I felt like crying just to read it. Somebody removed him please

Dickens a really good post. Trump is now bleating about Greenland again. And threatening to move troops out of 'hostile' European countries.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't genuinely believe that he's on a par with God.
I think he does ..... this is why the US mental health services need to step in.

Just found this on another discussion site from a half Iranian woman:

"You can hate your government without wanting your country to be destroyed by foreigners. Human rights offences conducted by the Iranian government doesn't de facto lend itself to Iranian support for their country to be bombed by a foreign entity that got them in this position in the first place."
I thought it was interesting. I am not up to speed on how western intervention was involved in the development of this regime but am aware that western involvement in the region is usually a disaster.

The USA is currently being governed by a madman. Looking for for reason or rationale behind any of his decisions is a waste of time and effort.

There was no reason for Trump to invade Iran. He himself changes his explanation for the war and its endgame almost daily. He did it because he could. He did it without any consultation with his NATO allies. It is not a NATO operation, it is entirely an American operation.

Ttrump is, of course, now blaming NATO allies for not following on and causing any defeat, but they were never asked or consulted about the war, why should they take part? A few have offereda bit of help, and British planes are helping to defend the Gulf States, who are collateral damage, but, why should NATO members risk men and materiel in a war they were not consulted on and do not want?

Absolutely MOnica.

We can only guess and ponder his reasons for starting a war, conspiracy theories are everywhere on SM sites and I'm not going to add to them. However, Trump has previously berated Biden for his lack of diplomatic skills and his "readiness" for war - Trump has labelled Biden "grossly incompetent" at ending conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine war, contrasting this with his own self-described "extremely competent" diplomatic approach.

Then there is the election promise of 'no more wars'...

We don't know why he made this decision to attack Iran - I certainly do not believe the official explanation. But I do believe he had a reason, one he will not divulge, which is why he continually changes it because it's not for public consumption.

M0nica Thu 09-Apr-26 15:41:26

Dickens you obviously have a greater trust in Trump's capacity to be rational or reasonable than I have.

I simply do not believe he is capable of having any reason other than the random ones he spews out every so often. I do not think he is capable of the forward thinking and planing that your rationale for hims imputes.

He is like the apocryphal goldfish with the 3 second memory. Once he says something, within seconds it is forgotten.

Luckygirl3 Thu 09-Apr-26 15:41:29

His absence of a reason need not be down to some undisclosed secret .... he might simply be mad.

" I am not up to speed on how western intervention was involved in the development of this regime but am aware that western involvement in the region is usually a disaster."

In 1953 the US and UK government helped to overthrow the democratically elected government of Iran led by Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh. It left the Shah of Iran in control of Iran which was pretty disastrous for the Iranian people and led to the 1979 revolution which put the present regime in power.

Hmm, no, it's not really a 'trust' in his capacity for rationality or reasonableness, more the belief that his self-interest is at the heart of everything he does, first and foremost, and that it's this self-interest / self-serving motivation that he covers up resulting in the different justifications for the war.

And I wholeheartedly agree with every word!

I wholeheartedly agree as well and the other thing Trump has in common with the apocryphal goldfish is they're both orange.

Luckygirl3 Thu 09-Apr-26 19:45:23

I am just reading Trump's niece's book about him. I think you can safely say she does not like him .....

In these dark days I love it when I find something that makes me smile, even if it's in a rather childish way. Apparently Trump's girlfriend before Melania was Celina Midelfart. I keep thinking about a marriage ceremony between them.

... considering the word 'trump' means something similar to the ending of that woman's name in certain regions in the UK - there would've been much spluttering and guffawing.

Celine is Norwegian, it's not a common name in Norway. But fart is a common word! It means "speed". When I lived in Norway it took me a while to get used to the signs indicating the speed limit on the roads - "fartsgrense" with my OH - who was Swedish but had worked in Norway for years - telling me to stop sniggering... even tho' he was grinning as he said so.

It's childish, but I think we can allow ourselves a little childish humour!

Dickens Back in the day when I was fitter than I am now, I used to do "fartlek" training, now my "fartlek" training consists of a little jog instead of running up a hill as fast as I could and walking back down. I don't miss much from my younger days but I do miss the energy and fitness that I once had!

... oh goodness, yes! I now remember that style of running being popular - what was it, back in the late 80s?

Also - in Norway, speed bumps are called "fartsdump"... they just can't help themselves can they... grin

I thought everyone called a fart a trump as an alternative!

But fart is a common word! It means "speed".
British farts are not speedy, only reaching about 7 mph, unlike a sneeze which could reach 100 mph.

Today's piece of useless information 😁

Iam64 Sun 12-Apr-26 16:11:05

I don’t expect my ten year old grandsons would see this as useless information Allira. It’s the stuff of hilarity to them and to be shared with their equally fart obsessed pals
