"A US airman who was missing in Iran has been rescued in what President Donald Trump calls "one of the most daring" rescue operations in American history.
Both crew members from the downed F-15 fighter jet have now been rescued - the pilot and the weapon systems officer
The second crew member "sustained injuries" but "will be just fine", Trump says - the BBC understands injuries may have happened when the crew ejected from the aircraft after it was struck by Iran
Trump says no Americans were killed or wounded in the rescue
The BBC understands there was "engagement" between US and Iranian forces during the operation."

Thankfully the airman is safe back in the US. What an awful experience for him being alone in a hostile country knowing the Iranians were looking for him.
Apparently the US have lost two aircraft in the mission. They failed to take off and had to be destroyed to keep them out of the hands of the Iranians

Thank goodness. His family must have had a terrible time awaiting news about him.

That's such good news, I'm really pleased he didn't get into the hands of the Iranian regime, he would have had a dreadful time. Of course, if Trump hadn't started this illegal war he wouldn't have been bombing Iran in the first place!

What great news to wake up to this morning! I dread to think what could have happened to him if the Iranians had found him.

I very much hope this report is accurate and that the airman is now safe.

In the BBC report there were quite a few "according to Trump" type qualifiers which made me wonder how much of the news is true as Trump is famous for being a dishonest fantasist and a compulsive liar.

The reasons Trump started his illegal war were largely manufactured by his deranged mind.

The Epstein files are not just going to go away.

To be honest unlike Trump. I'm not entirely sure I believe this. It's seems most unlikely. I certainly hope it's true but it could just be more wishful/boastful outpourings by that evil president.

It is difficult to believe a word Trump says. He lies consistently so this may not be the whole truth. The BBC did seem to be saying that it was a bit more complicated than what Trump has said.
I do hope though that the airman has been rescued.

Unfortunately that was my first thought as well Aveline. I really hope it is true.

I cant see why an american life has more value than an iranian life. I will be happy when no one is being murdered.

I thought exactly the same Aveline and Casdon. It is shocking that this is how it is with someone like Trump. If it is true then it is very lucky for the airman and good news.

I'll believe it when the airman is seen in public. Trump could say it was raining and I'd check for myself.
Of course I hope it's true but won't take his word for it

What about the airman’s family?
If you think the news of the rescue could be false, what about his family?
They would have seen the news too.

If that poor airman is still in Iran it's likely he will be found by Iranians.
If Trump has lied about the rescue then when the Iranians try to bargain Trump can say he's been rescued by the US so no deal.
Trump would do anything that helps him even sacrificing his men.

The report I heard this morning was that an aircraft (not sure it was a plane or a helicopter) couldn’t take off so the US destroyed it themselves so that Iran couldn’t get any of the tech on board 🤷‍♀️

It’s difficult to believe what any politician tells us is true, unfortunately.
Could be true as they have better tracking systems than they did back in the Gulf war (remember the two pilots who were captured).
