Mr Trump Can't Shut This War Down........

.......even if he wants to because he's lost control of Netanyahu.

The Israeli military is going berserk with the full blessing of Netanyahu. The US giving him support was a disastrous mis-calculation and now Israel seemingly doesn't need Trump anymore.

If he thought he would have the Iran business done and dusted in about a week, and he would come out of it as King of the World........well, his biggest mistake (among many) so far.

Kharg Island would only be obliterated if Iran continues to harm ships in the Straits Of Hormuz.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 14-Mar-26 10:21:05

Attacking Kharg would show yet another ill- planned and desperate measure.

The result would send oil prices spiralling out of control - something that Trump is most concerned about.

Iran says that it will ensure that oil reaches $200 a barrel, if Trump targets its oil infrastructure.

Trump has failed to control Hormuz despite all the big boy rhetoric emanating from the WH about the massive power the USA has.

With a few drones Iran is controlling world oil prices.

Trump never thought this through.

Oreo Sat 14-Mar-26 09:44:25

No, Iran isn’t calling the shots, it’s simply getting desperate.
If it loses Kharg Island it’s economy is finished.
Seems also likely that the new ayatollah is seriously injured and can’t appear on their State tv or even speak, that’s if he’s actually alive.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 14-Mar-26 09:35:36

Oh the irony!

Russia is giving Iran help with their drones and shutting Hormuz. Trump now chosen to help the resultant oil crises by ensuring Russian oil is more available.

Putin will now have much more money to fund what was his failing war in Ukraine - well done Trump - you have just given Russia a huge boost in its insurgency.

Who’s got the most stock of oil?

China. - who can go for months with their reserves.

The biggest power in the world - has always seen it as their responsibility to keep the seas open for trade. Trump is failing. The war will not be over until the trade in oil is back to normal.

Iran is calling the shots.

It is blindingly obvious that the Trump regime has not remotely thought through this war and he will pay the penalty - but those who pay the most will be the innocent Iranians.

Oreo Sat 14-Mar-26 09:30:15

The US have bombed all the military on Kharg Island which is essential to Iran but have left the oil infrastructure in place.
They have told Iran that if shipping is now harmed in the Strait Of Hormuz then they will blitz Kharg Island.
Nicely calling Iran’s bluff.

Don’t panic just yet Fallingstar 😉

Thanks for the advice x

Meant to add...for best fertiliser, see if you can access horse manure. Invest in some very large rubbish bins with lids, put in horse poo, cover with water, leave to rot.Take out the water, leave the poo in, water around the roots of the plants, refill water. Don't use on salad veg, though, only on veg you will cook. After a year or so, it should be safe for all food plants.

Thing is we don’t have a garden but just a yard, though is a nice sized one, am wondering whether to get pots and grow veg??
Can that be done??*

Absolutely! Certainly herbs,to add to rice and pasta. and veg such as silver beet and perpetual spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers,,Large pots, good quality compost/potting mix, save all veg scraps to make your own compost. Mung beans/alfalfa in your kitchen. I'm growing sweet potatoes in big pots too. Sunny corner, lots of water, feed well.

Yes, you can get good yields from some veg in pots. It’s definitely worth growing tomatoes yourself for example, because they freeze well for sauces etc too. If you can get to a Lidl, that is the best value for garden pots and cloches etc., and their first big drop was last Thursday, so they should be in stock now.

As usual it’s a case of ‘follow the money’ I am sure Trump couldn’t give a rat’s apse about women being oppressed in Iran or anywhere else.

From hearing how he refers to women he doesn’t like and keeping in mind there have been charges made against him by women in the past as well as considering his friendship with Epstein, I doubt he cares about women at all.

I can’t see the USA doing that until the strait of Hormuz is a safe oil passageway. If they do, he won’t be able to declare victory, which is a cornerstone of his ‘campaigns’, which won’t go down well at all, even with MAGA.

I fear we're in for a prolonged and unprecedented period of worldwide economic disaster. There will surely be blood spilled in the USA, a civil war. If the drug cartels get involved from Mexico, who knows where and when it will end. I'm preserving all the fruit and veg I can grow in my (substantial) garden and buying enough seeds for another summer, at least. Don't want to rely on supermarkets which may or may not be able to deliver what is needed.

Trump knows that Starmer doesn’t support his war so not sure where that leaves the Uk given its history……

Bryan39 Sat 14-Mar-26 05:50:07

The uk does have oil. For some unfathomable reason we buy it from Norway who sucks it up from our shared oilfield , of which the UK has the largest area,

twaddle Sat 14-Mar-26 03:36:55

It's shocking that Trump is getting away with this. I just don't even begin to understand why some people are still supporting him and his cronies. He has taken a wrecking ball to concepts such as truth, values and ethics.

Two of Mr Trump’s sons have recently invested in a drone production company:

“There’s no end in sight to President Donald Trump’s unprovoked and unconstitutional war with Iran, and two of the president’s children appear ready to cash in.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are investing in a Florida-based drone company called Powerus that “is vying to meet fresh demand from the Pentagon” for drones that started when the Trump administration banned foreign-made drones and drone components from the US in December.”

So, dad bans foreign-made drones; sons invest in US drone manufacturing company; dad bombs Iran; sons’ company sell drones to government (a.k.a. dad) for use in war against Iran!

Wow!

The Trump family have made at least $1.8 billion since Trump’s second term.

I have been traveling this week. But saw this pop up.

Every vote matters.

Also, he is sending ground troops into the war zone.

Maremia Fri 13-Mar-26 21:20:21

I think an official UN committee has just labelled Trump as a racist, quoting a specific speech he made and the language used.

AGAA4 Fri 13-Mar-26 17:14:37

It is a mess. This is what happens when there is no plan and nobody to say what if as in what if Iran closes the Hormuz strait?
Nothing was thought through and they just went into this war heedlessly.
But then Trump and his family are making massive amounts of money so perhaps that was the plan all along.

Maremia Fri 13-Mar-26 17:03:17

Just watched the latest Led by Donkeys, voiced by an Iranian woman. She said this war, led by Netanyahu, is not the way to defeat the hated regime.
They hoped to bring the Leader to justice, but now he is an eternal martyr.

foxie48 Fri 13-Mar-26 16:18:48

I doubt that Iran will allow shipping through unless there is some negotiation and Trump has created an impasse by saying Iran must surrender. Iran won't do that. It will be interesting which way Trump goes with this, he can't just declare he's won whilst shipping is backed up and oi prices are through the roof! He's having to remove sanctions from Russian oil to appease India and he's having to ask Ukraine for their help in dealing with Iran's drones whilst Russia are helping Iran behind the scenes. What an absolute dog's dinner!

fancythat Fri 13-Mar-26 16:14:58

He will declare victory, whatever happens.

But I take your point.
