2017. Earlier this year my social media feeds were full of young men and women’s bodies murdered by a state that will not grant the freedoms we take for granted, singing, playing music, reading newspapers at the most basic level. Lately there have been horrific accounts of the violence, torture and sexual abuse of women who protested or helped protestors. It seems to me that the contempt people have for Trump which I share, has blinded them to the requests of the Iranian people for help. This regime will not be overthrown without external support, they murdered 30000 of their own citizens in a week , if this war whatever the motives of USA and Israel, gives that generation a chance of the freedoms they were prepared to and did die for, I am all for it.

Not sure they really are bothered by the regimes murderous intent towards it's own citizens. It is just a band wagon to rail against Israel, the only democracy in that area, that is home to many Arab Muslims, and of course Trump, of which I am no fan, Iran is the one firing indiscriminately towards its neighbours, but cutting off the head of the snake is desirable to it being able to kill more of its own citizens because they protest about the Islamic theocracy they are forced to live in.

I think it is possible to hold 3 worries at a time. The dreadful way women are treated, the fact that a madman has blundered into a war with no plan and the knock on effect to the little people like me.

I'm sorry if the latter seems selfish.

Don’t be fooled by what you are reading, - go back over the years and you will find plenty of threads on this forum which support your cause.

Many millions of the worlds populations are living under severe oppression, or worse.

This thread however is asking the question whether this war can be easily shut down, and the issues surrounding that.

If you want to discuss oppression under the Iranian regime feel very free to start a thread specifically on that snd you will find many, many posters supportive of your cause.

Heard a short clip of Vance talking to an audience in the US.

What was he talking about - the carnage perhaps, the thousands killed....how its spread...foreign relationships?

No - you got it right "the price of your petrol will go up again soon because Trump says it will

Yes - for real. 😡

Trump is, and always has been, Netanhayu's puppet. Am I the only person to see the way this was going to go when Hamas were 'allowed' to do the awful thing they did, back in October 2024? (Was it 2024??) The Greater Israel Project seems to be getting into full swing. The sooner people start to look behind the headlines, cease to believe what the mainstream media parrot and start connecting up a few dots, the better.

Your first sentence.
Why?

We have our runner bean seeds from last year anyway.

Yes, we understood!

That's why I said There's be a run on seeds and panic buying at garden centres

My post should have gone on a gardening post but I was thinking of being more self sufficient when the cost of food rockets , along with our LPG. Is Trump going to dig up his lawn to plant potatoes. Like Dig for victory in WW2. grin

Meant to add...for best fertiliser, see if you can access horse manure. Invest in some very large rubbish bins with lids, put in horse poo, cover with water, leave to rot.Take out the water, leave the poo in, water around the roots of the plants, refill water. Don't use on salad veg, though, only on veg you will cook. After a year or so, it should be safe for all food plants.

Only use horse manure if it is certified herbicide free. If it isn't your poor plants will die. Herbicides take a long time to degrade from the manure. Other wise --great stuff.
Cherry tomatoes grow well in a hanging basket in the conservatory. Peppers and chilis need a long growing season and should have been started by now,
Mint as a herb or tea also helps to reduce pests from mice to white fly.
MoreVeg sell packets of seeds in small quantities , Who wants 100s of cabbages?
Try growing mixed salad leaves as micro greens . I use supermarket tubs on the kitchen window sill.

I expect little Donny will just give a press conference one day soon with his nodding heads lined up behind him and say: well, I did my best but your ( Iran) on your own now
Watching congress this afternoon questioning the intelligence nodding heads it’s very clear that the adults in the room ( not the Oval Office) 😉 are very worried and serous about the problem they have: their president.
