One thing is for definite - Trump has tarnished the office of President of the United States for good.

Whoever takes up the reins after he's gone will have the monumental task of restoring any credibility.

Richard Nixon was bad enough - and criminal enough as it turned out - but he never came within a fraction of being anything like Trump.

Nixon did his lying with dignity. Not a word to be used to describe Trump. Ever.

And that's probably only a snapshot!

I fear that the situation created by trump in the USA and indeed the wider world is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. It will take a very special type of POTUS to bring the USA back to some semblance of normality and respect.

History will record him as the man who brought the US down from respect, from allies and friendships., to an abject and complex place, for even if Trump goes, MAGA has not, and the internal problems will be off the scale.

They are building massive immigrant internment camps through the country, and the population gradually starved, for the poor, of medical support.

There are strong waves and movements against all that, a longing to return to values of social cohesion, but this opposition has yet to properly coalesce. Imround gives us many examples of protest and decency at work, but it needs to be viable alternative.

I agree that western allies of the US will not trust the US again for a significant time, the damage done to relations with any future POTUS will need very careful handling. Once bitten twice shy.

AS far as I am aware, no trade deal has yet been signed into law in the UK or in the vast majority of countries that Trump has dumped tariffs on. There are frameworks for a deal that are being negotiated but not actual deals. Trump thinks that a framework is an actual deal but it is not. Also, Trump has no problem threatening countries economically for any reason that crosses his empty mind. His word is worth nothing. If he wasn’t threatening the UK over the war, he’d find some other assinine excuse.

Absolutely not.
We had a reasonable trade deal with America, better than most, which has been systematically undone by Starmer's behaviour.
His intention has always been to return to Europe, ignoring the democratic result of the Referendum, and he is achieving his aim. Disaster awaits.

Starmer negotiated the ‘reasonable trade deal’ in the first place.

Trump's behaviour is becoming more and more bizarre. He reacts strongly to any small criticism. He is writing on his Truth Social in the early hours of if the morning.
It's thought his narcissistic personality isn't coping with the failure of this war and he lashes out in very inappropriate ways.
He is clearly ill and needs somebody to insist on medical assessment.
How much worse will get before someone says enough.
