Mr Trump Can't Shut This War Down........

.......even if he wants to because he's lost control of Netanyahu.

The Israeli military is going berserk with the full blessing of Netanyahu. The US giving him support was a disastrous mis-calculation and now Israel seemingly doesn't need Trump anymore.

If he thought he would have the Iran business done and dusted in about a week, and he would come out of it as King of the World........well, his biggest mistake (among many) so far.

Why should we put our own ships and personnel in danger for this arrogant self serving insulting excuse for a man.
Hopefully the MOD will stick to saying this can't be done while there is still fierce fighting.

Trump is beginning to suggest that he needs assistance from other countries.

I thought that the USA was so powerful that it doesn’t need anyone else, certainly not NATO.

Trump made it quite clear that the USA was certainly not keen on helping anyone.

I am inclined to say “sod off”

I’m inclined to say much worse after he disrespected our armed forces saying they hadn’t helped out in Iraq or Afghanistan etc.
If he thinks it should just be America first whilst effectively giving the finger to Europe including the UK, let him bugger off and get on with it.

He's an idiot; a very dangerous idiot. Doesn't Israel have war ships?

He could control Israel if he stopped USA supplying arms to them.

Trump is asking for help? What happened to them being strong enough on their own and needing nobody else?
He has bitten off more than he can chew and is floundering.

According to the BBC news website Trump is asking other countries to send ships to secure the Strait of Hormuz. The UK is included.
"In a post on his platform Truth Social, he writes that he hopes China, France, Japan, South Korea and the UK will send war ships to the key shipping channel so it can "no longer be a threat" by Iran. "

Yup, am quite optimistic and anything which leaves Iran militarily and economically weaker and Hezbollah weaker in Lebanon sounds good to me.
I don’t think it will be a long conflict such as the years that Russia is taking to acquire Ukraine. Some things are more important than the price of oil and this is one of them.

More important than the price of oil? Oh come on- what else has this been about?

Don't tell me Trump's ego either...

Maremia Sat 14-Mar-26 16:06:22

Iran does not have to win. It just has to survive.

Maremia Sat 14-Mar-26 16:05:35

'Some things are more important than the price of oil.'
More important to whom, may we ask?

Maremia Sat 14-Mar-26 16:01:07

What, in his bone spurs?

Mr. Trump will know when it’s time to end the war. He’ll feel it in his bones, apparently. 🙄

The uk does have oil. For some unfathomable reason we buy it from Norway who sucks it up from our shared oilfield , of which the UK has the largest area,

This government has put forward a plan for the North Sea after years of inaction, like other initiatives from the Labour government it has received no publicity in the msm.

No no optimism….

No optimism and a feeling of dread.

No no optimism….

foxie48 Sat 14-Mar-26 11:23:39

This is a hugely dangerous time for the world, Trump has pushed us all into a fragile economic situation and also towards an all out war in the ME which could spread further. None of this was necessary and it has gone out of Trump's control very quickly. There is not a good ending to this that I can envisage perhaps others are more optimistic?

AGAA4 Sat 14-Mar-26 11:22:42

If the US hit the oil facilities on Kharg it will drive oil prices even higher and Iran will hit any oil facilities associated with the US.
The worry is that Iran might hit the desalination plants which take clean water to people in the area.

BBC News reports huge Iranian drone attack on UAE oil storage ….

AGAA4 Sat 14-Mar-26 11:08:32

Russia and China are helping Iran with intelligence. It is Russia who knows where the US military is so that Iran can send drones to destroy their targets.
The ship where US personnel were killed was located with the help of Russian intelligence.
China is helping with radar. They won't be happy if the US destroy the Iranian oil.
Trump has created a nightmare situation and the regime in Iran carries on and will become even more dangerous.

Not as simple as Trump thought, is it?
He never seems to think or see things through.
Ukraine/Russian war. He was sorting it out in an afternoon according to him. Still going .
Buying Greenland. Seems to have lost interest.
Turning Gaza into a billionaire's paradise. Gone very quiet.
He will probably leave Iran and the Middle East in a worse state than they were before and that wasn't great.
Trump is like a little boy who if he can't get his own way, straight away, takes his toys home.

A very dangerous, ignorant, evil little boy!

I doubt that Iran will allow shipping through unless there is some negotiation and Trump has created an impasse by saying Iran must surrender. Iran won't do that. It will be interesting which way Trump goes with this, he can't just declare he's won whilst shipping is backed up and oi prices are through the roof! He's having to remove sanctions from Russian oil to appease India and he's having to ask Ukraine for their help in dealing with Iran's drones whilst Russia are helping Iran behind the scenes. What an absolute dog's dinner!

He’s already declaring “he’s won”

ronib Sat 14-Mar-26 10:59:37

What surprises me is that only 20 percent of the world’s oil goes through Iran …. I don’t know if there’s any way other countries could start drilling to make up the shortfall ? Or are there ways of increasing output? Just don’t tell Ed….

This week will see a lot more action by the US.
