I felt like crying just to read it. Somebody removed him please

And under the cover of this attack on Iran, Netanyahu continues to advance into Lebanon and intends to take a large chunk of land - the people have already been thrown off, huge numbers of refugees - just ordinarily folks - had to head north to Beirut - so Israel can create what it calls a buffer zone: the West Bank is facing more settlement, legally authorised by the regime, and the people of Gaza continue to suffer 😡

This is the first time since I joined gransnet that I have been fearful of opening newscasts, the suffering is so great, Trump is so unpredictable and immoral yet not enough standing up to him yet on the home front: and I am usually pretty eager to find out "what is going on"

As queried in today's Guardian, if Trump goes ahead with destroying Iran will it be him or his generals who will be charged with war crimes?

No prizes for guessing who's going to throw who under the bus.

You are right and he has fired a lot of his generals as they are fully aware of what a war crime is and have presumably said no to him.
Trump feels invincible but nobody is.

Fallingstar Tue 07-Apr-26 10:57:59

Well Trump you said you were doing this to free the Iranian people??
How has that worked out for you??
And more importantly how do you suppose it has worked out for the Iranian people?

Pedant alert - I know I am not communicating with Trump, if I was my post would be deleted immediately.

MayBee70 Tue 07-Apr-26 11:03:36

Did anyone see that footage of Trump at the White House with all those children. Instead of talking to them normally he was ridiculing Biden and getting people to chant four more years. And another time he was ridiculing Vance and the sycophants around him were all laughing.

I just feel so sad but feel I must keep up with the news because those poor innocent people are suffering so much more and I know they would want us to know what is going on, not that we probably know the half of it.
But it does make me feel very upset and powerless and if there is a God I am praying for this evil regime to be toppled, and am referring to Trump and his administration here. The Iranian regime can only be dealt with by their own people and a very strong opposition underground, sadly the West has hardened the Iranian regime’s resolve, not weakened it.

Democrats can't remove him because there aren't enough of them until we vote in November.

If we have an election and if the Democrats control both chambers, then he can be impeached (House) and convicted (Senate) and be removed from office.

Until then, our only option would need one of us to get close to him. He is one of the most guarded people in the US, including armed robots IIRC.

And even then. We are stuck with Vance.

It strikes me that your constitution needs an overhaul, if you currently have no means of removing a highly dangerous and volatile megalomaniac from the White House.

Wyllow3 Tue 07-Apr-26 11:16:26

Ridiculing Vance?
that is not a very bright idea, surely - what is his beef?

Smileless2012 Tue 07-Apr-26 11:27:44

What about Section 4 of the 25th Amendment imaround?

Dickens Tue 07-Apr-26 12:05:17

Those close to Trump must know that he's unbalanced, they aren't stupid, Though I'm not too sure about Hegseth who appears to be unravelling a bit.

I think they are suffering from some sort of collective stupor, too afraid for their positions to say or do anything that might get them singled out and sacked. It's not difficult to fall foul of him - he cannot ever fail in his own eyes, he must be failed by others. This is narcissism isn't it?

If, as it appears, he is regularly firing off angry rants late at night or during the small hours, this must surely mean that he's suffering from lack of sleep - he looks tired, he frequently falls asleep during meetings. So this must affect his mental state and make him even more prone to instability.

Is it even possible that there might be a behind-the-scenes plot to oust him, or are his barons so stuck in the headlights that they are just keeping their heads down and hoping for the best?

He was joking about not recognising him because he’d been a bit overweight and had shed a few pounds. And everyone was laughing at his comments.

I’m not religious. But it just crossed my mind that maybe we should all pray for peace at this moment in time. In fact I might do up to St Aidans, light a candle and do just that. Other than doing that I feel quite helpless. Let’s not forget about the other countries that Trump was talking about taking over eg Canada. In retrospect he must have been serious about it.

I cant bear to go beyond the headlines. He is utterly awful. One day he'll be gone and we'll be able to breathe again.

As they might have done in the days of Absolute Monarchs for fear of losing their heads.

Fallingstar, I think he is both demented and cruel.

Delila Tue 07-Apr-26 12:44:38

If he is removed, by someone with sufficient backbone and conscience to instigate proceedings, imagine the task his successor will have undoing the damage he’s done while in office.

I imagine Vance might be quaking in his boots.

I find it increasingly hard to understand why the American powers that be (apart from him) haven’t removed this dangerous lunatic from office.

Impeachment and the 25th amendment offer routes for removal but experts say the system is set up to to protect the president.

I also think this shows our Constitution needs a bit of something so that this never happens again. However. In our defense, this project of taking over the US Government by The Heritage Foundation has been going on behind the scenes for 40 years. The placement of judges. The funding of certain candidates that are Christian Nationalists. They have co-opted our system right under our eyes. And since they are all billionaires, the can afford it and have very few consequences if it goes wrong.

And they are headed your way next in the form of Farage and Reform.

Your best bet? Keep big money out of your elections. Once the corporations and billionaires get involved, it becomes less and less about the people and more about the money. angry

imaround Tue 07-Apr-26 13:08:23

I know everyone is saying. Why can't he be removed through the 25th?

Because the rest of his Government is just as corrupt as he is. They want him there. They want these wars, and gas prices surging. Because they are making money.

He is useful to them because he has a command of MAGA that no one else does. They will prop him up for as long as possible and keep MAGA stringing along.

If you are so inclined and want some reading, search for the market manipulation happening right now with the war. Every Friday, he posts something on Truth Social, the Sunday before trading opens he posts the opposite to calm prices down for the consumer.

There has been several suspicious trades from someone who buys before the big announcement on Friday, makes a ton of money, then he changes his mind, gas prices drop a few cents and he tells MAGA "see, I lowered the cost of gas for you". And they lap it up and say "you are right dea leader, it was higher under Biden anyhow".

Luckygirl3 Tue 07-Apr-26 13:31:15

:"A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again".

Is this not sufficient for thinking Americans to demand that lawyers (or medics) step in to remove him? People in UK can be sectioned for being a threat to others - surely there is something similar in US?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 07-Apr-26 13:38:08

This is POTUS’s post on Truth Social
🤦‍♀️

daughterofbonniebelle Tue 07-Apr-26 13:43:45

The same standard should be applied to Trump (eg talking about Iranians as 'animals' & etc) as was applied to Kanye West, ie he should not be given a visa to enter the UK.

Totally agree… but how… we petition against this horrendous use of money but little gets done tho Starmer has recently banned the use of of Cryptocurrency which is a step,in the right direction… not sure if it’s law yet tho?

I’m amused that the TV thought they had to apologise for his language and bleep it out - but then showed the litany of his war crimes of destruction. His behaviour is far worse than his language.
