Why is Israel bombing Lebanon?

Trump describes it as a skirmish. Are 4 million displaced people a skirmish?

Are there terrorists imbedded in every street, in every home?

It's utterly wrong.

'Keir Starmer sent a MQ-9 Reaper drone over Lebanon for 13 hours yesterday (8 April)

Departing from RAF Akrotiri, it flew in circles near Baalbek. At same time, Israeli strikes killed 18 people in area

Starmer flew intel flights over Gaza for Israel. Is this part of same arrangement?' - Matt Kennard, independent journalist

I listen to independent journalists from sources such as Double Down News etc

How defensive is Starmers stance actually.
BBC and MSM is know to show blatant bias to one side in its coverage of middle east war.

Many were enthusiastic about the UK joining the war. Many on this site.

And people believe propaganda. All that twaddle about some poor airman wandering about in Iran.

As far as I am aware, the UK does not have Reaper MQ9 drones in operation any more.

Allirayou are correct, the drones currently operated by the U.K. are far superior.

Babsbada Fri 10-Apr-26 16:17:23

The Israelis are bombing to attempt to weaken the Hezbolla cells in Lebanon who are dedicated to eliminating them. The terrorist organization's are financed by Iran. The Lebanese government have allowed the terrorists to prosper.
Peace will only be possible through taking and negotiation but the Islamist terrorists refuse to do that.

It has been stated that Netanyahu is due in court, again, on Monday.
But, hey, if the country is still at war...?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 10-Apr-26 16:27:21

I think that the more likely scenario is that he gets voted out in this years election. The figures are not looking good for his party. The next day he will be in court.

So who is paying him I wonder? 🤔

Whitewavemark2 Fri 10-Apr-26 17:35:46

I suspect that Netanyahu will be tempted to continue bombing in order to provoke Iran into retaliation. Nothing pleases Netanyahu more than perpetual warfare.

weaken cells?

It's laughable. The cells are within the very fabric of society.

Not in some special " cell/terrorist " building or family.

Look him up, he is an author too.
He investigated documented the type, route of these spy planes that the UK sends over Isreal and now Lebanon.

*Allira*you are correct, the drones currently operated by the U.K. are far superior.

The current UK long range drone is the MQ9B Protector similar and larger than the Reaper with an endurance of 40 hours.
Many other smaller drones for short range operation by RAF, Navy and Army.

It's disgusting. Bombing children. Shameful.

Still if you are happy chatting about drones, crack on.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 10-Apr-26 18:50:32

One think that I hadn’t appreciated was the fact that the recently passed hanging law in Israel will cover children at least as young as 12.

And they celebrated with champagne!? Utter monsters.

Drones are used for surveillance, napping etc. not just for bombs

GrannyGravy13 Fri 10-Apr-26 19:05:52

Mapping not napping 🤦‍♀️

Yes I read that. I think puberty signals when a child is responsible for their actions in Islamic law. Which of course means little girls can be put to death much earlier than boys.

What a world we live in.

AGAA4 Fri 10-Apr-26 19:12:26

To order children to be hanged shows Israel and Iran to be barbaric.
Neither has the moral high ground.
Ruthless sadists.

Perhaps read the thread and see why drones were mentioned?

The report by some freelance person mentioned in the thread is not factually correct, but such erroneous reports by ill-informed people with their own agenda could bring danger to us all.

Large drones can drop bombs, smaller ones can be used to drop other missiles. They have been used in the Ukrainian conflict, now seemingly forgotten. They can also be used for reconnaissance, obviously.

They are not like the ones operated by amateurs everywhere taking nice pictures of the scenery.

The UK has a 6 billion trade deal with Israel and can't afford to lose the money.
It is true that reconnaissance planes were flown over Gaza during the war.
Hansard. Discussions ongoing about UK involvement.

That journalist is reporting his interpretation of why the drones were flown over Gaza and Lebanon.
His information sounds confused.

I'd rather wait for the truth than listen to possibly dangerous conspiracy theories.

AGAA4 Sat 11-Apr-26 10:44:29

That's why I mentioned Hansard. The government are discussing this issue Allira.
