Those of you still taken in by the climate change scam might like to listen to Paul Burgess on YouTube
People who think it's a scam are worst of all. Please educate yourself.
I would be very interested to know if anyone who sympathised with the Just Stop Oil campaign would be prepared to share their thoughts regarding the current situation in the Gulf and the US/Iran War.
Did you predict any of the turmoil predicted if petrol and diesel is not available or is it collateral damage for a greater good ?

Unfortunately we live in a world where the POTUS is a climate denier so little attempt is being made to reduce the use of fossil fuels in the US. Meanwhile many people complain about fuel costs in the UK, blaming much of the cost on 'green levies'.
Already we are seeing the effects of global warming with extreme weather events. I fear for the future of my children and grandchildren as I'll probably be gone by the time things get really intollerable, though flooding is already making life pretty intollerable for some in the UK!
We all need to play our part in trying to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Every little helps, but are we prepared to be a little less comfortable in our centrally heated homes by turning the thermostat down a little and wearing an extra layer? Will we walk more and drive less? I realise for some that is not possible but most of us can take a small step towards a greener existence!
I agree with this
I find both these comments unbelievably arrogant. And as for calling it ‘climate change scam’, well shame on you. Read the science and be very afraid.

Sorry you find the destruction of nature by our actions so tedious.People like you are a huge part of the problem. No doubt you find that statement tedious as well.
In the UK, we are reducing our ability to extract oil, but not our need for it. Th irony is that we become more dependent on the middle east and US and this affects our balance of payments, so we have less money to invest in oil alternatives (while the Norwegians are exploiting our common reserves).
Before we can stop oil, we have a longer path to renewables to pay for.
If you want to see real pollution sail into Hong Kong Harbour District. I thought we had arrived on a dense foggy day. That's real pollution
Shame on you grandmothers who don’t care about the world we are going to leave to our grandchildren and great grandchildren. I was in extinction rebellion that morphed into just stop oil after covid.
I was not and am not in favour of all the ways the protesters acted. Some of the actions I outright disagreed with. But when you have leaders that do not listen to petitions or peaceful marches what can you do? Civil disobedience is the next thing on the list.
And don’t go banging on about China. We have to get our own house in order before we can start telling other countries what to. My heart breaks for the young ones that are aware of what’s happening and what’s going to happen. I’ll be dead by then. So will all of you. So not to worry.
I’m not going to enter into a debate about this.
Totally agree Skallywag. Well said.
But the UK has already done an enormous amount to cut emissions. We have now reduced emissions to below the level they were in 1*8*79 and reduced 50% since 1990.
Of course we have to go further, but if in doing so we leave hospitals without power, sick people with out medecines, if we cannot grow or import enough food to feed everybody, if millions of people are without jobs and cannot get any fuel to heat their homes, what good does that do us.
As for all those in all these extremist organisations, all they do is increase our consumption of fossil fuels. in their travelling to demonstrations, the amount of fuel used by police forces to get to these demonstrations, whether in private transport or public, all the food and drink they buy to fuel themselves on their way - and the fuel used to manufacture transport and sell these items
They would do far better by living a fossil free energy life in a housing association flat in a central city area thus demonstrating to us all how we can eat affordable food that did not reuire any fossil fuel ot item made from a fossil fuel in its production, process or transport it, how they heat their home, keep themselves and their surroundings clean, how they will access medical services, consume medications and so on.
How do we manufacture all the renewable energy euipwent needed to supply this wonderful fossil free future if we cannot initiallyuse fossil fuels to make it? What do we do when the wind don't blow and the sun don't shine in mid winter?
Wailing and renting your cloths for doom awaits us may be emptionally satisfying, but doing something really useful about it is a much better way to do it.
The best way to get people to do as you want them is to show them a good example. Once people are just harangued and told how dreadful they are and that Armageddon threatens they switch off because if we ae are going to hell in a handbasket and can do nothing about it, we might as well eat drink and be merry because, like it or not, tomorrow we will die.

It's called utter exasperation and tiredness. After you to the end of civilisation as we know it.
Wonderful Monica, very rational, argued from a UK perspective and 'answering the question', I'm sure you got endless A*s at school and university.
The point I was trying to make was that there is a bigger perspective, ranting about Just Stop Oil is ridiculous, probably fomented by one of the tabloids, they have been abolished and discredited and in some cases jailed. The possibility of protest in the UK has all but been stopped.
I recommend listening to these two podcasts:
The Food Programme on BBC2

podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/how-is-climate-change-affecting-our-mental-health/id1538415261?i=1000566166098
Discussion and consideration well beyond recommending people who think climate change is a problem live in a flat etc etc

No, I never got A*s at school or university. In fact at school I bumped along the bottom of the class, except in exams, when I usually came 6th.
I have dyspraxia, which meant my handwriting verged towards the completely illegible, ADHD and a misguided (at the time) belief that pupils had as much right to have their say as teachers, meant I was always in trouble for challenging anyone who said things I did not agree with.
Someone, who knew what they were talking about, once described me as being deeply subversive. I have always seen this remark as the biggest compliment I have ever been paid.
Just stop oil?
I think Iran just did.

Why not go banging on about China and India and Russia and the US?
Climate change is a worldwide problem and the bigger the country the worse they seem to be as regards this problem .
We already do many good things here but there’s no percentage in not pursuing North Sea Oil and buying it from abroad instead.
There are two documentaries on Netflix at the moment (sorry no links and no titles!)
One is about plastic and the devastation it causes in all kinds of ways and the cost of recycling . The other is about our food.
We, us humans, are causing it at least escalating climate change, we also are damaging our planet in so so many ways, by what we produce, what we wear, what we grow, what we chop down, what we eat.
There’s so much more we can do to “save our planet” and to mitigate the damage we’ve caused across the last 100 years.
Thanks Cossy, it's good to share things that we have found helpful isn't it? It's hard to know where to begin sometimes but f we all try to do our bit, perhaps we can build a better future.
Monica thank goodness differences in ways of being that were once thought of as stupidity or obtuse or obstinate are now recognised and tolerance and help is given to children who are simply different for many reasons. What a lot you have overcome in your life and how well you have done to find and stay on your path. I have some developmental difficulties too, your contributions are always interesting and considered.
